  1. I have not seen Trousdale or JCS play but I think Union City is probably the best in 1A. They have brought their work ethic and preparation from years of double A ball to single A, and they are ahead of the pack.
  2. Lake County could definitely be a cinderella. They are improved from last year and can score with just about anybody. If anyone stops their running game they are in trouble though, I think I have seen theri quarterback throw about 5 balls in three years of playing them, and it wasn't pretty. Good luck to Lake County.
  3. I think that Union City has the potential to get to the Clinic Bowl, I don't know if they can win it though. No one has been able to stop their running game, so their passing game is kind of an unknown. I think they will need to be relatively balanced to be able to win the whole thing. Good luck to them and the rest of Region 7-1A.
  4. A good coach should be able to lead his players by example. If you are living the way you are supposed to live the kids will listen to you. If they know that you are out drinking and partying all of the time, they will tune you out when you tell them not to. It's equally important to teach a boy to be a man, as it is to teach him X's and O's.
  5. No disrespect intended toward Chad or Matt, Brandon and Jeremy played for four years and I was just acknowledging that. Chad and Matt play hard but basketball is not their passion as is the case for the other two. I am disappointed that no one is responding to this post, if we were still playing it would be covered up.
  6. I just want to thank the seniors that played in their last game Thursday night. You have given your school and your community something to be proud of over the years. Brandon Shane and Jeremy Smith have given everything they have to give over the last few years and I want you to know how much it is appreciated. You have gotten it done on the court and more importantly in the classroom. Thanks for the ride and good luck in the future. Greenfield fans please sound off and thank these young men for what they have done for our community.
  7. Will Dresden repeat in District 15A? Does anyone have any thoughts on this West Tennessee district? It should be pretty balanced this year, nobody had any major losses from last years' teams.
  8. Justin Lyles from Greenfield has about 70 tackles through 6 games, and he has had over 250 over the past two seasons.
  9. I think we as coaches have a responsibility to the student-athletes to try and teach them about life situations. If we turn our heads and look the other way, then what have we done to help them? I don't advocate drug testing as a witchhunt to find out who is using and just punish them; I advocate it to help a kid straighten their life out. There are too many parents who don't want to believe that their kid is using drugs so they choose to ignore it. This is multiplying the problems that we already face. Sports are voluntary, if you don't want to play ball because of a drug test then that is your choice. I would like to ask any of you who oppose drug testing, if you have ever buried one of your players. A sixteen year old kid belongs on the playing field, not in a pine box!!

Does anyone have any advice for a young coach who is having trouble motivating his players to get busy in the classroom?
  11. I think that the Greenfield girls have been a much improved team. These girls play with fire and a desire to win, and that is a direct result of the hard work they have put in. Coach T you are doing a good job keep up the good work. We are all proud of you girls.
  12. Everyone who has given suggestions on this post has given good advice. You need to strengthen your triceps to improve your bench, but I also think that you need to do the towel bench. Put a rolled up towel or a foam pad under your shirt, this will decrease how far you have to go down on your bench press. You bring the bar down until it touches the towel or pad, and then you go back up. This will get your body used to the heavier weight, and it will increase you bench over time.
  13. I have known Coach Bowlin for about five years, and have seen how hard he works and how much he cares about his players. Any school who hires him has made a good decision for their basketball program. Good luck Coach.
  14. I bet I speak for everyone when I say that we have heard enough about what might have been for Adamsville. You got beat so deal with it. Greenfield had a great run and don't try to take anything away from that. Don't make me start another Adamsville whining thread.
  15. I know everyone thinks that Greenfield is a Cinderella story, but they are winning becuase they know that they belong where they are right now. They work hard and play team basketball. When someone is having an off-night somebody else steps up and gets it done. I hope everyone keeps doubting us, it is great motivation. Good luck guys and we are all proud of you. Bring home the ball!!!!
  16. I think obviously you need to become more flexible. In addition to the other suggestions people have given you, I recommend the box squat. You will need a box or a bench to sit on as you squat. You go down, sit on the box, and than stand up. This gets your body used to handling more weight, and it will improve your squat. Most importantly you need to stretch and do lunges.
  17. I am still looking for a prediction for district 15A. Who do you think is going to take home the trophy?
  18. The point that I was trying to make is that soccer may be important in other countries, but the majority of Americans could care less. If people had to choose between soccer and football, more people would choose football.(in this country)If you would rather play soccer that is your opinion and you are entitled to it, just Like I am entitled to mine.
  19. Hey davinci I guess they let women play soccer because of the physical nature of it huh. You have got to be joking me that you think that boring sport compares to football. I guess you think the world stops when the World Cup is on just as it does for the Super Bowl.Watching a soccer game is second only to watching paint dry, but paint drying is gaining momentum.
  20. I am glad that soccer fans can all get together and have a huge choir practice. Football fans come to watch America's best sport. I realize you have to be in pretty good shape to play soccer, but you have to be in shape to be a cheerleader also.
  21. I don't really know much about Adamsville, but I know that Greenfield plays with a lot of heart and emotion. They have been counted out in their last two games and they won those, so I guess they relish the role of the spoiler. I look for a great game. Go jackets!!!!

    Team Rules???

    1. If you miss practice for an unexcused reason you will not start on Friday night> 2. Do not coach another player that is our job. 3. Pick your teammates up never put them down. 4.Get in trouble with the law pack your bags. 5. Don't talk about team issues to the public.
  23. I don't think all that many people run the 5-2 as their base anymore. I think you are asking to get off-tackled all night long. I love facing a 5-2 because you can not only run on it but you can throw in the flats all night too.
  24. To say that there are no good players in our area is stupid. We just don't get the publicity that is given out in other areas in the state. We may not be loaded but there are several quality players in our area.

    district 15A

Who is the team to beat in District 15A this year. Is South Fulton or Greenfield going to win it? I know both teams lost some quality players last year. Can Dresden or Gleason make a run at these two teams?
