  1. have fun over there in the east running the score up on all these cupcake teams.. the end is near
  2. since the discussion has shifted towards the direction of chris donald, let me say this. anyone who saw his second carry of the milan-huntingdon game knows what kind of speed he has. however, there are a few hurdles he must get over. he's big. alot bigger than most of the kids out there, and him being a sophomore doesn't make things any better. you can tell it's hard for him to protect the ball. in the start of the games he does fine, but as the night progresses you can see that it's hard for him not to just sling the ball around when he gets dragged down. small backs are taught to tuck the ball to their ribcage, but big boys have to run with the ball a little bit higher than where smaller backs do.. it's hard to describe on here why but some of you can get the logic behind that maybe. defenders can just punch the ball free easier with taller kids. another thing is he doesnt lower his pads quite the way he should just yet. he's a straight up runner, almost like huntingdon's detrell smith back in 99. all in all when you watch him play, and realize that he's mostly just whipping everyone with raw ability and then you think about what he'll do to people when he learns how to use it.. we wont be just calling him a monster.. we'll just call him THE MAN. btw does anyone know his 40 yard dash time? i know it's got to pretty good, he shoots through the holes like a bullet.
  3. Chargerman I used to respect your insight, but the "not in a million years" is a very bold statement. you have to remember that this is high school football and many milan fans were saying the same things last year. so before you go off thinking DearOldDad is making a pie in the sky statement, take a look at your own posts.. it would sure be a shame if your chargers were to get smoked somewhere down the line, and all you have to look back is all the empty promises you made. and to all you martin folks talking about this "all the way" stuff ALREADY.. you better take it one game at a time or you might be sitting in a parking lot crying in a few weeks. i'll only say this.. if there is a rematch between huntingdon and westview don't bet the whole farm on martin westview. alot of football will have been played if and when this game comes around and neither team is be the same as the first time.
  4. If and i mean if Huntingdon and Westview are to meet again I do not think the same things will happen. I just seriously don't think you'll be able to pull out the same tricks two times in a row on the Huntingdon coaching staff. Let me make my observations. I may eat my words because this projected game is 5 weeks away and alot can happen between now and then, but just for laughs lets see how close I am: Huntingdon's defense (especially in regards to the weakside which you guys oh-so-loved to rip apart) isn't even close to the same plane it was on earlier in the year. Lots of replacements have been made, and I think overall the defense is starting to actually play with some more agression (take the shattering hit made in the last seconds of the Riverside game for example). Someone said it best earlier when they said Huntingdon really needed leaders to step up and make the plays that stand out, and I agreed especially when it comes to the defense. They have started to do that in the past few weeks following the Milan disaster. In my opinion, when the coaches finally find two DEs (and i think they have) and those two delegates settle into their positions, that will really anchor down the defensive front. That goes for everyone, I think alot of those guys are just tired of having to relearn assignments. You cant really say much about the offensive side of the ball. Afterall all they only tallied 300+ yards the first meeting. All in all, I still look back at that game and remember that we did turn the ball over in the redzone several times and in my true opinion the we're the ones who beat ourselves. Some call it bad play calling, some call it lack of motivation. What do I think? I think we have 5 weeks to find something to be consistant with and something to stack alot of confidence on, because let's face it.. it's week 10. the second chances are no more. after this mckenzie game the "try something new and see how it works" method is finished. I just wrote all this and realized what thread I was posting it in. I got a little carried away, sorry, I know this is a Westview playoff projection thread but this is a possible situation for you guys' playoff run.. so maybe it's not too much out of line.
  5. tamirrt: i usually respect the posts you make on here.. but the one you just made on this thread is false. boyd is a great back, but he doesnt have the best yard average in west tennessee. phillip weathers has carried the ball 148 times for 1552 yards with a 10.4 yard average. please do your homework so you can back your posts better.
  6. ah yes how easy it is to forget the politics involved in the mr. football awarding.. many people last year wondered why someone like terrance bell wasnt even nominated.. i mean all he did was score 6 touchdowns and rush for 321 yards in a championship game
  7. by the time it's announced i think we'll all be wishing someone else got the vote.. and i'll give you a hint.. his first name starts with a C and his last name starts with a D and he plays for huntingdon and was very instrumental in last year's playoff run.. we like to call him.. Mr. November
  8. bertier, the more you post the less credible you become. it was a game, 2 years ago, and it's over. i figured you and jacketpride24 would have learned to shut your mouths after the fiasco last season. oops, is that too big of a word? asinine, a big word? i assume you go to college judging from your posts about the westview-huntingdon game being a "few minute's walk away." i dont doubt that everyone knows that huntingdon got embarrassed 2 years ago in the first round, and i doubt many people are arguing with you about it, but i guess every dog has it's day. if that's the greatest memory of your high school years, god i bet it sucked to go to fairview high school. huntingdon, TN is a football town. they don't live off just things that have happened in the past, but of the things that have yet to happen. you can walk into the wal-mart in mid-May and hear folks talking about the upcoming season. and i think you are jealous of that. so don't go around "gauranteeing" anything you have no clue about. until you live in a town that has a weekend festival dedicated to the football tradition in it, don't talk about it. sure, we like to talk about the past from time to time, but we don't turn past events into an (excuse me for using another big word) obsession.
  9. yeah.. he's a man playing with boys. last night was the hardest i've seen him run yet. i wonder what his 40 time is. just think, huntingdon fans get to watch him 2 more years. i also liked when boo flattened # 2. i told you guys he was a tough little man. i dont understand why huntingdon resorted to air it out with plenty of play left in the game.
  10. great game, maybe now westtn2004state will stop trying to defend last year's semifinal matchup. he can bask in the glory of this game, at least for 7 weeks. wouldn't it be a great thing if we had yet another huntingdon-milan semifinal game. both teams have to get their acts together though. they need to find some kind of consistancy. but lets all hope that westtn2004state learned from being a sore snot about last year's game and that you wont be finger pointing if the better team (to you it would be, milan) doesn't win that one. oh well we can only pray that this wont happen. i don't think i can handle another year of watching people reiterate that the game is over, and we can't change that. i have nothing against you. we are both football fans, but you should learn to take things in stride. i walked out of johnny hale stadium with a smile on my face thinking "we'll get em next time." there's always 1 winner and 1 loser in every game. there was a gentlemen sitting behind me last night who was saying some very insulting things about the team he was there to support (huntingdon) and i was very annoyed because there was 9 minutes left to play. alot of what he said has made me come to the conclusion that this team has more pressure on it than any huntingdon team has ever had. alot of people will find it hard to believe that we have to get back to the basics on alot of things, and having games like we had against chester county doesn't help that, but maybe games like this will. like i said, no disrespect to you that you haven't already earned from degrading the team that knocked you off last year when it did matter. prior to your beliefs they were a really good team because they showed what you guys showed last night, determination and will. and i think you see that based on how you labeled this thread you started with the "I BELIEVE" slogan. hey huntingdon fans you think we can trademark that slogan!
  11. wow. looks like i got my money's worth twice today. watching friday night lights and the milan-huntingdon game. hats off to milan, they did what they had to do to get it done. huntingdon is beginning to look like a two-faced team. one game they look superb and the next they only show up for the first half. i myself as a huntingdon fan will take this game in stride and i hope everyone else does as well. huntingdon HAS the potential to do great things in the postseason they just have to make the right adjustments. we're still in the lead in 6-2A and things just got plenty more interesting in western tennessee 2A football. i wont lie though it does hurt to lose such a rivalry game.
  12. my vote goes to boo. put markei guy and phillip "boo" weathers side by side or head to head again and i think the rest of you will see where i'm coming from. boo is just a dangerous little man. troy fleming is the state's all-time rushing leader.. and i dont think i have to tell you where he's playing today.
  13. hahahha you've got to be kidding me. after the program over there has been revived as much and all the good things going on over there, i hope the rest of the camden fans dont share your heed.
  14. that was a controversial 6 inches rcombs.. to me it looked like the QB was laying across the goalline when they got the pile of players off of him. but it doesn't matter anymore, it was a great game. things will be very interesting come week 13 and 14 assuming our teams are still in the race to the boro.
  15. bertier you don't even know what you're talking about.
  16. back the subject of the thread.. who else thinks it's amazing that boo has broken the 1,000 yard barrier with the number of carries he has had. in my opinion he'll be a 2A Mr. Football finalist primarily because he plays with alot of heart every down. pound for pound he's the best back in 2A. not many guys his size have the guts to go out and do what he does, fighting for yards, stiff-arming guys twice his size, staying inbounds and taking hits just to get those extra yards, and then going out and being a pass defender. i look at all these other backs over in middle and east tennessee and i'm not too impressed with them having 1,200 yards when they get to carry the ball 40 times a game. better yet i think it's amazing to have a team break 2,200 yards rushing in 6 games. (that's almost 400 yards a game) and not to say they dont pass the ball much, the quarterback is getting close to having 1,000 yards passing and has a great completion percentage. not many people can argue the fact that huntingdon has one of the most explosive offenses in the league. i think theres a few changes being made on the defensive side of the ball. as long as we have a good 3 games to finish out the season strong and get things firing on all cylinders, i feel good about huntingdon's chances this year in the postseason.
  17. he coached at westview.. but he went to school in milan
  18. dont stretch your topic of discussion into multiple threads westtn2004state. there's already too many seperate threads for the huntingdon-milan topic.. more than the game is even worth
  19. his life revolves around agitating people on here. pay no attention to the peanut gallery
  20. it's a great feeling to be a fan of huntingdon and even have doubts if boo will be the offensive player of the game for huntingdon. there's so many dangerous weapons and half of them have yet to be used yet. someone hounded on huntingdon about their lack of depth last week in the martin-westview game. i dont think depth is a problem at all, i just think that the starters weren't used to playing a full game. that was one of the bad things about having blowouts in the beginning of the season. many if not all of the starters didnt get to play more than half a game. these next few weeks will be full games for them for sure. i think that the huntingdon coaches know exactly what to do. there are plenty of kids on huntingdon's team capable of having 100 yard games and plenty of players capable of making 20 tackles a game. great coaching staffs know how to adjust when things aren't going right, just look at the lexington game after halftime. westview scouted the defense well and knew exactly what to do. now, i don't have doubts that the coaches are fixing the problems and the past has shown that they know how to fix these things. i'm really happy for camden's revival of the program over there, but i dont think they have enough athletes or the mindset to knock off huntingdon. afterall, they see themselves as the underdogs in this game automatically, when truth is.. huntingdon is the underdog. it'll be a good game either way.. the bad thing about high school football is that it's so unpredictable and i could come back and look at this post on saturday and wish i could take it all back if huntingdon loses. but i'm gonna go with my underdogs in this one. 34-14 (huntingdon missing one PAT... good two point conversion.. making 2 PATs.. and missing the final PAT) P.S. carruth will hit both of his PATs
  21. you wanna talk about experience? boo weathers was a huge playmaker in a state championship game.. i'd take that big-game experience over boyd's.. boyd is a great back but i wouldn't say he's more experienced.
  22. hey man let it go.. i have a bone to pick with all you huntingdon fans: i'm really disappointed in huntingdon's fans. in the last quarter of the martin westview game i noticed that no more than 20 fans in the stands were standing up. i guess everyone just kinda assumed that the mustangs would pull it out. i'm not saying for sure it would have made a difference, but it doesnt hurt to stand up and make some noise for the team you support. i could see how people can think that we're a bunch of cocky fans after bringing about twice the amount of fans martin had and just sitting around like a bunch of people supporting USJ. hopefully it wont be like this this week at Camden. the camden fans are hyped up about this and we should be as well. i hated that huntingdon was such a unanimous favorite in the first place as far as all these meaningless polls go. now maybe the fans wont be so confident in the unknown. P.S. do they still have that crazy PA announcer over at camden. it sounded like that was him doing the radio broadcast when i tuned in a few weeks ago.
  23. i think the rhetoric of the whole question just flew over your head.
