  1. You are nitpicking a little on me now, when you know that I was talking about last season. I am well aware and appreciative of Kingston's past, but as some of the Yellow Jacket "faithful" have demonstrated, the past matters little. I remember walking the sidelines at last year's Austin-East contest, hearing those "faithful" cursing King and his staff...which in my opinion is pathetic.
  2. NT, accidentlly hit enter too early. [Edited by TankTalk on 9-10-02 9:30A]
  3. It's kind of like the whole heat tragedies we have witnessed the past few years. Players today go from 65 degree bedrooms playing video games to practice, while players from the past went from working outside to practice. Much easier transition for the body.
  4. Pay attention swamp, I said "and like last year." You sound like those Alabama fans who still talk about Bear Bryant. You have to live in the now brother.
  5. It seems like simple math to me, bigger schools will win most of the time. I know the Roane County thing, but I also know Kingston has pretty much dominated the series in the county for one main reason....they have more to choose from. The years the Harriman, Rockwood or Oliver Springs teams have had the athletes to win, has made for some special games for those fans, but just like it is everywhere, the bigger school will win most of the time. Oh, by the way, Rockwood 28, Kingston 24 [Edited by TankTalk on 9-9-02 11:25P]
  6. ELA, I have been devestating on Playstation 2 lately calling plays and such. If you want, I can come help out.
  7. I have to agree. Can't start picking and choosing what to get rid of. Like coach said in his response, have to take the good with the bad and allow the viewers of this site make a decision to read it or not.
  8. While I have never been a fan of trash talk, I will say that I hope Kingston does beat up on the Harriman's and Rockwood's when they can....because just like last year, when they play schools their size, they are going to struggle a little. Sometimes the horses are missing to pull the wagon.
  9. And played with some cool heads down the stretch. But what about that Cleveland finish? whew...
  10. MTSU caught Tennessee on the worst played game by them in three years...and didn't have the horses to do anything about it. I wasn't impressed with either of them, and if Tennessee makes mistakes like that against a good team, they get smoked. But the D did do an oustanding job...great team speed.

    Region 2-AA

With the way Sweetwater is playing, going to be a battle to get past the 'Cats this year. I would have to give Rockwood an edge against Oliver Springs this year. Last year, I thought the Tigers played them mighty hard and with all the losses OS had, Rockwood should have a slight edge. Plus, they have got to be feeling real good after taking care of Wartburg so easily. Anyway, it's going to be a heckuva game.
  12. Wasn't able to make it in to see the game, but judging from the thumping, they finally played a complete game...something this group of athletes deserved after some bad luck last year. I am telling you all, when you have speed...you are always dangerous. Good job coach Webb and Rockwood.
  13. I was watching the Ezell and CPA game on CSS tonight and I must say the current trend of bad officiating is continuing. Before you get your dandur up, I know there are great officiating, but I saw some of the worst calls I have ever witnessed during that game. One was a fumble early in the contest where CPA clearly recovered their own and the second was the first Ezell score. I don't know squat about either of these teams...but as a neutral observer, the officiating was pathetic. I have witnessed games live the past few seasons as well where "easy" calls were blown. It's not a tough job, but with all the money that TSSAA is raping from our schools in Tennessee, they could do better.
  14. I always hated sitting in the pressbox. That's why I lied and took my camera with me and got on the sideline.
  15. I had no idea about Jim, he was such a good person and I enjoyed his reports...that really saddens me. Anyway, those were the good 'ol days and I still don't know what made that member of the Alabama Athletic staff curse me...I was just singing Rocky Top and my singing isn't "that" bad. Goose joined me a couple of years into the show and along with a few others we had a very good time and I know I made a very good friend out of it. Thanks for your post, because it brought a smile to my face just now. [Edited by TankTalk on 9-4-02 4:47P]
  16. Congratulations to tigersFan (the hacky sack is in the mail), who picked the Wyoming score to be 45-7, very nice pick! This week, I will take Tennessee 49, MTSU 24 [Edited by TankTalk on 9-4-02 2:15P]
  17. Come on Goose man. Unleash some of the big bucks you are making and become a plus member. This chat room is going to get whacky and perhaps as useful as a Murphy Fair Book.
  18. I think this will be a great game...going to drive in and watch it personally. But if Rockwood continues making the mental mistakes, look for the 'Dogs to pick up a huge win Friday night. I like both of these coaches and teams, but football breaks down pretty simple. When two teams are so evenly matched, the one who squeezes the pigskin the tightest will get the V.

    Murphy PLEASE?

The book isn't out? How will newspapers write in-depth stories about football now? Goose...you are doomed! [Edited by TankTalk on 9-2-02 12:03A]
  20. BINGO! How would you expect to get a top-notch coach for your elite program with actions like this? When Lussier is eventually run out of town, who do you think you could get? And do you think you could get someone good enough to make everyone in Cat land happy?
  21. I would almost agree with you OS, except for one fact. The problems started as soon as the coach was given the job. Before the bad season last year, at least bad in the eyes of Oak Ridge fans. Grumbling started as soon as he was named coach, thus causing rifts in the program as a whole. I don't know this coach, never met him and have nothing to do with the situation. As an observer, this guy has been under extreme pressure from the very beginning. And I don't care how "elite" the program is, and I would argue with you about being on the most elite in the Southeast, you go through cycles. [Edited by TankTalk on 9-1-02 1:23P]
  22. To be honest, after looking at all the posts and hearing all the happenings in Oak Ridge, I would call it "Whining Mode." Winners don't whine when things get tough, they take what they have and try to make the best of it. You can say what you want to say about coaching...players not playing...it comes down to 11 guys on each side of the pigskin giving it their all...Oak Ridge lost Friday night...move on to next week. And look around, players aren't playing in many places because there are so many distractions. Not every player that decides not to play, is doing so because of the coach.
  23. Personally, I give the Vols a big 'ol A-. I hated losing the linebacker though, that will be a toughie.
  24. Some may call it frustration mode...I call it something else. Good luck KIDS at Oak Ridge. Keep your heads high and try to steer clear of the "mature" adults who are causing rifts in your program. I hope you all win out.
