  1. What are the old problems rearing their head for South Fulton that was brought up. Are they having problems?
  2. This rule will be like all of the other rules the TSSAA enacts. It will not be enforced. We have a heat rule that tons of teams do not go by. We have teams that openly practice whenever they want to. The TSSAA is great at coming up with rules but, like the NCAA, don't know how to enforce them.
  3. Looks like Spivey is gonna be official to McKenzie as d-coordinator. Interesting to see how he and Comer work together. They have very different personalities and approaches to things.
  4. I used to really respect your posts, now you are sucking up to the King of the Greenfield bashers Butchie.I understand why some on here are down on Greenfield, I know we have some crybaby posters. Those that whine about the size of the school and town and all that, but Greenfield football players have done none of that. So why don't some of you "adults" give our kids a break. They work as hard as kids from other places, and fight the same battles that your kids fight. If you have a problem with a poster take it out on him, not a whole community.
  5. Were you at the Greenfield game? Greenfield had a touchdown called back and shot themselves in the foot as well. They may be a better overall team, but there is no way they are 20 points better.
  6. Well your "star" coach willie obviously has no respect for the game. stealing 2nd AND 3rd when you are already up by 12 runs? thats just poor baseball etiquette. no respect Just like your star coaches call off the dogs? We listen to UC people tell us to get better when ya'll are beating us in other sports, so that is my advice to you.
  7. Explain to me exactly what you thought was unsportsmanlike. Those kids love playing baseball and they show a lot of enthusiasm. If you are talking about how bad they beat UC then your whole sports programs would be considered unsportsmanlike. I believe I heard the announcer wish ya'll good luck in substate and congratulate you on your season. I also saw several players wish you luck. So again, what was the problem?
  8. Don't tell me no one has any thoughts or predictions on this game. Come on people. County rivals playing each other in a win or go home game. I will get the ball rolling and say Greenfield by 5. Trenton is going to be rocking and rolling in a sea of orange and black. Both towns will bring everyone to this game.
  9. I did not know it was a derogatory remark to say someone is an athlete. I think if someone is a great basketball player they are also a great athlete. I really think it is all semantics and a pretty lame excuse for an argument. I firmly believe that Lake County's speed and defensive pressure had a lot to do with Greenfield's poor shooting. How could it not? I do not think that the girls names were called out in the order of the number of votes they got. Who cares anyways, TT Flowers is the best basketball player in the district. Who cares who finished second or third in the voting? What does it matter? Let's keep the conversations on the ball games and be adults. We teach our kids bad sportsmanship when we make excuses and cry over spilled milk. Just my opinion.
  10. Not trying to be a smart butt but i think he said he was biased before he made his prediction. As to the close games Greenfield has had recently, did you think maybe they have been playing vanilla as to not show much before the tournaments? I have been around sports long enough to know that you can not compare scores. It doesn't matter who beat who by how much when these two teams meet Saturday. Good luck to both teams.
  11. I think the theme of this post has been that most coaches do not talk about playing time to parents. The problem with your argument is there are a lot of parents that think a coach is incompetent because he doesn't play their kid. If there is an incompetent coach in place than parents have every right and should execute that right to complain. I am just tired of seeing parents at every level ruin sports for kids.
  12. There have been some great posts on this topic and I want to add my two cents. A lot of parents view their child's lack of playing time as mistreatment. It is sad that sometimes they can not see what everyone else does, that maybe their child does not need to be playing. No one understands just how tough a job coaching really is. You are balancing teaching classes, keeping up with a budget, watching film, game planning, public relations, child psychology, time management, game strategy, and anything else I might have left off. Several parents are only concerned with how much there son or daughter is playing, and whether you win or lose. Winning or losing is an important part of it, but not the only part. Coaches, for the most part, are spending more time with the kids than the parents. So by that assumption, the coaches are teaching these kids the skills they need to be successful at life. Parents who gripe to coaches about playing time are really missing the big picture. Are they going to go to their kids' jobs and gripe at their bosses. They are doing a lot more damage than good by doing that.
  13. I have seen him play twice and he makes everything look so easy. It doesn't look like he is giving maximum effort, but it is because he is so good. I hope he is really successful at the next level.
  14. Agree with you on some of the talented young players, but how many teams do you know that are successful with a four guard offense? The Perkins kid is improving but does he match up with the post players in the rest of the district? Try and remember this is the toughest district around and Coach Angelos and the boys are giving it everything they have. It is easy to sit back and say who should be playing without any accountability for your decision. I think the right people are playing for the most part, and they are improving. Just an opinion!!
  15. I know the record is not where we would like it to be at this time, but I just want to say as a fan I see the improvements that the boys are making. The two wins this week against Perry County and Clarksburg were both big wins and show that things are going in the right direction. Good luck boys and keep playing hard.
  16. Duck I appreciate that, it is just that several extremely negative comments have made about Greenfield's coach and players. I am just saying if you are aiming for 2-3 people say it to them, and not about Greenfield's staff and players. If you look back you will see that there have been some pretty bad things said. I know it's just a message board, but I think we all could show a little bit more class.
  17. Butchie I think you know that success in one sport does not equal success in all sports. Not being a smart butt but just look at McKenzie basketball. When the current coach at Greenfield took over the program they had won 4 games the previous two seasons. His first two seasons they won 9 games. Last year they only one 1 but were absolutely in every game and easily could have won 5 or 6. I just ask you not to judge a team by posters on a message board, and by the scoreboard because that doesn't always tell the story. You don't know about injuries, number of coaches at practice, and various other things that play a big role.
  18. Sorry to crash a thread about Dresden, but I think Butchie and a few others are lumping all Greenfield fans into one group because of the whining of a few. I guarantee Greenfield's coach isn't making any excuses about the size of their school and who they have to play. The fact is Greenfield is smaller than most schools, but you have to give it to their kids for how hard they play. The bottom line is winning, but I guarantee you that those boys are learning life lessons that will help them later on. Since this is a Dresden thread, I will say that Dresden is losing a lot this year but they should be pretty competitive.
  19. From what I understand John Wild and his wife were very hard people to get along with. If someone only loses 2 games in 2 years, but alienates the whole town is it worth it? I don't know this firsthand, but I have had some Bradford people tell me this. So my question for you Volfan is do you put winning in front of everything else?
  20. I just want to make an observation about the conversations that have been taking place on this thread. 1. I think people have a bad habit of putting all fans from one school together becausen a couple of people go overboard. 2. I think people go overboard denegrating a bunch of high school kids because of the above reason. 3. I think people should pull for their teams and not worry about others. 4. The TSSAA put the new classifications in place and they are not going to change for awhile. Wherever you are you must live with it. Making excuses for playing bigger schools is not doing your kids any favors. They still have to play them and you are planting a built in excuse into their brains if they do not play well. Just my thoughts.
  21. What would be this coaching issue you speak of, Mr. I know everything? Inquiring minds are sitting breathlessly awaiting your reply. I feel like I am in Oz waiting for the all and powerful OZ.
  22. Purple and gold I think you also need to acknowledge that our boys played you very hard. No you were never really threatened, but you only had two offensive scores after three quarters. Ya'll have a very good team and I give credit where credit is due. I think you have to be a little surprised that we held you as long as we did. The stats are in UC's favor no doubt about it, but our boys never gave up and there is a lot to be said about that.
  23. I think it is funny that Butchie wants to make fun of someone for correcting his English and tell him this Bud's for you. In the meantime he is on a thread that has nothing to do with his team belittling high school kids and an entire town. Hope it makes you feel like a big man.
  24. Hey Butchie here's a quarter go buy yourself a life. For Greenfield to be such a peon(sp?) you sure have nothing better to do but get on here and dog them. Worry about McKenzie and leave Greenfield alone. Every year you are completely condescending and disrespectful to Greenfield's players. I know we have some people on here who complain about who we have to play and the size of our school. But I assure you our boys come to play every week, no matter the opponent. I just think your messages need to be directed to adults and not derogatory towards high school kids.
  25. I have heard some rumors about Gilmer being let go, but have seen absolutely nothing in any of the papers. Is this true or is it just wishful thinking on the part of Tigers' fans.
