You are right Govman, as long as McMahan is on the floor, Heritage has a chance. Not only is she a great player, she makes every other player on her team better. Powell is a good team, but they cannot stop someone with Cait's quickness. Sevier Co. has no one even in the same class as Cait, as is shown by their 9 first half points. Jefferson Co. has won two of the three previous match-ups, including last weeks district championship. Greenville is very talented and Lyons causes problems. Ashley Kyle is on fire and Huff is playing very well the latter part of the year. Look for a great game with Jeff. Co. winning based on an early spurt. If it comes down to coaching, edge to Greenville.

I agree that we need to hire a good young coach, but I do not think the powers at be will hire a coach with no head coaching experience. I could be wrong on that, but it seems that was the criteria previously when they by-passed several worthy and loyal canidates two years ago.

You ask for suggestions on the 400. My suggestion is to run a lot of intervals ranging from 200m ( under 25 sec) to 800m (under 2:20). Also, run the 200m and the 800m (or relays) early in the year to work on strength and speed.

To the guy who has Cleveland And BC in the region finals, how to you figure. Cleveland will win the district title and BC will be third. That will put them in the same side of the region bracket, thus making a BC-Cleveland final impossible. As for guesswho, when a coach brings a troubled team to the brink of the district title, he has done a wonderful job. As to your comment about the starting five getting last years team to the state, you are correct. A great coach gets a team nowhere by himself, he needs quality players. Yet a good coach gets a good team to the state. Your are a moron who doesn't know what you are talking about.

Sevier Co. and the district they are in have very tough schedules. However, SC should be able to compete with theSeymours and Jeff. Co.s of the world. Jeff. will be very talented, but I am sure the coach will lead them to a few defeats that should not happen. If the boys at SC will keep playing hard and listening to Coach Wilhite, they will win more games than expected.

If they have been at Maryville for three days, doesn't that effect their eligibility at WB?

What a great year in the Knoxville area for girls b-ball talent. The girl from Powell, Johnson from Seymour, McMahan at Heritage, Uner at SC, and Buley at South Doyle. I have not seen all of them play, but Buley is easily the most gifted athlete of the bunch, but McMahan probably is more polished. She also makes those around her better, the mark of a truely great player.

Rocky played at Jefferson County and is Spencer's brother. He is a good football coach who has coached at UT and with the Green Bay Packers for a brief while. He coached at SD for 3 years and then went to Carter last year because he hated the former coach at SD (as did a lot of folks).

I have not heard, but I would be willing to bet the oft-traveled resume is on the AD's desk.

As far as respect, I dare say few people are more disliked and culled than Coach Potts at Jeff. Co. He has consistantly run off many players and not gotten the best out of the ones that stayed. That being said, he has done a good job this year turning around a season that at one time looked lost. the Lady Pats are playing well right now and Greenville better figure out their problems before Thursday night.

Would this not leave McMinn looking for a football and basketball coach? Is there a problem within the school or Community that would keep potential canidates away?

Although I am not a fan of this team by any means and have never seen this player actually do it, I have read about Zach Gulmire from Oak Ridge winning two or three games this year alone on last second shots.

I am not ready to take on such great challenges. As for McMinn, it is a school with a winning tradition and great community support. I really wish McMinn well in their search, but my name will not be in the hat. I prefer to coach from the stands.
