  1. I can't stand Grace as much as anyone on this board. I think all privates should play in their own league, at least when it comes to the playoffs. If privates play in a public arena, they should play in 6A. I love Rockwood but I realize we are heavy underdogs (just like we were last year when GCA scores with 26 ticks left to barely beat us). McKamey will try to score 100 on us if he can as the feeling for us from the GCA side is much the same. You fake a punt on Greenback up 43 with a minute to go and wonder why no one likes your school. GO TIGERS!!!!!!! #AnybodyButGrace2013
  2. Unaka was one of the best teams we have played all year. The left handed pitcher was one of the best we faced all year. He held us to a season low 2 runs at Rockwood where our previous low was 9. We never could knock him out. Hats off to Unaka as they could have easily been dogpiling on our field instead of us. Jared Breazeale pitched his rear end off with 10 K's and only 3 walks. Another 6th inning win for the Tigers. This "team" is relentless, never gets down on itsself and "NEVER" quits!! Everyone has written us off as 2 and done next week but do not overlook the Tigers! We will play to the last out! #138miles #makingmemories #final8
  3. I think it will be a good test for both teams. Rockwood will have to hit and put up some runs to win. They must keep Matt Cunningham in check who last year feasted off Rockwood pitchers. I beleive he hit 5 bombs at our park during one regu;ar season game and the district tourney. Should be interesting.
  4. The ref's were the worst crew I may have ever saw. Take nothing away from CAK, they have a good team, but the officials performance was bad. They were cussing each other, using the "F" word, blew one inadvertent whistle costing the Tigers a TD and ejected one of our best players, for a non fighting personal foul-late hit (Can't figure this one out). I hope this crew is not assigned a play-off game next week as they do not deserve one!!
  5. OS may have beaten them also but I think we played them the last game of the year.
  6. No one in this region can beat Alcoa. Who was the last team in this region to beat Alcoa? I think it was Rockwood back in 2003. Can anybody confirm this?
  7. Alcoa had better be ready for the Tigers. This will be the last time for 14 Seniors to take the field at Civitan Field, Tom Pemberton Stadium. Nothing to lose. If they can get it in there head that Alcoa can be beat, we've got a chance. Not saying we are going to win but Alcoa is very beatable this year. The Tigers must control the clock and keep the ball away from Cobb and the Alcoa offense. I would love to be the first region team to put an "L" on the Tornado's. Go TIGERS!!!!!
  8. Local Cable channel BBB had Earl Nall on helping to explain the AA play-offs.
  9. Alcoa is down from previous years but they are still a very good football team. After losing 20+ seniors last year you can't expect to be as good. And as far as you middle school winning the county championship, they better cherish it cause Alcoa will never win the county championship in high school as Maryville rules.
  10. Rockwood vs Harriman and only 2 pages of smack!! What is the world coming to. Can Harriman stop the run? Can Rockwood contain Harriman's speed? Find out tomorrow night. We are 28 hours and 15 minutes from kick-off.
  11. Play or rest-----same result-------MARYVILLE IN A BIG WAY
  12. The team with the least turnovers will win this game Friday.
  13. The Blount County Championship will evade Alcoa again. Maryville by 3 TD's. The Rebels are the best 5A team in 4A ball!!!
  14. Either them or some other 'Private" school will win A and AA more than likely.
  15. Harriman--Johnson, Pryor Grace--Hedgepath, 8th grade catcher, Greenback--Smiddy Rockwood--Doughty, Allen, Mayton, Whitaker, Cooper, Clem, Breazeale, Duncan These are the ones that I can remember. I'm leaving out some from Cosby, Midway and some of the schools already mentioned.
  16. Bottom Line------8 of the last 9 Single A champions have been a PRIVATE school. The numbers don't lie. If you pay to go to school you should not be competing against public schools you should be competing against all the other private schools.
  17. After a slow start in the field and with the bats the Tigers warmed up in the 3rd inning and the rout was on. Looks like a 7:30 PM matchup with Jackson Christian at siegel High School Tuesday. Congrats to University High on a great season. It's a great feeling to be part of the "Elite 8" in Single A Baseball. Good luck Coach Cofer and the whole Tiger team!!!
  18. Ryan Qualls (The Polk County Flash) is my HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. First of all, hats off to Coach Tapp for coming up with a great game plan that almost won the game for Harriman. Julian Goins is one heck of a player. I'm so glad he is graduating. One Harriman fan stated that Rockwood people should be embarrassed to accept that win. I for one am proud to take the win to go along with the previous 6 for 7 in a row. I will agree the officiating left something to be desired. I believe Harriman was called for 9 penalties. In a well officiated game they probably get 18 penalties. They hold more than any team I've watched in a while. As far as the referees stealing this game from Harriman, I guess the 385 yards rushing for Rockwood had nothing to do with Rockwood winning or Harriman's inability to stop Bryant Allen (185 yds, 5TD's) for the second year in a row. I guess Harriman fumbling on the Rockwood 1 yd line had nothing to do with the loss either. As far as being embarrassed about beating up on a small single A team, we are the 5 smallest AA school in the state we are not a AAA state powerhouse. If you don't want to play us, don't schedule us. Hats off to the Rockwood team, trailing 21-7, for never lossing their composure and tying the game with 2 late 2nd quarter TD's. This was a great high school football game won on the FIELD by the Tigers, to be remembered for the rest of their lives. Congrats to our Seniors for finishing 4-0 against Harriman and 2-2 against Kingston. I'm looking forward to our Junior Class going 4-0 against Harriman next year. Good luck to Harriman the rest of the year. Hope we both advance to the playoffs.
  20. Playing on the short fences at OS, I like there chances. Thomas probably has the rock for the Devils. If Hariman is to win, they must pitch around the 2 Justice brothers. Likewise, OS will have to pitch around Cummings and Thomas. Should be a good game. I think both will have a chance to win on Friday and be at the Spring Fling.
  21. Rockwood beat CAK Tuesday night 6-1 behind a solid pitching performence from Zach Duncan and Colden Cooper. Duncan wet yard for the second consecutive day. We play a double header Friday night vs Rhea County and Crossville. The bats are starting to come alive. Go Tigers!!!!
  22. I have saw both schools play. Alcoa will win Friday night even without Warren and Sykes. I don't see Alcoa winnig it all now because with both of their defensive ends on the shelf, Huntingdon, If they win the semi-final, will be able to run the ball and control the clock.
  23. Congratulations to Brittany Cavalaris on scoring 16 in her first varsity basketball game against Cosby. We hear Gibbs starts 3 Frosh and will be a force within a couple of years. Your Rockwood fan club will be keeping an eye on you this year. Good luck Brittany and Gibbs.
  24. 91 points = no class----I only wish there was a team in AA that could stop them. One day they will be down and I hope everyone remembers these scores. GO CAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Alcoa scoring 91 on an outmanned GP squad shows the amount of class Alcoa has------NONE! Coach Reid better remember he will not always have the horses he has now. He won't always have Tennessee committments living with him. CAK has no chance just like all the other 2A teams in this state. We can only hope for a big upset from someone.
