  1. I don't think TSSAA will say it is a violation of the all star rule. However, if no admission is charged then there isn't a violation anyway. Because the way the rule is written: (An all-star game is defined as any contest (where admission is charged either directly or indirectly) in which one or both teams is composed of players selected from two or more regularly constituted teams. ) For this to be recognized as an all star game two things would have to occur; admission is charged and teams are composed of players selected from two or more regularly constituted teams. Even though the word 'and' is not in the definition it is inferred. One could even argue the interpretation of the meaning of regularly constituted teams.
  2. Were any other places considered other than Coffee County? With the music festival going on, it could be an absolute nightmare as far as traffic. Exactly how far is Coffee County from Nashville and/or Murfreesboro? Is exit 105 further south than the 111 exit or is it before you get to 111 coming from Nashville? Any idea how much extra time one should allow for traffic? Thanks.
  3. two and out, maybe three games if they're lucky. They have the easiest road to the state every year. Once there, anyone can get hot and win it, but getting there is so hard. You would think Covington might even luck up and win it one year.
  4. Camden has more overall talent than any other team and should be the favorite to win it all. Goodpasture is my next choice. I think it will be one of those two teams, but Camden should win it with all the talent they have.
  5. I heard that Fairview's starting pitcher and Sycamore's first baseman will not be playing in Monday's region games because they were ejected in the district championship game against Sycamore. Is this true? If it is true, then Fairview has no chance against Camden. Sycamore will also be hampered so I think Camden and Lexington both win to advance. I have seen Camden a couple of times and I think they will win the state as they are clearly the best team around.
  6. I talked to a Sycamore parent who was at the game and they said it was one of the best games they had ever seen. Both teams are outstanding, along with Fairview who put out Harpeth yesterday in a close game. I am definitely going to try and make it to the championship game. I will be interested to see who wins the Waverly & Fairview game. Fairview is playing very well right now, but then again I would never count Waverly out of anything. Best of luck to all the teams remaining.
  7. Fairview's advantage was they got to play the #4 seed instead of the #3 seed in the elimination round. The Lady Indians played a really good game in their victory over Creek Wood. Hopefully they can carry that momentum with them for the next couple of games.

    11 AA

Creek Wood beat Harpeth yesterday 11-4. I also saw in the paper where Waverly beat Syamore 4-0.

    11 AA

Harpeth played well and it was anyone's game until the home run. The team has been playing well and very capable of beating anyone in the district.

    11 AA

Harpeth played well as did Montgomery Central. Good luck to all the local teams in this week's tournaments.

No problem. I also wasn't referring to you. I was referring to your post and what you said about just the facts basically being an idiot. I think everyone agrees on that.
  12. Looking forward to a good race in the baseball season. Could be better than everyone expected. Good luck to all of our teams playing in tournaments this weekend.

Just the facts, You are way off base if you think they need a coaching change at Waverly. Over the years, Coach Webb has been one of the most successful coaches in the state of Tennessee. I've been around the middle Tennessee districts for a long time as a coach, official and parent and Coach Webb is one of the most highly respected coaches by far. His teams are always well coached and his players, parents, and fans are always first class. I haven't had a chance to see them this year, but will in the coming weeks. Looking at the post by PTC, you must be a disgruntled parent or something. When I posted about the Waverly/Camden game it was in no way intended as a negative towards Coach Webb or the Waverly players. I was more impressed with how good Camden must be. For just the facts...you might want to check your facts as you have no credibility at all! Oh, by the way though...Coach Webb, we'd love to have you up here if you ever decided to leave.
  14. From what I have gathered, the new 50% rule doesn't affect basketball. Coach T talked with someone at TSSAA and they said AAU basketball could be played as soon as basketball season is over. The 50% rule didn't affect basketball since it was after basketball season. Although in reality it is still prior to the following season. So what they have done is made sure AAU basketball wasn't touched. For basketball coaches, they don't get spring practice but they can have all of their players play together on a "local AAU" team with unlimited practices and games, which can legally be coached by an assistant coach. I'm actually glad its ok because my kids play aau, but it's still not fair in regards to softball/baseball. For softball, girls can't play together in the fall, although it is 6 months prior to softball season starting. I don't like the idea of TSSAA telling me what my kids can and cannot do outside of school. Questions on a couple of scenarios: 1. If someone violates the rule, what are the consequences? 2. In the fall can I, as a father take 5 players from our h.s. team and 4 others (not on the h.s. team) and play against another father who has 5 from our h.s. team and 4 others (not on the h.s. team). Although the 5 on each of our teams are at the same school, legally under the rules they are playing on seperate teams and not in violation of the rule. 3. How is the rule going to be enforced, especially since no one really seems to understand it. I'm still perplexed by the rule and why it was really passed. I want my kids involved in as much as they can be involved in.
  15. I think more clarification, mainly by TSSAA needs to be put out there. Our coaches were told by a member of the TSSAA that the rule meant you could not have more than 3 players from your school playing aau ball on the same team in the spring time while they were in school. Once school was out for the summer then there were no restrictions. The key line is "by students that will play the following season" This, as told by a TSSAA member, means that if more than 3 play on a spring team then they are in violation if those same players are on the high school team the following season. I don't know how they are going to enforce the rule anyway. Another question, if 4 play on an aau team together...who decides which player in ineligible?

    11 AA

That is a very impressive win for Camden. Not just the win, but the difference in score and being that it was at Waverly. I take it that Camden is very good again this year. Will be interesting to see how Waverly does against Sycamore and Creek Wood. Looks like no one from 11AA may be a match for Camden though.
  17. What does it say for the state of girls basketball in our area when we only advance one team to the region semi finals and then no teams to the finals. This is in a year when district 12AA was actually way down. The AAA schools in our area aren't doing much better. Why are we falling behind other areas in regard to basketball. We like to think our district or area is good, but in reality we haven't done much to prove it in the post season.
  18. Very disappointed in the Lady Cougars perfomance this season. Better luck in softball.
  19. What are you smoking? I do think this year's Liberty team is better than the Bolivar team of 2 year's ago and will win their second straight state championship. Reading your other posts you are definitely the biggest homer around when it comes to Waverly. That Waverly team orf 2 years ago struggled against Harpeth in a year that Harpeth was way down. This year's Harpeth team has size, depth, an inside and outside game. I thought the Waverly team 2 years ago was good, but to say they would humiliate this year's Harpeth team? You lose any and all credibility you might have had. That Waverly team was rather small if I remember correctly. Harpeth is big and quick at every spot. Are any of those Waverly players playing anywhere now? Nothing wrong with being a homer, but take off the blue tinted glasses every now then. Oh, and if Liberty does beat Harpeth by 25 points, it will be right on par of what Bolivar did to Waverly that year.
  20. I don't see how you can say this year's Harpeth team isn't just as talented or has less ability than the Waverly team of 2 years ago or the Sycamore team of 3 or 4 years ago. It wasn't like those teams set the world on fire. They were no better or different than any other past district champions. I would definitely put this years Indians team up against either of those teams. Having said that, I realize Harpeth most likely won't beat Liberty, but they can get to the finals and earn a berth to the sectionals. One thing to remember as well, this year's Liberty team is better than the Bolivar teams of 2 and 4 years ago also. I'm realistic and know it will be a tough 2 games to just get to the region final and then it will be almost impossible to beat Liberty.
  21. Does all district get watered down with 16 choices for an all district team? I mean 16 out of a possible 40 starters in the district make the all district team. Why not have a 5 player first team and a 5 player second team. Why do some schools get 4 players while other schools only get one? So if you have a bad team then regardless if you have two players who deserve the all district you only get one player? As for all tournament, pick a 5 person all tournament team...it is watered down also. I do think the mvp and mvp of tourny was correct though.
  22. Sorry there, I wasn't bashing any player. I was pointing out a coaches decision to lift a suspension when the game was in jeopardy. But that's the coaches call anyway. The player in question is one of the best players in the district, but in my opinion I think the mvp should go to a Sycamore or Harpeth player. As for the region, the only team that has a chance for the region finals is the team that wins the district championship and I still don't see them getting by Bolivar, who will then face Liberty in the region finals. District 12AA is too tough for 11AA.
  23. The district is fortunate to have several quality coaches. I do think Coach Carr has done a great job this year in getting the Lady Cubs to the district finals in a year most thought would be a rebuilding year. I wouldn't be suprised to see the Lady Cubs upset Harpeth in the finals.
  24. He was actually suspended for the entire game, but for whatever reason (maybe being down 10 points at half) the suspension got lifted at halftime and he went off in the second half, scoring 29 points to lead the Cubs to the win. No way he deserves MVP though.
  25. I can understand you being a homer since you broadcast for Waverly, but please...so many excuses, guarantees and ridiculous statements especially considering Waverly still has a losing record. When is the last time they have even had a winning record. Like I said earlier, if they win their play in game and make it to the district tournament then maybe I'll start buying a little of what you're trying to sell about your team. I don't think all the other district teams are shaking in their boots worrying about playing Waverly like you think they are. I would rather play Stewart County and Fairview, then after that Waverly or maybe Montgomery Central. If you do end up broadcasting some of the region games I'll look forward to hearing how you are on the radio. I do hope Waverly can upset Creek Wood and Cheatham.
