  1. In the Middle Region it's got to be BGA. The rest just need to face the facts; they were young and got better all year long. Great coaching does it every time. They can only be better next year. BA lost way too many experienced seniors. Don't see anyway they can be better even with some good young talent coming along. MBA hasn't gotten the job done for two years with talent spread across 3 classes. Now they are down to 1 class. Who's going to help the rising seniors? FRHS has lost too much talent out of the last two classes. They will need some time to recover. But since this is supposed to be a state wide discussion, middle just needs to face the real facts about baseball. Nobody in the top four this year and unless BGA can crank it up, nobody next year either. The schools that focus on baseball with the exception of BGA are in the East and the West. They will continue to get the job done next year. 2004 Predictions: 1) CBHS 2) Webb 3) Baylor 4)BGA/ECHS?
  2. Some do "practice what they preach". BA and MBA in recent years have played the best in Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky and Ohio. Others just whine.
  3. Congrats to BGA and their fine team. A team that has come from nowhere to 1 or 2. Let me repeat myself; the BGA coaching staff is the real deal. Just ask MBA. And now you can ask BA. FRHS are you paying attention!
  4. itzme; you da man, but you might have been too subtle. I've been impressed by the cheering from the dugout when an opposing coach leaves a pitcher in the game. Go, Eagles! But, you better bring your A game, because the BGA coaching staff is the real deal.
  5. The son or daughter of a teacher or coach doesn't seem to have any problem changing schools and being eligible, if their parent changes jobs, ie; schools. LOL
  6. Wes, thanks for the great job on the stats. As usual you did a terrific even handed job, even though we know you are really an Eagle at heart. You did however; miss the MBA pitcher with the best record, who also has already signed to play college ball. Since I know you, I also know you didn't intend to dis him. An understandable error. You probably took your lead from the MBA staff that hasn't been able to figure it out for two years either.
  7. Don't look now, but there may be a team to the west that has something to say about who the eventual champion will be. Can anyone say CBHS?

    BLUE-GRAY CLASSIC

B/G is a good group that works hard for their prospects. You will play and showcase in front of a lot of college and pro scouts. You will be coached by a very good and caring HS or College coach who will help you show your best. All participants will get equal time on the field. If you can play you will be noticed. The banquet with speakers and the seminar on "recruiting the recruiter" by Eddie James is woth the price of admission by itself. You want to know how to get recruited? He will lay it out for you and your parents. If you make the state team you will then be given the opportunity to participate at a national event, probably in Florida, on Team Tennessee competing against teams from all over the country. That event will be in front of even more scouts. While B/G may not have the prestige of Team One or Area Code, they work very very hard for their guys and are well worth the money.

    FRHS/MBA Today?

Anyone know what happened? Did they get it in, and if so what were the results?
  10. Pettus is clearly one of the best pitchers in D2. He didn't have his best stuff and still split with BA. I heard he went 6 2/3 against Germantown this year and only gave up 2 runs. Not bad in my book. This is however, clearly off the topic. Let's see what todays' games do to the D2 race. Who knows, maybe it will tighten up a bit more.
  11. BA visits MBA today at 4:30. Should be interesting; two good teams, each with many strengths but a different weakness.

    CHAKRA

Gatorade; It surprises me that none of the posters have picked up on the use of "athletic scholarship". No such thing exists in TN high school sports. The DII schools can give "need based aid", not athletic scholarships. It is certainly easy to understand why this is misunderstood by many, since some like to fan the flames by misusing and misapplying the term "athletic scholarship".
