  1. Well how can you determine underrated? For every kid who takes the licks for their teammates to score and yet they do not get anything but bruses. It is ashamed that the only person who is remembered in a game is the one who scores the winning shot at the end of the game or who has the most shots. But they did not do it by themselves. Basketball is a team sport and it takes teamwork for one to score. I feel it is really bad to see one kid be called the greatest when they had the ball given to them under the goal for a easy shot. People need to see that the reason alot of these shots are made is because a teammate gave them the ball, rebounded the ball, hussle more, assisted for that player or gave up a shot so a teammate could take it. I have noticed alot of players do alot of the work but never get credit yet the high scorer takes all the credit for the whole game and is called the hero in the game. No one individual player does it all and to me the whole team deserves credit for working together. I support all players and think all deserve credit for what they all do.
  2. I say Perry Co. will win the district if they play like they can. They do have alot of talent and these girls play well together. They all can hit and not anyone of them depend on just one player. This group is very sharp and will only get better. I say the Lady Vikings will be the best team in 12A if all stays well and they play like they can play. Good Luck Lady Vikings
  3. I agree with you about Wayne Co having talent and I know Byrd can hit. The game will be good as it always is with Wayne Co. But I also know who can hit for Perry Co. and between the two I think Perry Co. will win. No trash talking about Wayne Co just I feel Perry Co has alot of players who can hit and if they play like they can they can beat anyone this year. I know W.C. has talent too. We will have to see but no trash talk about W.C. here. just pulling for the Vikings. Not all Vikings trash talk. Good Luck Vikings
  4. Perry County will miss Holly Turnbow but I think the P.C. lady Vikings can still take it all in the District. They have more than 1 person on the team that can play and they all work together really well. The sophomores still have the leadership of upperclass girls to give them the support and help they need. Perry COunty has more than sophomores. They will be good. GO VIKINGS
  5. Kirk is a person who all parents wish their child to be like. I am lucky to know him and there is not a time he is in town he doesn't speak to everyone. He is a person everyone here is proud of. He is such a positive person and works really hard to do his best. No matter what happens with him we know he is the best. He has not let his lifestyle affect who he is and where he is from. Every time he gets a chance he came home and practiced in the high school gym. All the Perry County kids admire him and have the dream of becomming him. Kirk has a gym here at Lobelville Elementary in his name and no matter what happens in his career he will always be our home town hero in sports. He has had a very hard time losing his mother but he has shown more strength by succeeding in basketball. We wish Kirk the best and we hope he will keep the positive attitude that he has always had. Hey if the NBA doesn't want him he would be a great coach for the kids here at Perry County. We Love you Kirk and We are very proud of you.
  6. Perry Co. has the ability to have a great season. They have alot of talent and they have more than the top 5 who can play ball. They did lose 3 players and that will hurt due to experience but they will have a good season. Good Luck Vikings! And as for the remark about the players being stupid. This is going a little far. It was a bad remark made by a earlier post but come on don't call the players stupid. Good Luck to the Vikings.
  7. I live in Perry Co. We only have one high school, two elementary, and two middle schools. I can say our schools don't have alot of things that inner city schools have. We do not have music in schools and we don't have art in elementary schools but what these schools have is chances for alot of kids to get to play in a sport if they want without so many other kids taking there chance from them.We do not have many sports in Perry Co. for the kids to play but it is great for those who do play. Small town schools have a special touch that alot of the bigger schools don't have and that is the one on one knowing everyone by name. We all feel like we are a family in a way in the sports here. Yes basketball is what Perry Co. is well known for but I feel football is making great progress and in time we will keep making progress. When a kid makes a touchdown everyone in town either knows that child or who their parents are and they talk about it for weeks here. We are all proud of the kids and we all know other schools have alot ot offer but we feel we offer alot that alot of schools don't have anymore. We know each other and care about everyone here. The kids who play sports here all play with each other from Jr. Pro years until they graduate. The class of 2004 here will graduate around 90. Maybe a few more but they all know each other and have gone from kindergarden until the 12th grade together. There close and they know each classmate. I am proud of our small county school for the chance for all to get a chance to play in the sports here.
  8. Sometimes the underdog comes back. It could come up a win for the Vikings if they play ball like they can play. They have had some bad games but they can win. I go for the Vikings . Good luck Vikings. You can do it if you put your mind to it. Beat JCS.
  9. I also know of cases where in a small community everyone knows everyone and because someones family is well known in the communty there child plays a sport and others sit the bench who can play as well or better than the one playing. Alot of politics goes into playing sports I feel in small communtiy's. It is sad to see grown ups Parents, coaches and school personell take away playing time of players just to make a grown up happy. These are kids and they need a chance to play all the same. I don't believe a parent should pay their childs way to play and I don't think anyone involved with the schools should even want to do anything but what is right by the kids. I have saw a ballgame where it was "Senior Night" and the home team was ahead by 20 points. This team had 3 Seniors on the bench that never got to play in ballgames but they had hopes of playing some on this night due to it was their last night to get to play. The coach put in alot of his younger players and did not let any of these Seniors play in their last game but instead played his freshman, soph, and Juniors. Yes the parents were upset and they had a right to be. Some things in sports need to be addressed by the parent and the coaches need to know what is right for all the kids. I don't believe a parent needs to coach but I do feel some coaches are not there for what is best for the child only for what is best for theirselves. What would it hurt to let these Seniors play on their night with a 20 point lead? Alot of coaches say that is the coaches choice and it was but those kids never got a chance. To me that is a shame. If you are ahead by 20 these kids work hard and every child should get playing time. If they are requested to practice with the team they should be treated like a teamate.
  10. I do not know who the best band is in Tennessee but I want to say to each school that has a band you are very lucky. Perry C. does not have music in school and we miss this at a football game. Good luck to all bands and if your team plays Perry C. please bring your band.
  11. I know alot of parents that work and do not get off work until so close to ballgame time they cannot go home and fix supper or eat at home. If you have a child that has not ate since lunch and you work until ballgame time you have no choice but to either not go to the game or get your child a burger or a hotdog at the concession stand. I am not saying the football teams don't need money all I am saying is if you understand some people are working until time for the games and don't have a chance to go home to eat. I am not whining or complaining I just think there is other ways of making money. The inner city schools and private schools can handle the charges due to they have more than these rural city schools. It is harder on some and I don't feel someone should tell me I am whining about this.
  12. The gym for the high school has nothing to do with the money problems at PCHS. Have you been to any of the meetings or are you like the rest of the county and just want to tear up the school on what you hear. We all need to support the all the sports programs at PCHS. The football program is doing good and they did get a big chunk of money for the football field to fix it. But this was needed for the players just as the gym was needed for the basketball players.. Don't dog basketball or the gym. We support football so you need to support basketball and we don't need anyone to loose their jobs at any of the schools. Until you attend a meeting don't blame anyone until you go and listen for yourself what has happened and what we can do to fix it. Good luck Vikings in this weeks game.
  13. I realize these programs need cash but they dollar everyone to death. For a family to pay to get into a ballgame and then they buy snacks at concession stand that is a big amount for a family. Now they are wanting more for parking. People will do like alot do for other events they will park in other areas and walk to the field from other places. Times are hard for familys and these teams do need money but why can't they find another way of making money instead of charging more at the parking lots.
  14. To me class is to win but not smear. I have seen some coaches keep the 1st string in the whole game just to stomp the other team and never play the younger players then the next year they are on the other end and they are getting stomped. All the players should play when you are leading at least by 2 touch downs and you know the other team doesn't have a chance. To me a coach that does this is very smart and has alot of class. And a team that supports all the players are the ones with class. I know a team that when the subs go in the team yells and supports these guys. This is what class is.
  15. October 23rd is the only Thursday night game we have but it is a away game.
  16. I support prayer in sports. I do not see how or why so many get so upset over this. How many years have there been prayer in sports and in public places.?It really is a shame to me to see the word God taken out of our schools and out of public places. Before long they will take" In God We Trust" off our dollar bills and this is my opinion but I feel that is why we have so much trouble in our schools and our country. Everyone feels there own ways about this but its really bad to me to let a kid say cuss words, sex words, take drugs and smoke but they cannot pray with a football team or in school. Thank goodness they will have a moment of silence for me to pray because they can't stop me from praying to God in my own home or during a moment of silence at a school event. I don't force anyone to join in my beliefs but it is a shame we all have to stop our way of lives for others who don't like what has been done for years. Good luck to all teams.
  17. Perry Co. may not win alot of games but I can say they all never quit until the game is over. You may beat them 49-9 but I can tell you not for 1 minute they give up. Our team works very hard maybe they are not one of the top teams in the region but they are not going to stop hitting or stop playing until the clock stops. I don't think anyone should slam another team for how they play or how they win or loose. The thing all of us need to remember is these are kids doing there best and giving there all. Good luck to the Vikings and to all the teams who don't play the Vikings.
  18. Perry Co. has nothing to hang there heads down for. They can come back this week and make their record 3-1. Keep up the good work P.C.H.S. We are all cheering you on. Cody you did a good job but you had help by your team-mates. Congrat to all the Vikings for doing your best. Put last Friday behind you and remember how wonderful it felt to win. You can do it.
  19. I wish the Vikings the best in this weeks game against USJ. We all are supporting you here in P.C. Does anyone have any predictions on the game? Who is favorite? And what is USJ's record so far? Are they a private school? Good luck to the Vikings. We will be cheering you on.
  20. I agree we need to support the Vikings and the coaches. Good luck to the Vikings. We are all proud of you and we hope you have a great game.
  21. To Hedge and Pig your post is what makes Perry Co. so special. You care enough to tell what a players side of the story really is. The kind words speaking from a player to giving your teammates credit really is what a team should be. The kind words to even a player who did not get to play much but you supported him the way he supported you. This is what the Vikings are special for. I know from alot of people in P.C. there are more like you that care about our football team and who are very proud of our team. The coaches have done a good job and I do know alot of the coaches who left our teams in the past did not get a choice but I am so glad we have Coach Rice and the staff with him. We have had alot of really good players at P.C. Each one played their own position even the guys on the bench but there is something I feel noone will ever beat Perry Co. on and that is the way they care about each other. They are a team and they stick together like a team. It showed in the post from Hedge and Pigg. Even when they have graduated they still support the team and the coaches. I support the Vikings and I am proud of them.
  22. I talked to a player who was on a high school football team but did not get to play due to he made mistakes alot . This player told me he was so glad to be part of the team it did not matter if he played. He said he worked hard practicing and doing everything like everyone else but he never played in a game. This player is now a senior and he is very supportive of his team and coaches. He has such a positive outlook and feels his job on the team is to give the others a pat on the back and cheer his team on. I just wanted to say for all the players out there that are playing like this I feel you should be reconized for all you do. I told the player that in life we all have different jobs but for someone to come up to you and say "Great Job" when things go right or for someone to be there when things go bad is a job not many do today. I salute the players who have stuck it out to be on a team and don't ask to play but never complain when they don't get to play. I wish all of these players to get to achieve something in life that they did not get the chance to achieve in sports.
  23. I have to say the coaches at Perry Co. is doing a good job. I too have my opinion and it is made by what the players have told me and from what the record is now. We did have a coach in the past who was tough, rough.and had the players doing things alot of people did not agree with here in Perry C. I have supported the Perry Co. teams since the football program started back and this is the 1st year I can see progress. I commend these coaches and players for all their hard work and success. I know not all agree but I know what the coaches teach in Perry C. and I know what kind of man Mr. Rice is and if there was a choice for me to pick who I think is a good man and good coach I would no doubt want Mr. Rice over Mr. Wompler. If you look at our record now something is right and when it is working leave it alone. I support the Vikings and all the staff working with them.
