District 9AA Offensive MVP- Emily Canaday (FRA) Defensive MVP- Kayla Eakes (Ezell Harding)

The Tennessee Sports Writers Association names an All-State team by classification. The biggest problem with them is that the team is named in July and there is no notification unless you keep a close eye on your local paper.

Let me add my congratulations to all the teams that won. But I also want to congratulate the girls who ended their seasons tonight. Be proud of what you accomplished. You will obviously be disappointed not to make it to state, but you have had great careers. To the girls from Sycamore, especially Sam and Coty, you played a beautiful game. Sam, I know you well enough to know you were hurting after the 5th. I was proud of how you played through it and made no excuses. Coty, we were worried every time you stepped into the batters box. Any strikes we threw to you were mistakes, but you made us pay if it was even close. This is one of the things that makes High School sports so wonderful. Where else can you be so excited by your team's victory and be heartbroken because the other team had to lose? Best of luck to all the players, whether your season continues or not.

It was a normal HFA/EH game. The team that made the fewest mistakes wins. HFA scored 3 unearned runs in the first with 2 outs, then added an insurance run in the 4th. EH hit a HR in the 4th to get back into the game, but couldn't get anymore runs. The wind was a big factor in the game. It was blowing out and really helped carry some balls for both sides. Hope to see these teams get to play again in the 'Boro. It is turning into a very classy rivalry.

In AA Ezell Harding hosts Hume-Fogg, Wednesday 4:30 Here we go, Round 6.

We have been told they play in a city park, not at the high school, can anyone from Giles confirm.

Can someone give me a street address for the park where Giles County plays their softball games?

I am mainly familiar with AA in the midstate. I know at least 4 of the teams on the AA list lost Senior pitchers that had pitched their teams to the State Tournament in the past years (Hume-Fogg, Greenbrier, Creekwood and Marshall County). Who do they have to replace their aces and what can we expect from them? I know Goodpasture and Sycamore have their pitchers returning, who else has strength on the mound?

Coty is a good player and a great kid. Caught for my daughter last year and could help any team, powerful bat.

They do not have any softball posted. Anyone know who had the contract?

Conehead- Please tell me that you know that STD was being sarcastic in his comments about the 1.8 multilier rule. The strike zone is technically the same for both schools. I was very impressed with the Marshall County team this year, on and off the field. Your girls should be very proud of what they have accomplished. All you can say about Goodpasture is that they know how to win. Throw the multiplier at them (which could be called the Goodpasture rule) and they still win in a higher classification. STD- was that the same umpiring crew that called 4 illegal pitches in the Soddy game that we had in our game? I'm betting it was.

Ladies- I know the season didn't end as we had dreamed, but I wanted to publicly say how proud I am of each and everyone of you. You competed with courage, heart, and determination. You handled the pressures of going to an academic magnet school with no complaints (well maybe a few). You pulled for your teammates and really worked as a team. To the Seniors: Megan- Dallas has no idea what is about to happen to their city. Take it easy on them and remember it is the heart of Bush country. Dianna- You took the brunt of my screaming this year, but I was so proud of you at the State. Take care of Carly next year. Carly- What can I say. It was a priviledge to sit on the bucket these last two years. Thank you. To the underclassmen- You have the responsibility to live up to the legacy left to you. Work hard this summer and you can do it again next year. Just remember what you accomplished this year. First regular season District Championship. First District Tournament Championship. First State Tournament win. First in the hearts of your fans. From Good to Great in one season! May God bless all of you, Bob
