don't you have to weigh 285 pounds to play qb for kentucky?
  2. a little off topic, but i have heard rumors that after the playoff game between bhs and fhs this season coach crawford shook hands with members from the blackman administration. i know that he wanted the job when it opened, but blackman made the costly error of putting coach alsup at the head position. is there any chance that crawford will be taking the blackman coaching job next year or whenever it opens? if so, it will be hard for me to hate them like i do now, because i played for crawford for three years at riverdale until he took the bhs position and i have the utmost respect for him and what he does on the field. he is arguably the top coach in the state.
  3. thanks big sneaky. i have the deepest respect for fans like you, regardless of the school. i would also love to see a rematch of these two teams next year. oh yeah, my "put up or shut up" comments are direct towards fans like wboyd who have no idea what type of posts should be on coacht. to any respectable gtwon fans i may have offended by those comments, i apologize.
  4. Well, now, not so fast - hoops does have a point. He said the"majority of people" don't care about D2. There are billions of people all over the world that have never heard of D2 TN high school football, so they probably don't care. I am certain that is what he meant. Real football fans in this state do care.
  5. wboyd, you are truly a class act. i guess the best way for me to speak for my warriors and warrior fans on coacht is just to say that your RED DEVILS better put up or shut up next year. and i have news for you---riverdale is not done with germantown yet either. dont get me wrong, gtown had an awesome squad this year, but its hard for me to believe that the talent coming back to gtown is as huge as that the warriors are retaining. i believe that rhs is THE TEAM to beat next year, but it will not be easy, because 5a never is. example: 1999 rhs team--smoked everybody in regular season, but got beaten by 4 seed dickson county 21-14 in OT. riverdale will be loaded, but they still must go out and perform every friday night. i'm already looking forward to next season. GO WARRIORS!!! 2004--STATE TITLE #4!!!!!!!!
  6. all i have to say is that i was completely shocked at the outcome of this game. at one point, i think 92% were picking lipscomb to win this game on coacht. huntingdon, you guys definitely played with enough heart for a team at any classification. hats off to you guys. and also, to the tailback from huntingdon--can i get your autograph? c'mon, SIX touchdowns? that is insane!!!!
  7. fhsrebel27, your comments about you think franklin could have beaten riverdale are just what i have come to expect from some of you franklineers. yes, we are the ones with the silver ball, and if franklin deserved to own either the gold or the silver, you all would have beaten germantown and gone to the dance yourselves. franklin has boasted two great teams the past two years, but they are just not championship caliber yet. congrats to fhs coach jim campbell on a great season. hope to see great things from you wherever you are coaching at. now that that's said and done with, hats off to germantown. i honestly thought that riverdale would have had to much speed and depth at the skill positions, but you guys did an excellent job on pursuit angles and with all the mistakes and miscues riverdale had you deserved the game more. to my warriors, keep your heads up. no one expected you guys to succeed this year, and what you did was amazing. you all have a wealth of talent returning next year, so stay focused on what you need to do to finish it off right next season. hit the weights hard all year long and come together and no one will stop you guys next year. i'll be in the stands as much as possible.
  8. i'm gonna have to go with my boy ralph king from the riverdale team of 2000 and 2001. over 100 td's for his career and well over 5,000 yards rushing. tough to beat that. may be a little biased since i played with him. however, everyone keyed on him in 2001 and he still had over 2000 yards. give him props.
  9. tdcman, as a player, lavergne's field is the worst. i played against them last year at their place and it was pitiful. too many divets, holes, and it was extremely flooded. we had a couple of guys injure themselves just because of the turf.
  10. Congrats to edmiston and divens. i played against both last year as a senior on the o-line for riverdale, and divens was by far the best lineman we faced all year, and by the way he played and carried himself, i had no idea he was not a senior. Best of luck to both in their football futures, i look forward to watching both play big time ball. And no matter what is said, the pit is the greatest and most fun place to play in this state. Unfortunately, it is also the hardest. Congratulations falcons on a great season.
  11. Riverdale Warriors- Dave Thomas(QB)-WATCH OUT!!!!!!! Chris Perkins(DE-TE)-BEAST Rahmel Oliver(WR-WLB)-THE HEADACHE Gaston Miller(TB)-THE YOUNG GUN Derente Frazier(TB)-BLAZING BACK Tamar Butler(FB-LB)-HARDNOSED PUNISHER Justin Jones©-MOST CONSISTENT O-LINEMAN Many others returning--only five seniors start on this year's team. the rest are juniors and sophomores. Little doubt who'll be #1 in next year's pre-season poll, especially if my warriors bring home the hardware!!!!!!!!!!! ROLL TRIBE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. jda9703, you best concentrate on beckaert's geography class hun. haha didn't know you were on coacht yet. don't care what you say either, the o-line wasn't so bad last year! Remember when i knoched chunk down in the shower? pretty funny. And oh yeah, i'm gonna talk to that girl.
  13. i don't want to jinx my boys, but i say that the warriors will prevail. i did not expect to see them here, after all of us seniors from last year graduated. hats off to coach rankin and the staff, especially britton for working his magic with yet another inexperienced offensive line. he is just as good as any coach in this state, and he succeeds because he becomes a second father to us on the o-line. i'll be in the stands saturday, so don't let me down warriors! show germantown football what middle tn football is all about!
  14. i don't know much about this game, but all my support is behind the rebs. i used to work at mtsu with jim campbell, the rb's coach at fhs, and he is a class act. best of luck this friday, and i would love to see a matchup of two middle tn teams, franklin and my riverdale warriors. GO REBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. crazy4cats, just one question--who are you to comment on what is in the hearts of middle tenn high school football players? i see you raisin' cain on oakie about his comments. take your own advice--get a grip. oh, and while you do, sit back and watch a CLASSY riverdale squad from(yep, you guessed it)middle tn take the field. all this talk is useless; just make sure your boys at OR have whatever your talking about in their hearts when the whistle blows, if thats how you want to judge their character. RHS 35 OR 17 ROLL WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Oh yeah, i got your back too, oakie)
  16. oaklandfballer, what position did you play? Phillip was with me on the o-line last year, and i was number 66. big phil is pretty good, and he had a heck of a game against lincoln county last week. i would expect that you can throw out home field advantage in this one, based on the fact that riverdale beat the number one team in the state at the hardest place in 5a to play, "the pit". our boys will show up, and when that final buzzer goes off, i hope our boys are on their way back to mtsu for a chance at a fourth state title. Good luck to both teams This war will be won in the trenches. Dig deep warriors.
  17. i was a senior last year for the warriors, and i can honestly say that after my class graduated, i didnt expect this years team to gel the way that they have. OR is known for great football teams, power football, and a winning tradition. BUT SO IS RIVERDALE! I have no idea what to expect from this year's OR team, so i can only base my predictions on what i see at RHS. We have a sophomore back, Gaston Miller, that could start at just about any school in TN at any level in my opinion. And i personally don't believe that OR has played a defense as fast or stout as RHS's this year. Now i could be proved wrong, but i really don't see a team running the ball all over RHS this late in the season. I am sure the OR backs are legit and are dangerous, but i have a hard time believing that they can be as dangerous as michael edmiston, who riverdale's defense harassed all night. Also, watch our for our offensive specialists, especially at the tb and qb positions. dave thomas is----SHIFTY, for lack of a better term. All i can say is, WRAP UP. and our two excellent tbs, gaston miller and derente frazier, stay fresh and can easily cause yall at OR headaches all nite long. keaton anderson, jervell ford, and rahmel oliver run crisp routes and oliver( at around 6'3" ) can jump over folks to catch HUGE passes. two way starter at te and de chris perkins, at 6'5" 250 is one of the best all around athletes i've seen in a while, and he has a knack for the ball. oh yeah, my younger brothers on the o line have come together so well the past few weeks, its gonna be hard to stop this steamroller. they ain't overly huge, but they will get after your butt and wont ever stop fighting. bottom line, we'll see what happens when they strap up the pads and button down the hatches. Good luck to both teams, and i hope my boys bring home the win. remember boys, we have never lost a semi final game. i hope to watch yall next saturday at mtsu. BRING IT OAK RIDGE AND BRING IT HOME RIVERDALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. well, i understand that OR may have a great sweep or that their tb better not get in our secondary, but i also understand RHS has two tbs that'll leave a trail of burnt grass behind em if they get loose. I honestly dont think, and not just because of who i am cheering for, that OR will be able to line up and pound the ball on RHS or break big ones outside. RHS defense is too strong and too fast now for anyone to do that, as was shown friday nite by their hounding of LC Mr. Universe Michael Edmiston, who i would argue is the best athlete in 5a, if not in the state. Good luck to both teams on friday, but i will be in mississippi with riverdale--yeah, he's my dad. To the staff at RHS, there are not enough kind or gratifying words to say about yall. Yall always manage to get the most out of your players, because you are the kinds of coaches that kids want to play for. Best of luck on friday at oak ridge, and bring back a win. As always, my last thought goes to the offensive line--do your thing boys. Yall have surprised the heck out of me, so just be consistent and do what you do. Whether we win or lose is dependent on yall, so fight your butts off so i can watch yall at Floyd Stadium in a couple of weeks. YOUR MY BOY CHUNK!!!!!
  19. To LC's team, congratulations on a tremendous season and congratulations to coach thompson, who i met at a j.v. scrimmage my junior year. You guys are a class act. However, to my boys at RHS, THATS MY DAWGS!!!!!!!!! I played with ya'll last year and i have to say that ya'll have pleasantly surprised me. Now, go and finish where we left off last year! CONGRATS TO LINCOLN COUNTY, and whatever your name is #72, i played against you last year at the pit when the warriors came to f-town, and you gave me fits. Linemen are the REAL athletes. Go out there and represent chunk, ricky, phillip, justin, kiel, all ya'll. it all starts with ya'll against oak ridge.
  20. riverdale will be playing powerhouse teams like wilson central and lavergne. those games ought to be close and fun to watch. riverdale never schedules games against powerhouse programs like mba, bwood academy, or gallatin anymore, and i think that hurts us a little when playoff time comes and we play 10-1 or 11-2 teams instead of 3-7 or 1-9.
  21. oakland's jonathan carter was a great d-end, but i would have to say the absolute best i went against was #44 from brentwood in the state championship, david reed i think was his name. i had to pass block him all nite and he gave me fits, as did carter in the two games riverdale played oakland.
  22. blaze206, you truly are the epitome of why i as a riverdale senior football player this year loved to play blackman. your players, the only ones that actually matter in the game, are pretty respectable, especially with players like wes martin, zach gilliam, and rico turner. there are some i don't like at all (i won't call any names, but #20 comes to mind for some reason), but overall the team itself is a good group of guys, some of which i hang out with and even go to church with. but, the student body of blackman is the most tastless group of people i've ever seen, and its always great to see people like yourself jawing off before games, talking about something you know nothing about, and then getting to see your little tears coming down your eyes after we ended your season. riverdale is the best program in the town of mboro and in rutherford county, and say what you want, you know its true. oh yeah, you were asking for someone to explain how we lost to lincoln county, just tell me how lebanon snuck up on you and i'll give you my answer(rhs 52, lhs 14) c'mon now, lebanon got beat by lavergne! and one more thing, you explained your reasoning behind your vast knowledge of the game as your most impressive record of bhs this year. well good for you, but if you knew anything about football or if you understood anything about talent and tradition, you wouldn't have picked franklin to lose to bhs and you would've certainly known better to expect bhs to topple the heart of the warriors. (in case any of the words were too large, there is a book called a dictionary that could help you better understand, if your reading skills would allow to do so.)

    top nose gaurd

i guarantee if you ask him, jeramey anderson from riverdale will tell you he is the best nose in the state. and even though he only weighs 190 at best and is shorter than snoopy, it would be hard to argue with him after seeing what he accomplished this year on our run to the blue cross bowl. no center was quick enough to block him, and he benches close to 300 pounds. he recovered fumbles and sacked quarterbacks all year long, so yeah, i agree with him. he was pretty good.
  24. how can you people have a thread about the "best db's in the state" and not have mentioned my boy brian campbell from riverdale. we played together for four years, and the kid always has had a nose for the ball. nine int's, and first team in the AP and sports writers all state teams. and not only can he pick em off, he brings the wood too, just ask the crawford boy from oakland. oh yeah, to be a white boy, he sure can celebrate after he makes a play. the boy's got moves.
  25. sorry fromthetop2, but the best long snapper i've ever seen at the high school level is my fellow offensive lineman ben brazzell at riverdale. auburn is interested in him for his snapping abilities, and he has been clock in the .6-.7 second range. and he's consistent. congrats to brentwood on winning the whole thing, its the best feeling in the world. coach crawford is a great motivator, and i know you guys were hyped. #44 for bhs was bad dog, and i had to try to pass block him from the third quarter on with a broken right wrist. watch out for rhs next year, and i'll be paying my way in to games.
