  1. Karen Taylor-Pelham from Motlow????? When did she play at Motlow - she wasn't on the team this year!! Could that be a type-0? Congrats to Candace, Crystal and Lindsey from Motlow - looks like Tennessee Wesleyan wants to be in the winner's brackets now!!!
  2. Enjoyable Thread . . . But, seriously, when were the first TENNESSEE high school fastpitch softball teams formed - who were they - where did they play? - when was the first school softball field built & who? - who were the coaches - just interested in how fast the sport has grown and the leaders in the formation - we might have missed a milestone and didn't know it!! I did enjoy your story, Top G, on the history of "cow patty" softball (who's Goodlo?), but . . . Any true "historians" out there?????
  3. AMEN ! ! ! ! Respect is due a man with such a legacy from the "early years" of Tennessee high school softball (by the way, when was the first team formed in high school softball??? - can he be referred to as one of the "Old-Timers" yet??) Also, besides "Range" he's aka "Biggie B" - as well as other names!! Blake . . . Top Gun . . . might be an interesting subject!!
  4. Any good scrimmages or playdays this weekend?? Are there any preseason playdays scheduled? . . . jusluvsports

See, footballfanatic, that's what you learn when you get into your med school: what is slanderous and what is not. Can you say "class action"? Whether it is "slanderous" or not, that post was totally unnecessary. You must know some of the "people you talk about" pretty good to be able to judge "integrity and morals". There is only one Judge! As I know most of the past players very well, I think they would extend to you a sincere invitation to "erase away" a lot of your "memories of the teams before that put winning softball games" and concentrate on the team that is because there's no need for comparison. Coffee County has an excellent reputation of being a well-trained, talented team which will continue - there's no need to show everyone why they also have a reputation for being "offensive" - for the lack of a more fitting word. If you truly want to erase the past, then try being positive and leave off the offending comments. It sounds like Mr. "215" has beaten you to the punch. Come on everybody, make us proud to be from Coffee County, not regretful! And, I trust the "underclassmen" on the team have recovered from the "egotistical seniors" who "impose their power" and hope they have a great year!
  6. I heard he will also be coaching the boys there - is there any truth to this rumor??
  7. It's a single elim game - then the winner plays the winner from the other bracket, as I understand it.
  8. I once knew a coach that used that signal Do they use the "funky chicken" in NCAA too??
  9. The opening ceremony should be the time that ALL the teams get introduced to the other teams there, informed as to the various activities, given schedules, directions, etc. etc. Memphis (or any other venue) should take advantage of this time to market their site and give the teams the respect they deserve for getting there! As for the time of the ceremony, it is the opening ceremony!! It should open the tournament (original idea, huh?) I am sure there is not one team that would not be happy to try their best to make arrangements to be at such a ceremony - the week is "blown" for the players anyway, and if the teams that have to play Tuesday have to make arrangements then fairness says that all should because it's just a matter of the draw anyway! You can bet the teams that are making their first trip to State would want to "take it all in!"
  10. TIME OUT ! This started as a thread about Riverdale's new coach - why does Smith County and Oakland need to be concerned? Oh, yeah, Coffee County was mentioned - this is getting kinda OLD!!!! I'm still interested in hearing this week, I guess, who the new Riverdale coach is; and if it is the head coach from Coffee Co., who will the new Coffee coach be??? (maybe that will get everybody off the rivalry thing)
  11. T O U R N A M E N T . . .
  12. And what are you implying QueenBee? My opinion is that just looking at softball as its own unique sport that it is at the state level there needs to be 3 umpires!!!!!!! Period - there doesn't need to be a mention of baseball v. softball - it doesn't matter ..... games played at this level need the highest level of assurance that the games are called with the highest level of integrity!!! The official at the plate has his hands full, and there is no way one official can call the rest of the field the way it deserves to be called for the teams that have put it on the line to get to this level. If it is implied that Memphis didn't want to spend the money, then TSSAA should take care of that matter - they know the importance of having 3 officials!!! . . .or should by now!!!!!
  13. TopGun, I think I have another clue for you - look at the times of day that Lady Dunn posts - maybe she's another "busy" teacher?
  14. 16 year old soccer player - high school experience - JV MVP of the year (ineligible for V this year) - looking for a challenging schedule and exposure for future in college soccer - usually play sweeper and offense - lead team in scoring - Also, could anyone tell me what would be the best tournaments to play in this summer for exposure??
  15. Just wondering - where do the pitchers from Soddy take pitching lessons - also, where do the pitchers from Cumberland Co. take lessons??
  16. Just wondering . . . is Megan's dad her main pitching coach or is she a student of Club K? I read the article in the Tennessean about her, and most of what was mentioned was about her dad.
  17. Yeah, I was at one of the very first NSA tournaments they ever played in - the Coffee County Classic in Manchester - they were the cyclones in that columbia blue uniform - they were very "green" since they were coming out of Dixie Youth, and that wasn't that long ago - "they've come a long way, baby!!" There's a lot to be said for staying together for so long, but, honestly, you've got to have a coach that has a huge interest in keeping all of those pitchers happy - we have had soooooooo many quit and/or get discouraged before they really had a chance to develop!! My hat's off to your program!!!!
  18. There's also a great station that carries nothing but "southern sports" that I have seen several SEC softball games on - help me out here, but I think it's the CSS channel - watched Auburn V. Tennessee just a couple of weeks ago - it's great!!
  19. Well said, LadyPat - great game by both teams, and that's the way it is supposed to be - it is still my philosophy that Lady Luck has a big part to play in sports, and last night was no different - she smiled on The Patriots the first half of the game and on the Lady Raiders the second half - But, for sure, it took 2 great teams to have a game that good - I know everyone in the stands (and it was standing room only back to the parking lot!!) got their money's worth and the locals will be there Friday!! The Lady Patriots are a class act as far as I am concerned, and we certainly hope these two great teams are playing in Memphis next week until the last bell chimes!! Now, Oakland, go get SODDY!!!!! And LADY RAIDERS put it on Cumberland County, and could you start your "stampede" a little earlier than the 4th inning??
  20. What about Dobyns-Bennett and Morristown East? What was the score/innings?
  21. VERY INTERESTING - Oakland doesn't commit any errors - hmmm . . . Are their players making the all-state team? Who have they played outside their district this year - have they gone to any tournaments? Who have they "smoked" this year?? We haven't heard much about them this year -
  22. I know I am speaking for all of us when I say that the Class of 2003 Lady Raiders will also PERSONALLY miss Coach Troy from Lincoln County - we will take with us so many good memories of the games that we have played with Lincoln County - we always knew it would be a good game, that we always had to have our "A" game on, and we always knew we had played against a well- coached team - you have always been a great supporter of all of the girls you have been around in softball and we want to personally thank you for being a great friend of ours - you have always treated us with "respect" (if that's the proper word for our "elder"!!) - and we sincerely hope that you know that we respect you as a coach - Best of luck to the LC Lady Falcons - it looks like you've got a great team going on AGAIN!! Nothin' but love . . . By the way, we play tonight at 7:00 at home v. Lebanon - we'd love to see ya there!!
  23. RUN, FOREST, RUN (GUMP THAT IS) - THE SUN'S SHINING - THE SUN'S SHINING - GET ON YOUR HORSES AND GET ON THE FIELDS!!!!!! DON'T LOOK AT THAT DOPPLER!!
  24. When you look at some of those same teams in the other tournaments also, just because Soddy, Goodpasture, etc. were not there does not mean it wasn't a good tournament - sounds like it should also be considered - just an outsider's point of view
