  1. I also was used to a one and done tournament before I came to TN. The logic that was given to me by the school goes like this. With this system, if the best 2 teams are in the same region and only lose to each other, they will meet in the championship game. If you delayed the boy's you could have a situation such as Lake County where your girls are playing at the "boro and your boys are playing the lead-in tournament. Hope this helps.
  2. Blind draw is fair. I don't believe any seeding formula or organization would make it any better. A few years ago, Perry Co and Temple were AP 1 and 2 and met in the first round. Temple beat us and went on to win it all. So what did we lose?? the silver ball possibly assuming we would have won the other bracket on an AP seeding. I believe 4 of the top 5 teams ended up in the same bracket. So be it. Let's let the players decide the outcome. Go, fight and win PC Vikings.
  3. Thanks for the info. We played inside against Mt Pleasant and they play tall. We had some shots blocked but we still scored inside. It was less than we normally would have but I just don't see us trying to win it shooting only outside. If they can trully shut us down inside, we will be offensively challenged to win it solely from the outside. We might stay in the game but.............
  4. I am sure Fountain will cause problems but PC just has too many problems for Wartburg to solve. PC by 15+. For some reason I thought Fountain was an outside player that plays mostly facing the basket. Haven't seen them play so don't know for sure. Does he play mostly outside and is he really 6'7"? Anyone out there that has actually seen him play?
  5. I guess (appropriate word): LC PC McEwen FC If I have guessed correctly, I'll be chasing Vandychris.
  6. I'll be there Thursday for sure and problably Fri and Sat.
  7. So far, Summertown seems to be "destiny's darling". They also have a very good team. They have a good chance of winning their first gold ball. But NO ONE is a lock from here on out. One weak quarter of play can cost you when in a one-and-done tournament against a good team. Get overzealous if you are prepared for the postmortem on your team.
  8. Collinwood is clearly the Team to beat. I don't see them losing anymore than one game regular season if that. Only injury to 2 or more starters will prevent this from happening. Dog fight for the next three places between Stown, Loretta and WC. I think it will be Stown, WC and Loretta just on strength of coaching. PC is 5th losing all 5 starters with Edney and Bates the only returning players getting any meaningful minutes this year. Sorry GURU but I calls 'em like I sees 'em. I will still attend home and away to root for them. I am not a fair weather fan. Frank Hughes last. But look for closer scores than normal from them with a possible upset or 2 at their gym. They will be decent next year if no one drops out of the program.

    bats

South Carolina won the last 2 College World Series using Rawlings bats. The 5150 is a stiff shank bat but they also have a flex shaft. You can go to the Rawlings web site for more info. The Worth SLP237 bat doesn't get a lot of press but talking to players that have one, they like it. Bottom line is have the player swing it before you plunk out the bucks.
  10. I really don't see a "Team-to-beat" this year. It is a wide open tournament. FC is well known in baseball but they have been mowing people down playing with the big ball. McEwen is certainly for real. The media darlings are PC, LC and BTW but who knows where they are going to be placed? Odds are 2 of those 3 could be a first round matchup. LC and PC have the most experience at the big dance in the "boro. East TN often surprizes because they don't get a lot of media coverage. I am going with 2 of the the "big 3" of PC, LC and BTW in the finals hoping PC is one of them and they bring home another gold ball. I'll take FC as the sleeper to get into the finals but don't really feel they can win it all. Having put this in print, I can expect Wartburg and McEwen to whip up on me when they are the last 2 standing!!
  11. Yes,the same guy back at his alma mater. Second year as the boy's coach.
  12. Don't get too cocky up there GURU. I picked Humboldt to pull off an upset or I would be at the top. Of couse I also am a 12A. The sheriff sent me to jail on that one but I'm only 2 behind, don't miss one!!!
  13. PC wins 72-52 but it was less than 10 at one point in the 4th. Everytime it looked like we were going to put them away, they buried the 3's and got back in it. Dill had 20, Tucker 18, Rhodes and Gilboy 10+. Hill only starter under 10.....he had 9 with two 3's that rattled the rim and popped out. Now every starter has at least one game as high score guy. You just neverknow how the matchups are going to turn out but you better be able to guard them all.
  14. I think this "weak link" discussion has been interesting. By definition, every team has the "weak link". It just so happens that the PC "weak link" (whomever your definition comes up with) is a starter on any team PC has played this year. I'm guessing that naming Dill the "weak link" means the lowest scoring starter on the team??? Again, by definition, there is a lowest scoring starter and I believe that is probably Dill. Anyone that doesn't want him on their team doesn't know how to pick a winning team. Winners have that defensive guy that sacrifices his offense to give it his all on the defensive end. Check all the successful high school, college and pro teams and you find that player starting. I'm glad we have him and what he does to help us win. If you want to place an "offensive value" on his defense, I estimate he is worth 10 points so add that to whatever he scores to find his "value".
  15. Any team getting this far has to have some players. I like our chances with Dill, Hill and Tucker on defense. We have had an answer for everyone so far except the Bailey kid from Clarksberg. But there we shut down everyone else on the Clarksberg team and he couldn't beat us by himself. I predict a MTCS timeout to settle the troops before 2 minutes have passed.
  16. If Montgomery can play defense and stay out of foul trouble, Collingwood will hang with them. BUT McEwen post is very good and that is not likely to happen. Don't let 3 sophmores and 2 juniors starting mislead you. They are now 3 juniors and 2 seniors by experience. I predict a close game but McEwen pulls it out by 7.
  17. Guru, My two granddaughters went to a Christian school and supporting them through high school I noticed that the following is small. Reason is simple. There arn't many alumni living near the school. They almost all go to college and find jobs elsewhere. The traveling supporters will be relatives of players/cheerleaders and some of the student body. At PC there will be 3 generations of current and former players AND their families. There won't be many empty seats.
  18. MTCS has had an amazing tournament run. From 6W and 8L in District regular season and 6th seed in district tournatment all the way to sectional. WOW!!!!!! But the clock is ticking towards midnight and they return to the Boro in a pumpkin to watch the remaining 8 Teams. But my what a run! PC by 12 because there is not a killer instinct in this bunch. They seem to play as required to win. They win often and often win ugly. But they are all really great guys and represent PC well on and off the floor. A super class of young men.
  19. Cloudland Wartburg GBA FC McEwen - This could be a lot closer game than some might think. PC LC Humboldt
  20. I have got it the same way. My picks same a KC360. I think Regions 1,7 and 8 are really tossup games. Get them right and you have an edge.
  21. The odd number sectional winners are in one bracket and the even in the other. If 2 teams in the same Region are the best in the state, they will meet in the finals.
  22. The Cully/PC game was a lot closer than the final score would lead you to believe. PC was single digits in the 4th when there was a Cully Coach Tech Foul and a player flagrant intentional. That with PC making 14 of 22 in the 4th stretched it out to the final 15 point margin. PC half court offense wasn't very good first three quarters but we made our free throws in the 4th. The D overall was very good. Cully came to play and made it a ballgame but never had a lead at any time during the game. No head hanging justified by Cully.
  23. Less than 90 minutes before tip-off. I'm headed for the game. Good luck to all and evertone get back here safely so you can jack your jaw.
  24. The first round of Regions is usually where Cinderella goes home to play baseball. I give PC and WC the nod for the first round with the other two games being a toss up. D12 could sweep the first round but usually that doesn't happen. After the first round anyone can be beaten. My PC Vikings have to be considered the favorites but after the first Region game in the State Tournament all teams are capable of an upset. Before this season started, I predicted with witnesses that we would get upset in the Regional semi (and I REALLY HOPE that I eat that one). I see it better than 50/50 that Region 6 puts 2 teams at the 'boro. No upsets please. PC and WC in the finals with PC the winner.
  25. Accordcing to the bractet on coacht, first game of regional is at 7:00 on 2/25.
