  1. Are these the refs that will be officiating the games Saturday? The refs Westview had last night were pretty consistent, but they certainly didn't let anyone play. I believe both teams were in the double bonus (at least past bonus) before the 3rd quarter was even over. Westview isn't even a very physical team, as you put it, Westview has "Martin finesse".
  2. Suiter kept going on and on with one ref then he said something (I don't know what) and turned away abruptly. Whatever he said made another ref come over and warn him. Suiter ignored the warning and started on this other ref...the other ref then issued the technical.
  3. Coacht...on April 10th Westview only played dyer co once and won 4-3...please change that...thanks
  4. Westview's 'Spoon definitely is a threat from downtown; but seriously, can anyone from Westview NOT shoot the three?
  5. Westview made a statement this evening. They gave up only 3 points in the 2nd quarter and 2 points in the 3rd......13 total through three quarters......the girls played better than they've played all year.....Roney "touched" the ball 5 times the whole game, and I think all of those came in the first half. Saturday night's going to be some game....the house will be rocking.....bring the puke bags and blood pressure monitor cause its going to be tense.
  6. well, tonight was a good game, but kind of scary at first ....it seems to me that obion has improved a bit since last time, at least in ball control....they didn't have near as many turnovers as last game....i think the "work the ball around for a few minutes then shoot" game plan kind of caught westview unawares, but the wizard fixed things during the half....btw wescharge, i thought OC only scored 4 or 5 points in the third, but i could be wrong i don't know about the puke bags, wescharge, but i sure could have used some AC tonight!
  7. westview will be losing two seniors after this season.....and they have no juniors on the team....they start 3 sophs and a few freshmen are getting considerable PT....maybe in a year or two we will get at least a few props from 7AA
  8. it was intense somewhat....but i've seen better between these two.....maybe it was just me
  9. well.....gibson co. won tonight 43-40....there's really not much to say i guess....i kind of felt that the game was a bit anticlimactic.....i expected more aggressive play on both sides and a higher score....i will say though that based on what i've seen so far this year, Coach M appeared to be holding back a bit....and based on the way i've seen GC play in the past, Russell probably held back some too....i think both coaches are keeping the weapons hidden until after the regular season....but all in all, tonight was a pretty good game....i guess i'll have to wait a few weeks for the barnburners :justwrestle:
  10. I agree with wescharge....based on previous years, OC peaks around this time of the year and falls off the map come tournament time....last year they beat Westview at the pit (without Fuqua ).....then finished 4th (?) in the district....they have to stay consistent throughout the year if they want to give Westview and GC competition....Feb. and March matter a lot more than December and January
  11. well....jackson co. played in a competitive tournament in Myrtle Beach recently and did well coming in third....of course, they came out with the same record as Westview and their one loss was to the same team that gave Westview their one loss and both were by about the same number of points.....i guess what i'm saying is that jackson co. has played tougher teams and won....gibson co. has only played Peabody really, and while they are a good team, they are still class A....the true test will come when GC plays Westview next week....and all i can say about it is that it will be a good game since i've not seen GC play this year.....apparently some of the people on here think they've already gotten the gold ball though, did i miss something? btw....when you lose quickly in the state tournament, you don't come out the next season talking trash to the defending champions from the past 4 years....give me a break
  12. Westview has a great freshman class....a class that led Martin Middle School to win the West TN middle school championship last year. They have talent all across the board and most of them are getting some quality PT so far this season. I'm not going to name them all of course, but Van Atta basically grew up in a gym and she can shoot the lights out...and Owens looks as if she took ball handling lessons from Iverson, I've seen her put people on the floor from crossing them over so hard , but she's out with an ACL injury.....and then of course, there's Fuqua, a new one but still wearing #12....they just don't go away ....these girls obviously have areas that need improvement, but i think that applies to most players....Westview has plenty of young talent thats getting a lot of PT with only 2 seniors and 1 junior on the team (correct me anyone if i'm wrong with those numbers)
  13. Bellamy from Westview.....with her height and quickness, she's unstoppable in the post (and she can shoot the mid-range jumper as well).....she just hasn't quite realized it yet, but i think it started to register against Obion Co. last night...they had no answer for her.....once she starts to realize her talent, there will only be domination ....that goes for next season too.......and the next
  14. Westview's Rodney Davis is definitely making a statement so far this season. He's not afraid to shoot, but sees the court well and passes just as good as he shoots. He's been a top scorer frequently and tonight against Obion Co. he had 30 points....21 in the first half. Height is an issue right now, but he's got the skills to take it to the other teams anyways and is not afraid to drive in and score over players a number of inches (or feet ) taller. Obviously, with it being a bit early in the season, I haven't had the opportunity to watch many other young players, but I thought I should let people know about Davis....They will soon whether they want to or not
  15. I just watched one of the best high school boys basketball games i've seen in a long time. The final score was Westview 97, Obion Co. 93. For Obion Co., Shore (correct me if I'm wrong) had 47 points and Westview's freshman guard Rodney Davis had 30. The crowds were firing back and forth, there were technicals, ejections, amazing shots....it was intense down to the wire. Everyone in the gym definitely got their money's worth tonight. Anyone else have some thoughts or feel the same as me? As a side note, Westview girls came out on top as well.
  16. Westview's Rodney Davis has really stood out so far this season. As a freshman, he's earned a starting spot playing 1 and 2 guard and is scoring in the double digits each game. He sees the court very well and has great quickness. His height may be a slight problem right now, but I've seen him pull up and sink jump shots from inside or out with taller players in his face. Not much is being said about him yet, but I'm willing to bet that by the end of the season he will be receiving quite a bit of recognition.
  17. Latoya Bellamy - Westview Kaitlin Dudley - Gibson Co. Bianca Thomas - Chester Co. These girls are three of the best freshmen I've seen all year.
  18. Watch out for the 8th graders coming out of Martin Middle School that will all be playing for Westview next year. They won the TMSAA West Tennessee Regional Chamionship this season. Watch out for Van Atta who got tourn. MVP....she has a better shot and more range than most high school players. They have good players at every position, but the big factor is this: there are TWO Fuquas in this class! Uh-oh!
  19. Thats a bold statement, is there any reasoning behind it? Or are you just wishful thinking? Obviously you haven't been introduced to Roboleg Good Luck Meghan!!!!
  20. So let me get this straight. Since Beechboard and Hall are in an area of the state where they have the opportuunity to play better basketball teams, then that makes them more deserving of the award than Cavin because she isn't able to play as many teams of as high a caliber like the other two finalists. Whether or not you realize it, this is basically what you are saying. Cavin has played her share of tough opponents and performed well. Just becuase she didn't play against as many "good" teams doesn't make her less deserving. All three girls are very deserving. I'm rootin' for Cavin though. Let's take it to da ship Westview It's a bird, it's a plane.......it's...Roboleg!!!!
  21. How old are you anyways devilfanatic? No matter It appears that Westview and Gibson Co. have something to prove since they are in District 13AA and don't play any challenging teams. Only time will tell really. As long as the 'view and Roboleg are playing on Saturday, I'll be just fine.
  22. looks like someone is setting themself up to have their bubble popped with all these cocky posts Hey all you in the 'Boro.....get ready to meet Cavin and Roboleg
  23. By the way....I bet Rowsey didn't out score Cavin last night.
  24. Congratulations to her. That is definitely an honor.
