  1. I am out of town on business, so I will get updates throughout the night.
  2. Any reason as to why he would step down as head coach and remain an assistant at the same school? Is he wanting to spend more time with family? illness? I hope he remains in coaching because he is a very good coach.
  3. Parker Clement not only is having an outstanding season for Jeff.Co. in basketball, he also passed for over 1300 yards as the starting QB. Parker will play baseball in the spring, too. All this while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA in advanced classes. Talk about your all-around game!!! So much for b-ball coaches saying you cannot play anything but basketball!
  4. Jefferson County is hot, but Greenville is very talented. if the game is close at the end, advantage Greenville. However, JC gets of to a fast start and holds on by 10.
  5. Govman, If Meadows is hired, when will they make the announcement? If he is not, who's next?
  6. I do have an interest in who gets the WB job for several different reasons, Tripeman. As for my boy, I hope he stays put. The golfball reminds me of my best friend: round, dimply, and unpredictable!!!!
  7. What is the line-up for the faculty? You better stick to Coach Chait like glue, he has a killer jump shot from 19'9" and in.
  8. Greenville is definetly a team to be reckoned with. The Jeff. Co. girls, since my thread about there problems, have shut me up and played really well. I just hope it is decided before late in the game. Potts has a way of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, if you know what I mean!!
  9. The only thing you smell is the backside of two dog beatings your girls have taken. This is the battle between the two best girls team in the K-townn area. Stay out of the way Bearettes and you may not get hurt. Anyway, OR at home by 10+.
  10. I think the director of schools in Blount Co. is an avid coachT poster who has a sick sense of humor. He is just sitting back and laughing at the rest of us coachT junkies as we scramble to express our "expert" opinions.
  11. I saw South-Doyle play a game and I thought they had talent. I may have been mistaken, but the young QB and running back (Lightfoot) really showed some talent.

Is he going somewhere else or is he just retiring from coaching? If he is getting out, coaching has lost a good one. His teams are constantly in the running for the title.
  13. The teams that fit the horrible moniker that I am used to seeing are Cocke Co. and Campbell Co. I believe these two teams just do not have two important qualities: disclipine(Cocke Co.) and talent (Campbell Co.) to compete with the teams they play. Karns is definitely one of the teams to watch. Their new coach and the win over DB seems to have excited the community. A program I feel is on the decline is Bearden. I watched them play a couple of times and really thought they looked bad and undisclipined.
  14. Coach Price is the best wrestling coach I have ever seen at Jeff.Co. He was able to get a lot of kids to participate that other coaches could not (i.e. Waylon Lowe) and he was able to control them. i dare say Scooter would be a different wrestler (or even wrestling this year) if he were still in charge.
  15. Celebrating is fine, but jumping on an emblem or championship banner is not appropriate. I applaud Heritage's effort and their coach for teaching class.
  16. Not that I am around the SD program, but there seems to be a lot of talk about the coach of the boys team and of a new football coach. I am wondering if these events have been a distraction to the girls team. Also, who are some of the impact players to watch for at playoff time?
  17. I think the coach from Heritage deserves some credit for stopping his team from belittling their win with an uncalled for celebration. From what I hear, he broke up a little rally over a championship mark on the floor and made his team apologize to Sevier Co. Heritage's team learned how to win on this night.
  18. If you can play, the college recruiters will find you. I hear parents complain all the time that Coach so-and-so does not do enough to get my kid a scholarship. If the athlete is good enough to be recruited, I do not know of a coach who would not send film to the schools that request it. Small school, large school does not matter. However, schools that are successful and win consistently or have consistently sent players to college (like Riverdale, D-B, Oak Ridge, etc:) do often get attention before other schools. It is time for high school athletes to realize that they have a better chance of getting scholarship $$ through academics than through athletics.
  19. Andy Rines is a young, nthusiastic coach who is in the process of building a quality program at Heritage. Plus, he is a Jeff. Co. and C-N guy.
  20. Thanks for the update. I heard he was training for marathons, but it sounds like he is still doing "a little" coaching as well. Best of luck to Coach Price and the Toppers.
  21. I have read the articles in the paper and talked to coaches and ADs in the Knoxville and Morristown areas and none of them has an understanding of the thing either. I really get confused when they start talking about multiplying the city schools and privated schools by different numbers. Just go back to the old three classes with the district concept and be done with it. This will not ever happen due to the TSSAA's greed, but it makes the most sense for the schools.
  22. Classic one man (or woman) show against a solid if unspectacular team. The team usually wins, but Cait McMahan is worth the price of admission, and I don't mean like Britney Jackson either. This girl can PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. people must remember that at the time Coach Meadows went from Alcoa to UT he had just lost his stepson to cancer. He may have needed to be at home more. I do not think a head high school coach spends as much time as college GAs do because the GAs are the ones at the office late at night breaking down game films and doing the tendancy charts for the assistants. All this in addition to recruiting grunt work makes for long days.
  24. I have not been keeping up with wrestling this year and was wondering how Jeff Price was doing at Science Hill. Can anyone give me a clue?
