  1. It is not illelgal to co-op players from different schools IF the schools are within the same system, one does not offer that sport to it's students and they are both members of the TMSAA. All 3 have to apply in order for it to not be a violation. If that is what North Anderson does they are within in the rules. By the way if ANY coach, school, or whatever is knowingly doing something illegal to win MIDDLE SCHOOL football games somebody needs something else in their life! However this particular discussion happens every year in the East Tenn Middle School conference. 2 years ago they were complaining about Clinton and Harriman who were both loaded with talent, last year it was Rockwood and Anderson Co. (again) who were both loaded and this year it's North Anderson and Harriman who are loaded as well. There may be some truth to Harriman using players over the limit but then again if they weren't good would anybody be complaining? Oh I heard Midway may have a kid to old as well. Which by the way is expected since they are having a good year! you need to get better or get over it!
  2. Pride can be a weakness. Never underestimate your opponent nor should we overestimate our own ability. lest we be found insufficient in our work ethic!
  3. What a shocker from Oneida v. Robbins. I thought this would be the Hawks year, or at least somebody's year other than Harriman or Rockwood to win the small school division. However or whomever wins up there it probably won't matter anyway. Nobody will beat HMS this year! To much talent, too much speed. I don't know what happens to all that talent when it gets to High school (M.S. 2championships, 2 runner-ups the last 4 years/ H.S. 2W-36L the last 4 years)but man something is happening. Can't blame that on divisions either, Rockwood has a very similar M.S. record to HMS the last few years and their H.S. has been in the playoffs with 6, 8, even more wins each of those years. I guess when HHS drops to single A next year we'll find out. Anyway back to M.S. Harriman is 2004 champion hands down everyone else playing for 2nd. good luck to all the teams though.
  4. Disappointing loss for the Tigers tonight. BUT Alcoa is OUTSTANDING. Rockwood players, and staff will certainly put this loss behind them and focus on the next game while correcting any mistakes they feel that they might have made. RHS will be in the playoffs but as far as a rematch is concerned, It would only happen after a victory against two other opponents in the 1st and 2nd rounds, one of which would probably be Sweetwater. Coach Webb WILL NOT let his boys look that far ahead! He's a take it one game at a time coach and the only thing he will be thinking about as far a s Alcoa is concerned is ways to get better after the embarrassing defeat of this past Friday. Speaking of playoffs, rematches, and championships There are 4 weeks left in this season and A LOT of things can happen in that span of time including injuries, attitudes, and better or worse overall play. SO let's get ready for 1 game at atime. I mean the H.S. football season is short enough already let's not skip ahead and miss some great moments from these kids in between. Good luck
  5. Here's the real deal: AC plays in the 2A division of a league called the East Tennessee Middle School Football association. There are about 10-12 teams in each division. Robertsville, Jefferson, and Clinton are usually the stronger teams in the 2A division however this year two other teams came on big. AC being one and Cherokee (Kingston) the other. In the lower division Rockwood and Harriman have dominated the last 4 years. Each has won 2 of the "state Championships" each. In fact they have had to beat one another in that game for the last 3 years. Also Rockwoods' team from this year and Harrimans' team from last were probably the best teams in the entire league "A" or "AA". The league plays a state championship game. named solely for the prestige of the players. Coaches (I think) at these schools do realize it's not an actual state championship BUT they play it up so that the kids can really have something to play for and feel like they have attained a great height in winning it all! What makes it stink is when fans, coaches, players, or whomever some of you are start a thread like this to argue who is the best AND then start criticizing other posters for their views. Anyway if you really want to know how good some of these coaches, players, or whoever are then track them thru High School and see what, If anything, they accomplish there. I mean individuals can be terrific at the m.s. level and mediocre at the next just as they can be terrible in m.s. and really blossom in h.s. Look at this example. Rockwood middle wins 2 championships H.S. program had been in the playoffs the last 2 years and won 7,8 or more games each of the last few. Harriman middle wins 2 championships H.S. program is on like a 40 game losing streak.
  6. I know NOTHING about the Unaka Rangers, didn't see 'em play, couldn't tell you the name of even one player on the team. I was in the boro last week and saw my team lose before getting a chance at the BALL. BUT I want to say two things 1. IF my team had one I wouldn't have looked back down the list of this seasons' opponents and compared ANY loss by ANY amount to ANY team as proof to our success. 2.) ALL you people in Unaka, Stoney Creek, or wherever the school is located be sure and invite all these people who are dissing your Championship to come by and View the Trophy given to the last team standing at the "END" of the season, with That School's name on it any time they want! Congratulations Unaka Rangers.
  7. Tiger fan says "good luck to the Tigers" Her's a little info, may or may not be totally accurate. Private schools that play in public leagues may not offer $$$$ to students who wish to participate in sports. Meaning a student cannot receive Finiancial Aid and play on school teams (not an absolute truth though, tssaa does have an allowance for this, don't know exactly what it is) Therefore most private schools who compete in TSSAA events may or may not be "recruiting". Unless the player they are recruiting can pay their own way. If that is possible then I'm sure there are some instances where kids go to these schools to compete. Some of that may change with the new multiplier rule that takes effect next year, I believe. They should probably just split the two up though. I'm not sure it's very fair to expect a small private school to play up 2 or maybe even 3 classifications because people think they may be recruiting. O.k. done talking about it. Doesn't matter in this week's games anyway. unless they are going to use the multiplier system in scoring the game. Let's just play.
  8. I agree with Tank: sometimes young people, and not so young people, have to learn that decisions they make, whether thoughtfully considered or made in haste do indeed have consequences. These consequences may not be likeable but they are definitely learnable. What I mean is simply that these young ladies (all of them) have learned something from this event and that's important regardless of any of our opinions in the matter. maybe they learned that "walking away" from a situation is never as good a solution to the problem as discussing it in a rational way. Possibly some learned that follow the leader is not as fun a game now as when they were small children, because the leader may not know exactly where they are leading all the followers. There is nothing easy about this whole deal. BUT in the society that we have developed it has become to easy to say "that's o.k." or "I understand" or "don't worry about it" and we teach old and young that if they simply say I'm sorry or my bad, that no matter what has happened or been said it's all going to be o.k. This simply is wrong! We must make accountability matter again. I feel sorry for all the girls and I especially feel sorry for the coach who did not ask to be in the situation BUT handled it I think in a firm and fair way. Maybe 10 years from now the coach will still be holding players accountable for their actions. Better yet maybe all of these young ladies will be teaching their children to be accountable for their actions. Now that's a decision all of us can benefit from. Good Luck to all!
  9. I hear the AC middle school coaches may have been doing some illegal filming of their opponents each week? You know going or sending someone to a game featuring a future opponent and filming it. Could this be true???? If so, could it be right???????
  10. There are certainly some good points being made about Middle School and High school. I agree that there is simply no comparision to the two levels of "play" that an individual experiences at the two levels. However, success breeds more success, and winning at one level can certainly translate to a winning attitude at the next. I'm sure the H.S. coaches at these schools like having players, coaches, and programs that feed them winners rather than having a bunch of losing going on. As for HHS, they have a good coach and staff at the H.S. but as a guy with some inside info I've got news for some of you, Don't expect the streak to end anytime soon or at least if it does don't expect more than a couple of wins. As far as i can remember about M.S. football: i don't know about divisions but Rockwood, Harriman and others in the county play in the East Tennessee M.S. football association. There are other conferences in E. TN. 1st year both were in the conference was 98, Rockwood made the playoffs, Robertsville won it all (everyone in one classification) From that point on it's been all Harriman and Rockwood both teams have dominated the conference with their only losses coming from each other over the last 4 years. Kudos to those staffs and teams. Hope the info helps and remember win or lose support these KIDS.
  11. What about them Rockwood Middle school tigers???????? 2003 East Tennessee Middle School Football Champions!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Yes coach Webb is stil the coach. I think the tigers could have one of their best seasons this year especially since James Thompson won't be playing for the tigers. Many will say this will hurt the tigers instead, don't count on it he was a selfish player with talent that couldn't keep up with his mouth! Many of the players (ALL) are glad he won't be joining them this year.
  13. I haven't read all of this thread but I was wondering .......is it for certain that the current head coach is leaving or is all this just conjecture????????
  14. shoulda used the spell checker..... that's feeder program.
  15. What is this a chat line or something between you two?????? just joking HA HA. I don't know an awful lot about OS, sounds like things there are pretty much the same as the are everywhere (politically speaking). From what I do know I think it would be a shame if the job opened and it wasn't offered to a person who was putting in the time and for the most part doing a good job............ Bilyeau or however you spell it. He's been the middle school coach quite a while and although he may not be the most loved man in OZ you really cannot question his results or his dedication to getting these results. I mean are you not going to reward a person who if they want it , probably deserves it. Many people don/t want to hear this but the success that a H.S. program has or doesn't have can almost surely (but not always depending on the coach) be traced back to the fedder program.
  16. Okay CHS here's some info for you......Beware reading to much on this board about how bad UH is. Many of these Rockwood Fans only saw them one night and even though I agree with the poor play by the Tigers and the fact that UH certainly did not appear to be much, they still got the W! Maybe that's their bag.....winning ugly. OR maybe they played their worst game of the year as well on Monday and had just enough to be not as bad as Rockwood was. At any Rate I've seen Cosby play on about 4 occasions and it would appear that they are a much better squad than UH, but........you don't win 'em on paper or on CoachT, so take it on the court!!!! Seems like some of the posts I read about Cosby are from their players so I hope they check this out. By the way, not only do I think some of the post I read on here from the Cosby players, they must also be very classy young men as seen in their comments about a tough opponent (RHS) Good luck EAGLES!!!!
  17. I don't know exactly what happened last night but if the same team that battled Cosby,Wartburg, and CAK last week in the regions would have showed up the folks in Rockwood would be making travel plans next week. I don't know who or what is at fault for the poor showing last night but it was certainly that, POOR! RHS embarrassed the rest of the region by losing to a team that would not get out of, if it got into at all, last weeks region tourney! Oh well I guess the Tigers will get ready for next year and another terrific opportunity like this, seeing as how an opportunity like this comes along so often!!
  18. Take this as a compliment Shaniaguy, Yes I hope Cosby loses tonight. They are good, not that I'm saying HHS isn't. But who would you rather face "IF" your team was in the regional finals? Certainly not a tradition rich strong team like Cosby who has gone to the state tourney the last couple of years. I bet Wartburg and RHS are both pulling for HHS.
  19. Without letting the cat out of the bag I know a little more about the program than what I am willing to admit. I agree with your statements about Dennis, he's a great asset to the team and to that school. A fantastic young man all the way around. My point was that the team has seemingly gotten a little gun shy at times or , as Coach K wouuld say a litttle discombobulated (probably didn't spell that right). Take last night for example, 20 points in the 1st qtr and then struggle the rest of the way, mainly from shooting ourselves in the foot. 3 straight turnovers to start the 2nd half and 5 out of the 1st 6 possessions. Anyhow I don't won't to argue about the success of the Tigers with an obvious Tiger Fan, I think 21-7 or whatever is great and hope we stick it to the Dawgs tomorrow. Coach k runs a good program and his kids are good kids who have worked hard at times but seemingly lost focus at others. I still hope they get to the 'boro. Hope I didn't sound like a complainer, especially about the kids or coaches. GO TIGERS!!!
  20. Depth is certainly no problem for the Tigers. They are as deep as any team in this tourney. Many of their players, maybe to many, get minutes in every game. Not just mop-up but important minutes. So that won't be a problem for them. If RHS plays up to potential they will win. Not trying to take props away from the Dawgs but the simple fact is RHS has the potential to be extremely explosive. Anyway I agree, close game, two good teams, probably a barn burner. It's a toss-up.
  21. Hey sportsfan88 are you sure the tiggers worked all that hard to get where they are, 3rd????? looked more to me like they limped thru the final month of the season and settled for third place. You know they didn't even get by Oakdale in the first round last week without some difficulty.
  22. If you take careful notice in many of the newer gyms today you will notice that the stands are often yused as benches for both teams. In Rockwood, much like many of the other gyms in our area the opposing teams bench is placed in such a way as to give sort of an advantage to the home team. I mean the coach's and players have to battle loud fans as well as a never ending torrent of children and adults making their way to the bathroom and/or the concession stand. It certainly serves as both a distraction for the opponent as well as an advantage for the home team. I don't like this set up at all, even though I am a tiger fan. However many many teams have gyms set up in this matter. In the RHS gym there is no way to avoid it because there simply is no other place to put either team. At any rate great game by great teams sure hope they meet again and also hope thatthey both make it to the boro. If so I'll be there.
  23. It is unfortunate that some people use this site to bash fans, players, and/or coaches. Last night's game was a great contest between two good teams. Both sections of fans were really into the game and as always some were a little to in to it, ON BOTH SIDES. I had heard there might be bad blood between these two teams partly due to shall I say racial prejudice. However the sportsmanship between the players on the court was nothing short of dignified and very respectful to one another. There were several occassions that I saw players from the opposing teams helping one another up and even patting each other on the back after a particularly good play. As for the coach who let his emotions get the better of him, let's hope that he simply let frustration get the better part of himself and that the incident will not be repeated. (however an apology for his actions would be nice, if for no other reason than to show he is a better person than what some may be thinking). At any rate, what a game! Sure am glad I got to see it. By the way the RHS coach was more than complimentary on the radio after such a tough loss, Kudos to him for his Sportsmanship.
