  1. I saw the final posted 45-35 Cavs. Any positive commentary, storyline, or stats? What about big plays/turnovers or penalties?
  2. Great 1st win of the season for IHS. I too saw the 1st half and it looked like Page had a bit of a depth problem. They might have been speedy but by the middle of the 2nd qtr. they were gassed. I believe that it was the combination of emotion and two 15 yard variety penalties on IHS that helped PHS score their 3 and almost put another one in before half. I don't know what Hillwood has in week 1 for the Eagles except for more athletes than Page. I do feel that IHS has a very legit shot at the playoffs if they continue the hard work and don't let success & the hype from this board get to their heads. By the way, the word on the street is that the game this Friday has been move from Hillwood to Bellevue Middle School due to facility problems at Hillwood. Good luck IHS.
  3. HS football in Lexington pretty much goes in stages in terms of success. Tates Creek (besides Lex Catholic) has probably had the most success since I have left teaching in Lex (mid-90's) P.L. Dunbar is only about 15 years old. My opinion is that I don't think that they will be able to beat MBA. Although it is not too bad of a program, football hasn't established itself at PLD like hoops has. Good luck to both squads. MBA fans should love the PLD facilities and the Lexington area though. Beautiful horse farms. (Calumet is right down the road as is Keeneland Race Track)
  4. Good luck Coach Breeden, Weave, & Riverdale. Beat Soddy!!! Little Bitty
  5. Coach Browne is not a real coach? 1st coach to bring CC to TSSAA playoffs, highest finish for a CC team in '97 (2nd in region to R'dale) Had the same $$ & administrative support been given to him as with the Coach Price, who is doing a heckuva job, he may as well still have been in Manchester & winning in this region.
  6. Raider One... your boy is coming in from West GA this weekend.

    Kentucky Tournament

Great area...plenty of hotels & places to eat. With time visit EKU in Richmond. (my alma mater) Its a great campus. From Middle Tennessee its about 3.5 to 4 hours, depending what route you take.
  8. Backboard light has to flash to indicate when time hs expired. You could not tell if it did from the broadcast angle. Anyway it was a great game, SCHS made me a believer because I went as a big doubter. Great season, great coaching, and very classy KT is. Congrats to Hamilton as well. Some of the ref's calls down the many stretches this game had were incredulous. Jump balls instead of pushes (since over the back is not a call), the step on the line debacle, etc. Anyhow, very exciting and unexpected. I came away well entertained.
  9. Chattanooga association referees
  10. Well I guess everyone has their opinions which is splendid. I guess ETSU has theirs about who they feel is the best for their needs. Hopefully the 2 SHS players will sign with someone too. My last statement before I leave this topic for good is that Williams only had to play the point, be the leading scorer, & grab the boards against just about all of their schedule. If he had a more athletic cast around him like SHS he wouldn't have had to play in the bottom of the 2-3 but also guard the opponents best. But again I digress its only an opinion. All were outstanding choices for MVP & I wouldn't have wanted to decide if I were KT.
  11. The entire all-district nomination process was in shambles this season. Coaches were not on the same page. Historically, coaches have nominated their players only & no one else's. I guess this is done to prevent table talk & deals being made. I just wish it didn't come down to pitting the boys against each other because I believe that they are all friends & respect each other mutually.
  12. Hey don't take it out on Mike. If the protocol had been followed when voting for all district had been followed it would have been a sole SHS player as MVP and deservingly so. No coaches politics were involved. They didn't have time to politic because no one knew of SHS intentions for naming the MVP. To get what SHS had wanted the by-laws would have to be changed. When Columbia was so dominant never were 2 of their players coupled on the same ballot. Congrats to SHS, CHS, & the other District 8-3A schools moving on into the region & to Micah, taking his game to ETSU next year.
  13. I second the way to go Red Raiders!!! I didn't make it out to Lawrenceburg tonight. Anybody have any details or scoring totals? Great job Coach Taylor, Alsup, & Reed. Good luck in the final.
  14. McCall can't dominate a game... he can influence a game big time with his shooting. He can't handle the ball or play the D as well as a junior in high school should so therefore is not a dominating player. Good luck Red Raiders
  15. In horse racing, often there are horses that are designated "field" or "coupled". You place a bet on one & you automatically get the other(s). Maybe if this had previously been a practice when nominating MVP candidates it would have been accepted.
  16. What if it was Stewart & Williams together on the same team & Twilley had the same type of year? Or if Stewart was solo? The coaches were faced with a very difficult decision. Now before anybody starts talking about politicing & choosing sides, talk to an 8-4A coach & let them explain why it came to be a tri-MVP. You will then be educated on how this happened.
  17. I guess thats why Summit hasn't won an NCAA championship since 1998. The girl is an outstanding player. Who knows what she is being taught in regards to team concept, but I can guess that she can help Rutgers next year. I really don't think games like that come to easy in the NY PSAL or Catholic leagues on a nightly basis. Is scoring 50 points scored or more in order to break a school, league, or state record ever debated? Please, only if someone has seen tape of the game or was actually present there to witness the record can judge it as a great night or a farce. Rock on!!!
  18. A dozen to 20 high schools in Fairfield County Connecticut have gone to field turf within the past 3 years. The $500,000 estimate was about right. The fields surfaces are rumored to last 20-25 years. Downpours drain in no time and snow (not down here but up in CT) is blown right off. It will be a great investment.
  19. Any score for CC vs. Cookeville...? Shelbyville result was a bit surprising although I knew nothing about Madison Academy.
  20. Can't remember the score...close game thou. I believe it was upper forties or lower fifties for CC & LC was 4-5 pts. in the hole. Big district opening win for the Red Raiders. Good job Coach Taylor & staff.
  21. Don't be so quick to jump the gun...county commissioners have yet to agree to the director's building plan or pass the necessary tax increase to fund the proposal. Although, I hope your information is 100% correct & the wheels are turning.
  22. Rain has stopped the Riverdale @ CC basketball games tonight in Manchester. No, not due to slick roads or bad visibility, but because the gym has numerous leaks. (as it has for the past 10+ years) The conditions of the schools in CC & funds to upkeep them is & has been a sorry state of affairs. Feel free to share your comments. (keep it clean, civil, & at a mature level)
  23. Hopefully it won't rain...CC postponed their basketball games vs. Riverdale tonight because the gym leaks like a sieve. Good luck wrestlers in your 1st season.
  24. Overton will have more athletes & a lot more speed than CC. However though that doesn't always win you football games (UF-UT this weekend) Overton's 4A region is better than CC's 5A region so I believe even though they are 1-3, Overton will be ready to play. CC has to find a way to spread the field. Crossville had all 11 on D within 5-6 yards of the L.O.S. last Friday night & this prevented the Raiders from having a drive that resulted in multiple 1st downs & significant gains. I occasionally read on here how CC often has more offensive production than the teams they play. I agree with that BUT...usually the teams that score on CC do so because of a short field to work with. I hope that CC can win this one because they need a positive night to get them ready for Franklin Co, Lincoln Co & Warren Co. They'll need 2 of these 3 to make the playoffs.
  25. Longest continuous rivalry in the U.S. is Norwich Free Academy & New London High School in SE Connecticut. I believe that they 1st played in either 1879 or 1889. I will check to verify the year. Its the Thanksgiving morning game so tons of alumni that are back home visiting are there to watch it. A lot of tailgating (Kegs & Eggs) goes on.
