My understanding is the City of Milan owns the field & stadium? If this is true, good for them for investing in Milan school’s athletics

I have no allegiance to Martin, so I really don’t care who they get. I think it is an intriguing search just because of the high profile QB. I do enjoy watching Westview play, and I look forward to them being competitive again. They are closer than you are giving them credit. My “inside sources” has said money has been an issue. Weakley Co can’t compete with other schools in the financial department. He’s not sure how many coaches they have talked to, but says they have had some quality guys come in. He’s also not sure if they will hire a coach Monday or in May, says administration is keeping it hush-hush

Sounds like at least one parent is giving “threats” “ Any parent who has a son at Westview that is serious about football, my advice to you is to consider the success & resources your child can have at almost ANY otherschool. Westview administration is enept at best, & is completely comfortable with continuing to stay a mediocre football program. “ “ If Westview gets this hire wrong this time( and they will) it will be interesting to see where some of their best players will be transferring....Henry Co? Trenton? Wait & see. The tables will turn.”

From inside sources, no coach has turned down the job. They are still working on it, idk why they haven’t been in a hurry to get a new coach

I bet this could be traced back to Pat Summitt. Grew up in middle, college in west, legend in East. Her influence has dominated girl basketball in the state

I think he has the best resume out of the three, but probably the least likely to leave his current position. Surely Adamsville would step in & try to keep him.

All of these guys would be good hires. Not sure about Cody coming back, but he had success at one point

I don’t think they’re putting any stock in Puckett, at least I haven’t heard his name as being interviewed..... I’m not a historian on Westview football, but I think they did go 42-0 back before the gold balls. And up until the Cantrell era, they were a pretty solid football team.

Fairley cleans up the stands at Christian Brothers Christian Brothers hosted Fairley's first-round playoff game against Adamsville. Fairley won 36-0 and cleaned up the stands after the game as a show of thanks to Christian Brothers.  ^^ that’s pretty impressive

No doubt Lake Co football has been better the last four years. Historically not sure I would place them as better, don’t have access to either record. I was more so referring to the towns & schools.

After reading some of these comments, I would say most of you guys replying to this topic have no clue about Westview football. Lake Co has never & will never be a better place than Martin, lol, there’s no comparison.

Simpson had a broken throwing arm and a first year head coach, not hardly a fair comparison. I know he is a great athlete, but no way he would beat Simpson out at QB

Would Puckett be able to handle this job? Tough district & a completely different type of school than Lake Co

Hope we stay at 6, 4 in all other sports

I do have direct info, and there is nothing more to the story. He is a family man, his parents are aging, and his kids are not with their grandparents. He is also an avid fisher & duck hunter, not much water in Martin.

I doubt they would be willing to match what he’s currently getting, but that would be a homerun

You do realize Ty is rated top 5 “dual threat” QB? He is there to throw & run, and I think he was the second leading rusher on WHS. Coach Simpson could be very valuable in landing a coach & educating a coach, he is a Div1 head football coach. WHS coaches would be dumb to not use the knowledge available at UTM. But make no mistake, WHS is a Weakley Co school, Simpson works for UTM. Weakley Co will have to ok the hire, not Simpson.

I don’t understand the “three strikes you’re out” comment? Cantrell was a great assistant for 15yrs, and earned every right at his chance to be HC. Bad first season, lots better second season, bad third season, and gone. Second “strike” is McConnell who is/was a great coach, moved the program back in the right direction, but left after one season to be with his family. So both guys were the right hire for Martin Westview at the time of their hiring. Westview is a fairly attractive job, I would think they would make another good hire similar to a McConnell type. They should have most of their skill guys & a 5* QB returning, but will be a little thin on the line
