Very exciting time for Greenfield baseball right now. Congratulations on a big region championship yesterday. Heath Crouse may have given the gutsiest performance I have ever seen a freshman give. That is a huge start for any player, let alone a freshman. Tomorrow will be tough, but we are all behind you guys. Good luck.

Sometimes, believe it or not, teams do things to try and take away the best players. I bet Coach T knows what is best for his team.

Was this years AP all state team released yet? I thought maybe I had missed it.

Daniel Ricketts from Greenfield is going to sign with Bethel to play football. Big schools are great but a college education is a college education.

The coaching staff is not the problem, it is the talent. The talent went down for the first time in several years.

I would like to congratulate Chase McMullen from Greenfield on making all state. He also won region 7-A defensive player of the year. Good kid who had a fine career.

The game was pretty close for three quarters. Greenfield had several careless turnovers. They really turned it on and pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Why is everyone's first reaction in a losing season to fire the coach? A coach is only as good as his talent, andd let's be honest the talent was not there this year. The talent would not have been there for Sturdivant or anyone else who might have been coaching. Bruceton is not immune to the same talent cycles as every other small school. It goes up and it comes down. I understand it is hard to swallow that because you have avoided that at Bruceton for so long, but it did finally happen. Bruceton will be back and Gilmer deserves a chance to get them there.

McKenzie and Greenfield have had absolutely zero conversations about playing next year. I know that for a fact. Let's be honest that game is not a rivalry. It has been nothing but lopsided in McKenzie's favor. Is that the real reason you fans want to keep playing it.

I played at the orange mound several years ago and we were kicking extra points when one went over the fence. Three kids ran over there and ran away with the footballs. Also our locker room was broken into during the first half. Another example, we played at oakhaven and the game administrator gave us this advice. After the game they will want to pray with you but just get on your bus and go home for your safety.

I want to say congratulations to all of the teams in 7A. The McKenzie/Union City game was one of the most exciting games I have ever been to. I wish i could have seen the lake and gleason game. All of the teams in 7A have something to be proud of after this season. All of our teams advanced in the playoffs, and that just shows how tough the conference really was. Greenfield and South Fulton came close and probably vould have advanced also. Good luck to McKenzie and Lake County I hope one of you goes to the Boro.

Colton Speed is not the only player Union City has. He is the one who gets the most publicity, and rightfully so. Union City has a very aggressive offensive line, and two or three other backs that most teams in West Tennessee would love to have. Stopping UC's running game is not as easy as putting a lot of players in the box, if it was more people would have stopped them. I just get cracked up at all the armchair quarterbacks and their in depth gameplans with such pearls of wisdom as "stop Colton Speed". I bet no one else has thought of that.

The kicker from Union City should be mentioned also, that kid has really got a leg. Who gets how many on the team is determined by how they finish in the region standings. There may be some deserving kids who don't get in based on that fact.

Colton Speed is an excellent football player no one can question that. He is hands down the MVP of his region. The thing that impresses me the most is his attitude. He could talk trash and be cocky and arrogant, but he doesn't. When he scores a touchdown he gives the ball to the official and goes back to the huddle. On top of his awesome stats he is a classy kid and that says a lot in my book.

I am late to this thread so forgive me if I say something that has already been mentioned. If you wonder why more and more players have poor attitudes, look no further than the stands. When these kids get home after games and all they hear is how terrible the coaches are, they never have to take responsibility for their actions. Most coaches will take the blame for a loss and give the kids credit for the wins, but in the end kids have to take responsibility also. Every parent thinks their little johnny is a superstar, but if he is not playing there is probably a very good reason.

Dresden's head football coach Scott Hewitt had six bypass heart surgery last week. I am sure his family and players would appreciate your prayers throughout his recovery.

In my experience most teams that I have faced that ran the wing t should not have been running it. It has been characterized as a slow white boy offense, but I completely disagree with that. The only teams I have ever seen be successful have had speed.When you do not have speed you have no outside threat, and teams can load up to stop the trap. JMO

What do West Carroll fans think of their head coaching hire?

Lake County has beaten Greenfield badly the past 3 seasons, but before that go back and look at the scores. What is disgraceful is the whining that is going on. Talent in Single A schools goes in cycles and Lake County is no exception to that. Four years ago you would have been jumping up and down for a .500 season. How soon they forget.
