  1. Indian, The reason publics are beating privates less is this: Too much crying, and not enough trying.
  2. Maybe you just have a bad attitude.
  3. The way I see it for 2003: Briarcrest and BGA are the favorites of the West and East/Middle. The two underdogs are ECS and Catholic. Any of these four could take the championship. I would rank my fab five as so: 1. Briarcrest 2. BGA 3. ECS 4. Catholic 5. Harding I think the top three are pretty close together in the hunt. And then it drops of from there slightly with Catholic and Harding. Apparently John Paul II is in AA. Anyone know if they will be any good? I guess this will change playoffs for the East/Middle so that the worst team doesn't make it to post-season.
  4. And then TSSAA will get flushed down the drain, because they will have no money to support their whims. All of the operational money will be in the PSSAA, because publics give TSSAA no money. And that means that publics will come crawling back to the PSSAA asking to be let in because they have no Athletics Association.
  5. You miss my point. I am NOT starting a debate. I am providing some comic relief, and your ineptitude has ruined the humor. I will say good day to you.
  6. beethoven I have been in this debate for over a year now. And yes I am aware that my screen name joined in February. I lost my old one on this board. I have been through this thing for quite awhile. And how long have you been here? It looks like since April... a whole 4 months. And that makes you... a scholar? I don't think so, greenhorn. To all others who got the joke This was a joke. I was just having a little fun whining for the privates since we never hear about how unfair it is for them. Ego, I think Pujo knew it was a joke and was playing along. So anyway - I am truly sorry some sorts (beethoven) could not see the sarcasm. But I will try and make it more sarcastic next time, or just warn people that what they are about to read is a joke.
  7. Thank you QueenBee. It's called competition and earning what you want. I'm glad some people see that.
  8. Ok, all of you have heard of Page high school, right? I want to expose something you won't believe. They recruit. You know why? Look at their volleyball team. They have won state three years in a row now. For them to be that successful and a volleyball powerhouse, you know they are recruiting. I mean, I don't have any proof, but they're winning, and winning = recruiting. And this recruiting thing makes for an unfair playing field. Just look at A-AA history for volleyball. A private school hasn't won a volleyball title in over 6 years. This is just not fair, and everyone knows it. We need to sanction these schools and prevent them from this unfair advantage so that privates have a chance to win too. And we know the privates can't play any better, so we need to weaken the publics so the privates have a better chance at winning. Privates haven't even won a single bowling title. Hendersonville has been recruiting star bowlers even before bowling was a sanctioned TSSAA sport. And since 1995, privates have only won 4 titles in A Basketball. The playing field is not fair for these privates. The publics recruit and everyone knows it. It's time to change this horrible travesty. It doesn't even matter if the privates are horrible teams. They are losing, and that can't be fair. Everyone should be entitled to a state titled. I mean it...
  9. beethoven For the whiny A teams, maybe. Ego and I are talking A, AA, AAA, and Div. II - meaning = everyone in the whole state. Ego and I are talking about whether privates control the top - and our conclusion is they don't. We're not talking about the small publics who can't get anywhere in sports, we're talking about the whole state.
  10. Ego A little clarification on volleyball. Harding played several of the Division I teams that were at state, and they really struggled. Sure Harding dominated Memphis Division I, but the rest of the state was a whole different story. Harding played two Nashville Tournaments. Believe me, I went to every single tournament Harding was in (except the FL Disney one). They got handled by Ooltewah, Page, and Brentwoood. In the first Brentwood Tourney, they went 3-6. They played Page three times, and they did get 1 win off of Page, but Page still dominated. And Page was the A-AA State Champion. They played Brentwood, and Brentwood totally leveled them. Brentwood was the AAA State Champion. They didn't give Harding a run for their money; they took Harding's money and ran. Harding had a lot of talent this year, but it still doesn't measure up with Division I. Division I has the run on volleyball. As is the case with volleyball, I have to agree that publics have the run on privates in sports besides football. (Although I think privates DO dominate Lacrosse.
  11. Like others have already stated, the dead rule takes away NO personal freedom. Athletes can practice on their own time. A student who wants a 1600 on the SAT is not going to get it by sitting in classes. That student will have to achieve that goal and work for it on his own time. While it may be tougher for teams to get organized with a dead period, it is NOT a communist rule.
  12. My school is a Christian school and people send their kids their to get a Christian education, not for sports. And our academics certainly don't appear too enticing. But that doesn'y mean everything is fine and dandy. We still have our problems. The point I'm trying to make is that private schools just don't try and build up small powerhouses. The 1A Publics would like for you to think that a school with 100 students has all 56 guys (all stud-football stars) playing on the football team, and 12 all-star guys playing basketball, and another 16 all-star baseball players. The publics want to make you think that every 1A Private only lets in students who are very talented in sports and rejects everyone else. That's just not true. My point is that private schools have every type of student that publics have. People with struggling kids send them to a private Christian school to try and make them better people. The private hand is not stacked. Unless you have gone to a private school or been employed by a private school, you have no room whatsoever to make the claims that you feel so compelled to make.
  13. Private schools do not have a stacked hand, either. That's a very bold comment to attempt. We had idiots trying to deal ecstasy, dropouts, and all kinds of people at my private school. Only about 25% of our students actually play sports.
  14. What have we learned so far? Well, let's split, split, split. Ok, Split A-AA into A and AA, water it down some more, and then a few of the whiners will get in.
  15. So now we're throwing privates out, not because they "recruit" and create an unfair playing field, but SOLELY on the fact that no publics were in the playoffs. According to the original post we should only give them the boot because a few dominated the playoffs.
  16. No. That's the purpose of paying. CoachT needs some cash to run this site, so he gives people a nice little bonus for paying. You can send a check or money to him. He's got an address posted somewhere on the website. Credit card is just a quicker option.
  17. Or could it be that maybe a few privates are actually good and it's ok for the percentages to fluctuate off the base line occasionally? 30% of 1A is private. Some years, there are no privates in post season. And other years, it seems like a private free-for-all. Just be patient, because things will always change.
  18. Ahem... Goodpasture Christian School has 377 students and is classified in SINGLE A, thank you. Check your facts before you post them.
  19. Most of the teams SBEC plays are in Memphis. I guess they figured it was easier to play a bunch of schools close by instead of traveling to every small town in MS.
  20. turbo - What your saying is, publics used to dominate a few years ago, and now the privates do. If you look at the whole history of TN sports, you'll see it goes back and forth between who dominates. Trust me wait it out a year or two and the publics will be back on top. Just be patient. CSense - You are being WAY to inclusive in your comments. A few privates happen to be good and you complain about it. You want to lump them all together because they're all evil. What about Franklin Road Academy, Trinity Christian School, Columbia Academy Christian Academy of Knoxville, Lighthouse Christian Academy, and all the rest of those ones? Should we throw them into 5A too? Why don't you look at the listing of 1A Football Schools. About 1 out of every 3 is a private school. This is just some crazy thinking, but you know, maybe a few of these private schools have the right to have a good team. It sounds to me like you want publics to always win everything and privates to crash and burn. Sounds like fair competition to me. . . NOT!
  21. ??? I would NEVER check that e-mail address, lol... What's really tacky and moronic is when you see someone with 2 posts who just signed up whining about coacht's "greedy pay service." You know that person has a user name with 300+ posts and a reputation and they're too scared to stand up for their factless opinions on their "good" screen name so they create a new one and whine about all they want. Most of the users I see whining about it are like that. So sad. . .
  22. It's called discrimination.
