  1. From Twitter... BOC voted to seed teams in the football playoffs that finish first and second place in their districts first, then seed remaining teams. More info as it becomes available
  2. This is straight from the TSSAA website: In Division I, the higher seeded team shall be the host school. If the two schools are the same seed, in odd-numbered years the top team in each bracket shall be the host team. In even-numbered years the bottom team in each bracket shall be the host team. It doesn't say anything about overall seeding.
  3. If the winner of this game wants a home game next week, they need to root for Germantown to beat Whitehaven. Higher seed hosts all games (except the championship of course). If two teams are the same seed, in even numbered years (2010) the team at the bottom of the bracket will be the home team. Whitehaven wins and they host the winner.
  4. Actually if Whitehaven wins, they will be hosting a semifinal game regardless of who wins between Smyrna & Blackman. The higher seed will host all games but if two teams are seeded the same, in even numbered years (2010) the team at the bottom of the bracket will host. Only way Smyrna or Blackman host is if Germantown wins Friday night.
  5. If you go by what has happened on paper, then Brighton should win the game. But they don't play the games on paper. It will be awfully hard for Brighton to get ready to play a wishbone team in 1 week. Hardly anyone runs that offense any more and when you don't see it, it makes it very hard to prepare for in just 1 week. I think if Germantown does what they do in this offense and they don't make any mistakes, then they win the game. The Red Devils can control the clock and keep the Brighton offense off the field but the key is that they have to get points on those drives. You can't chew up 6 minutes on the clock and not get any points because sooner or later Brighton will get theirs. Ought to be interesting.
  6. Arlington doesn't play good enough defense to hold Wooddale to 13 points. They may beat Wooddale but they won't hold them to 13. The Cardinals have a balanced offensive attack and Jovon Robinson is one of the best RB's in the area. Arlington has a problem stopping the run.
  7. Brighton is good but they are not very good. Any time they match up with an athletic team, they have problems. Last year a 5-5 Kirby team beat them in the playoffs with only half of their team something like 55-33. (One of the buses broke down and didn't get there until the 2nd quarter)
  8. Not sure about the scores but I will post my choices. 5A Ridgeway Mitchell Craigmont Jax NS 6A Whiehaven Wooddale Dickson Co (flip a coin-go with the home team) Germantown D2 Briarcrest St Benedict
  9. And add in Coffee County who is at 2-7 overall but is 2-1 in their district. Beat Cookeville and they make the playoffs at 3-7. Lose and they could still get in at 2-8 because they have beaten the team that is currently in 3rd.
  10. I think that both Whitehaven and Brighton will pass Dickson Co this week and get to 9 wins and overall wins is the first tiebreaker. I think the highest that Arlington can go is a 4 unless Dickson Co gets shipped to Quad 3. I think it will be if Whitehaven, Brighton, WS, Arlington, Collierville and Germantown all win: (1) Whitehaven vs (8) WS (4) Arlington vs (5) Collierville (2) Brighton vs (7) Wooddale (3) Dickson Co vs (6) Germantown If Melrose beats Whitehaven, Brighton beats Dyer Co, Mitchell beats WS, Wooddale beats Collierville,Germantown beats Overton, Millington beats Arlington and Bolton beats Cordova I think you have: (1) Brighton vs (8) Millington (4) Arlington vs (5) Germantown (2) Dickson Co vs (7) Collierville (3) Whitehaven vs (6) Wooddale Lot of ifs there. Just rambling....
  11. If Millington wins and Bolton wins, the Trojans are in as the automatic qualifier. If Millington wins and Cordova wins, there is a 3 way tie with Arlington, Cordova and Millington and Arlington gets in by virtue of having the most wins (first tiebreaker). If Millington wins, that gives them 5 wins and that puts them in the conversation as far as the wild card goes. The first tiebreaker is overall wins, followed by the number of teams on your schedule that have won 50% or more of their games and that is followed by your number of victories against those teams. Most of the tiebreakers are decided by this 2nd or 3rd tiebreaker. If you look at the current playoff standings, the last 3 teams (Lincoln Co, White Station, Siegel) projected in as of right now all have 4 wins. If White Station wins, they will be the automatic qualifier from their district. If not, they probably don't make it in. Siegel plays a 2-7 Laverne team so they will probably get in. Lincoln Co plays a 6-3 Shelbyville team. Anything could happen in that game. There are a number of 5 win teams as well. Some of those teams (Germantown, Oak Ridge, Jefferson Co) should win this week as they are playing lesser opponents and will get to 6 wins. Some of those teams (Soddy Daisy, Franklin Co) are playing tougher opponents and could still have only 5 wins after tonight's games. The one wild card in all of this is Coffee County. Thanks to Tom Kreager from the Murfreesboro DNJ for seeing this. They have an overall record of 2-7 on the year but they are 2-1 in their district which is good enough for 2nd right now. If they win, they are in as the automatic qualifier. However, they do play the top team in the district in Cookeville so a win is unlikely there. Coffee Co also hold the tiebreaker with the team currently in 3rd place (Warren Co). What all 6A teams currently in the running for one of the last wild cards should hope for is that Coffee Co gets beat and that another team in that same district (White Co) wins their game. White Co is a 5A team and would finish 2nd in that district in a tiebreaker therefore freeing up a potential playoff spot. Millington fans need to hope the following happens(other than the obvious of beating Arlington and Bolton beating Cordova): Mitchell beats White Station, Cookeville beats Coffee Co and White Co wins their game (freeing up one spot), Cleveland beats Soddy Daisy, Columbia beats Franklin Co, Shelbyville beats Lincoln Co, Southwind beats Houston and Memphis East beats Memphis Central. I would think that a number of these games could fall just how the Trojans want. All of them? I wouldn't bet the house on it. However, if Millington doesn't beat Arlington, it doesn't matter.
  12. Facemask call trumps everything and nullifies the INT. ?
  13. Congrats to Craigmont on winning District 14-AAA. They have had a heck of a year and need to keep it going in the playoffs. Cut down on all the mental mistakes and keep your focus and you can make some noise in the postseason.
  14. After seeing a little film on them, they run the spread like so many teams do nowadays. But most of their production comes via the ground. This will be a very difficult game if Millington were healthy but they are banged up coming into this one. The Trojans would like to win this one but in the grand scheme of things, it means nothing. If they beat Craigmont and Arlington in the next 2 weeks, they will win the district and be an automatic qualifier for the playoffs.
  15. They are actually more of a running team. Average almost 280 on the ground and 123 through the air. Two main ballcarriers-RB #5(5'9 205)-132 carries 1231 yds 9.33/carry 153.9/gm with 19 TD and the QB #1(6'3 235)- 76 carries 594 yds 7.82/carry 84.9/gm with 8 TD. The most any other back has carried is 16 carries. They have a NG that is 6' 343.
  16. Finals tonight 21-20 White Station 14-6 CBHS 38-0 Whitehaven
  17. I don't think Brighton deserves to be in. You don't get beat 51-21 at your place and still deserve to stay in. I think that if Millington wins this week they will be in. But I don't think they deserve to be in now. The three teams that they have beaten aren't very good.
  18. The only thing I know for sure is that your stud LB who had committed to Southern Miss is out for the yr with a torn ACL.
  19. Very interesting but something isn't right here. I talked to "88" last week at a Millington football practice. He told me that he was running cross country for Millington and that he wished that he could still be out there playing football. If he is waiting to be "cleared" to be eligible at Craigmont, why would he be running cross country at Millington? If he is at Millington, why would he care about anything at Craigmont? If he is at Craigmont, why would he care about anything at Millington? And I did look at the roster and M.H. is listed as #27.
  20. There is no one else that will split the gate with you over a 2 year period. Every other year you make between 25-30K by playing Munford when it is all said and done. You would have to find 2 maybe 3 games to make that amount on by not playing them. That money goes a long way especially in this economy. Millington doesn't have a "sugar daddy" with deep pockets that can give them whatever they want when they want it. Now if you want to schedule somebody else (big name that travels well) to play you at home when you are playing Munford on the road so be it.
  21. Trojans roll 40-14. Have 376 yds rushing and force 5 turnovers. Roland Genesy 13-143 yds, Travron Taylor 6-119 Bartlett's QB, Chuck Seagle, looked good for a sophomore. Bartlett should throw the ball more cause they definitely couldn't run tonight. 22 carries-19 yds.
  22. 41-13 Brighton 8 min left in game

  24. CBHS wins 10-0 over the Red Devils. Brighton leads 41-13 with 9:16 left in the game
