  1. I think all but CA/Loretto will be 10 plus wins for 12A. Don't know if Loretto can generate enough offense to beat CA. Loretto has been struggling to score in the half court and must get points off their defense which is very good. Frank Hughes has the easiest road to the finals as they will face the CA/Loretto winner. Perry has to get by Summertown which won both regular season games. I see Perry beating Frank Hughes in the regional final.
  2. There is no rule that says if one team fouls, the other team has to do likewise. This is from a long time but now retired basketball official.
  3. I haven't seen Van Buren play. I have seen Loretto a few times too many!! They have a good offensive game both inside and outside. Can beat you either way. When you are on offense, you need to make some shots because you won't get many second chance points. The key is No 10. He won't kill you with points but he is the glue that makes everything stick. He is the closest thing they have to must have on the court. They are 2 deep everywhere else. They are playing their best ball now and will be a tough out.
  4. GREAT!!! GOOD LUCK FROM PERRY COUNTY.
  5. Tough draw for CA. I don't think CA will play a slow tempo so it might be a twenty point win for Mitchell or it could be the upset of the tournament. I really don't like CA's chances in this matchup.
  6. They might not win but the favorites going in would have to be: A-Mitchell AA- CPA AAA-Hamilton I don't know when the last time the going in favorites all won....so who gets upset?
  7. Will he be able to play at the 'boro?
  8. Well, we have the District semi-finals all over again with the home and visitors jerseys reversed. I am hoping for a reversal of the results as well. All 4 teams are playing well so let's throw up the ball and get on with it. Good luck PC Lady Vikings. I want at least 3 more games with one at home.
  9. Congrats to Summertown. We just didn't have an answer for Scott. I hope what I saw at the end of the game was just a cramp. Summertown must have him to have a decent chance in the Region. I doubt if we can get by the first round of regions at CA but stranger things have happened. PC has a really good night and CA struggles a little bit and waala, PC wins. Possible but not probable. I have been really proud of the way these young men have played. You can't give more than 100 percent and that is what they gave. The parents are to blame!! Needed better genetics!!
  10. Back on the District 12A thread, coachcarterfan asked when was the last time Wayne County and Collinwood failed to make the 6A Regionals? Don't know the answer, but I asked Coach Byrd if he knew the answer. He said Wayne County made the Region every year he was a coach (don't remember if he said 22 or 27 years) and he said they were at Regions at least the 5 years before he started coaching them. He said if you also include Collingwood, he thought it may have never happened since they started this tournament format. I think I have the best source possible on this question but if someone else has a better way to verify, please feel free to pursue it. It is always possible a coach has a season he would like to forget and proceeds to do so!!
  11. If anyone hears anything definite about postponement of the games, please post it. I'll do the same.
  12. Well, D12 is upside down with the bottom 2 seeds battling for the championship and the top 2 seeds battling for 3rd and 4th. Good win for Summertown Vandychris. I was right that PC wouldn't win by 18. We couldn't win by 1. In D11, Mt Pleasant upset Santa Fe. It's tournament time folks and strange things happen on any given night!!
  13. vandychris, If 12a wins the first round of regions and Summertown is the 4th seed, they would have to upset the 12a runner-up to get a sub-state berth. Possible but not an easy road with either Perry or Loretta likely in that spot.
  14. redtang, I very rarely miss (after I look at the score board)!! lol
  15. Vandychris, don't know the answer to your question, but Richland is the no 1 seed in D11A, not the No 2.
  16. Vandychris, I like your picks except I don't see PC beating Summertown by 18. In a way, I kinda hope 33bigorange is correct on the Loretta upset of PC. I think the 12A 4th seed has a good chance of winning the first game against the 11A 1st seed. If that happens PC would play them in the Regional semis assuming we beat the 11A 3rd seed at home. That would give us the better chance of getting to Regional Finals. Sometimes a loss is not a bad thing when you factor in tournament brackets. The Richland/Collinwood girls game score has not been posted. Anyone know what the score was?
  17. I think the blind draw is the best for a number of reason: 1. There will be a lot of "run-up-the-score" during the regular season to impress the panel that seeds. 2. There wil be a ton of campaigning by coaches and administrators to get a high seed. 3. There will be a bunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnch of people that "know" they got it wrong and our team is at least a 3 instead of a 7. The 2 and 3 seed will ###### that they are the no 1. 4. Who is going to do the seeding?? Sports writers?? Coaches?? Administrators?? TSSAA staff?? You hit it on the head when you said eliminate the silver ball. That ends all the discussion because you have to beat the best eventually to get the gold whether it is the first or championship round
  18. I think it will be a low scoring game. Coach for JC will play a slow half court game, keep it close and hope to hit some shots in the end to win which they could do. I don't think they will make the shots they need to make and UC wins the gold. UC 39 JC 35.
  19. I have only been following 1A for about 10+ years and both 7A and 12A have placed a number of teams in the final 8 and both have won it all. 12A was unusally deep this year with good teams top to bottom. Loretto tied for 2 regular season with a 6-4 record. Not really a surprise that they or any of the others finished 4th. I think there is going to be some upset folks that someone thinks Vandy is the biggest homer!! We have some pretty strong challengers for that spot. A little bit back to this thread, I watched the first round and thought UC was the best team. I am picking them to win it all. Been wrong before but have a pretty good track record. Thanks Loretto for reprenting 12A well. Great run.
  20. HC has a lot of really good players including a post player. They are good enough to get there but their chances to get into the championship game tokk a big hit when that player went down. Look at that team with both of those post players on the floor. The match up problems just got a lot more difficult. Perry County played them when they were at full strength and they were able to dominate a pretty fair team. They MUST stay out of foul trouble to have a chance without the added depth. Look at their loss to Community for an example.
  21. As I stated in another thread, D12 has never been this even since I have been following it. Loretto finishes 4th in the district tournament and is now playing for home court in the Sectional game. Summertown wins the regular season and is an early out after finishing third in the district tournament. Region 5 has 2 very good teams in the final. I would think Houston County is the favorite and I wouldn't want to go to Erin and play them. Good luck to both Collinwood and Loretto.
  22. CA looked really good against PC. The score could have been anything the CA coach wanted it to be. I see CA and Collinwood in the finals with CA winning it. I really like Collinwood. They could easily lose in the region finals and still get to the "Boro.
  23. I've been following D12 for 10+ years and have never seen it this balanced. Summertown has to be the favorite but wouldn't be surprised if they ended up at 3 or 4 seed. Frank Hughes could beat Collinwood and get a trip to regional for the first time in a long while. I will be there cheering for PC. I haven't seen many predictions on the district outcome and it is pretty clear why. Any prediction might look pretty silly when the tournament is over. Go Lady Vikings
  24. IMO, the best team meets the best coach. Wish I could be there but have a previous commitment. It has been my observation watching LC over the last three years at state and a home/away regular season schedule that Coach B has that team improvng all through the season. That is what a great coach does!! I like our coach at Perry Co but IMO she is the best in Class A. Don't know anything about the other classes but I know she is very, very good. Good Luck to both teams. You have earned it so please enjoy being there win or lose. Every other Class A school would like to be there. I am going to pick the better team in Humboltd. I also pick them to repeat next year if they keep their heads on straight and reallize it only takes one uh-Oh.
