Every team should want to play against better athletes and will have to get better.I also would rather lose to a team by 2 points than to beat some teams by 30 points.at the same time,especially with Single a teams with not many students that play sports,is it really fair to them.I know some Single a schools that havnt won probably ten games in 10 years,A school with maybe 250 students and maybe half are females takes the students down to maybe 125.Then you have freshmen and sophomores and that takes it down even farther.Then a lot of the boys that are left may not be athletes or like sports.So it's hard to maybe compete against schools with even 150 students that are full of athletes.

I agree.I think most people felt Coach Boykin would retire after this year and going out with his senior loaded team.Humboldt may very well have talent as someone said but think they will be middle of the pack the next few years behind Union city,Lake co,Gibson co,South fulton and possibly Trenton.Congrats to coach Boykin and good luck.Had the pleasure of meeting him years ago and have talked to him time to time and have sat with him at a few games.A very good guy with a sense of humour.Hope you enjoy your retirement.

Congrats to Union City on finally bringing home the Gold and carrying the banner for our district and region.Thought the tech was going to hurt Union City.Union City announcers were very gracious about coe saying she was making some shots from 25 to 27 feet.Said the rest of the team didnt look like they could shoot.Raven Fair only had 2 points but by putting her on Coe the second half and the job she did must have been outstanding..Congrats to Jackson Co also.They sure liked to have pulled it off again with basically a one woman show today by Coe.Also congrats to Coe for being named Miss Basketball again.Well deserved,.Also to Amber Fair for being named the MVP of the tournament and to 4 of the UC girls being named to the all tournament team.

You got your wish.Never know from one game to another but I think thsi year Union City is the best team in the state.Can they be the best team for 1 more game?I think yes.Union city by about 10 points.Too many big girls.Foul trouble wont hurt them.Will take a very good shooting game from outside to beat them and with Raven Fair and Hudson maybe playing against the best shooters,think they will be hard to beat.Could hurt Union City if Raven Fair or Hudson gets in foul trouble but if one of the bigs,they have another on the bench.Really would like to see Union City finally finish the deal.If not,all we're going to hear is over rated,Region 7 is the best/Go Twisters.

I'm going with the home grown Union City Lady Twisters to win by around 10 points and finally get 14A over the hump.Already handidly beat the team.Meigs Co that beat Clarkrange and their transfer team .I think Jackson co is next.I believe thats what the Union City Messenger is going with .Probably knows more than the writer for the Tennessean.

Thats what I was saying before the tournament and before Clarkrange lost.All I have been reading is Clarkrange is the best team in the tournament and would kill Union city and dresden if they had played.I said the Tenn was just a writer that hadnt seen the teams and was just a guess.Wonder who they are picking now?I'm sure Jackson co.I filling in and writing on behalf of the Union city Messenger and the Lake co banner.Union city will beat Meigs co

They may not can but can keep them from playing sports for at least a year if they'd step up to the plate..A lot of schools in West Tenn are too far away from going to other schools.Lake Co is about 30 minutes from any other schools.Let a couple of Obion Central or Dyersburg players go to Lake Co in years past and would have made a big difference.We play with girls from Lake Co.Not from neighboring schools

Wasnt talking about Jackson co having a transfer from York.I read that Clarkrange got a couple from York and that Jackson co has a tranfer from somewhere.I said I think I read that.So I should have typed it out better.Just said that I think I read Jackson co got one.Meaning a transfer.Not from York.

Yes it is.Most schools here play the kids that are in their zone.Been reading about Clarkrange getting some players from York and I think i read JC has one.Not illegal as they can go to a school of choice their freshman years.Just wish the TSSAA would make kids go to the school they are zoned.I know a lot of schools have open enrollment and a lot of Memphis,Nashville schools may have schools within 3 or 4 miles of each other.Just make them go to the school they are zoned.

The Tennessean is just a writer that probably doesnt know any more than we do.Probably hasnt seen Union city ,Dresden or a lot of the other teams.I'm pretty sure the Union city Messenger isnt picking the same way.It may happen but just a guess.We could probably pick as good as he /she could about the teams.

And Humboldt.Cant see them being that high this year with all they are losing.Poll isnt correct.We'll see this coming season.

I agree with GC Pioneer about if they combined to just 1 team they would be scary.Lake Road,Hillcrest and I believe Oak hill and Ridgemont did that in Obion co and they were very good in football.Lake Co with only their one school has to play these guys as well as Northview which gets kids from Trimble and Newbern..Dyersburg,three Oaks,all bigger schoools and feeder schools for Dyersburg,Dyer co etc.And have more than held their own.Plus my thinking is that Lake Co is playing all these bigger schools with great talent so when they get to high school,they will have alrready played against the best and not be intimidated.And those athletes will be playing Double a and Triple A so like Lake Co having played those guys and will be in single a.Look for Union City and Lake Co to be very good in boys basketball the next 5 or 6 years.Union city and Lake Co only has 1 senior starting on their high school teams.Both had very strong middle school teams and Lake Co is starting a couple good looking seventh graders at the middle school.I believe South Fulton and Gibson co will also have strong programs.And then youhave Humboldt,always strong,a very good looking young Halls team and probably Trenton in years to come.Heard they had maybe the best middle school team in the area.So District 14 has been known to be the toughest district in the state and in years coming,think it's going to be even tougher with all these teams .But in getting back to the feeder schools.Yes would be a tough team but also take away from the other schools by having more players.And who knows if a player that is playing at his school and doesnt get tp play at all may not get much better.I remember Tony Delk as a freshman and sophomore and it seems like after that he wasnt the same player.Could be the same for one of thses players.By at least being on the court,will get better.May make for a stronger team but not sure if it will in the long run..

I agree with UC cant help having to play the teams in their district.They have played some good teams outside their district.Just like Lake Co a few years ago.Union City only had Gibson co and Greenfield and Lake Co had Union city,Greenfield and Bradford as the teams to give them a challenge.Lake Co went out of state for tournaments and played Liberty,Southside,Central,Westview etc.But just like the Lake Co team,I think this year has to be Union City's year.I think the well has run dry after this year,Raven Fair will be back just as Tiana Gray was for Lake Co but wont have much help.Looks to be Gibson Co with maybe Greenfield the next several seasons.Next year I expect Middleton and Gibbon Co to be the two best teams in our area.in Single a.Think Gibson Co and maybe Greenfield will be saying the same thing next year and maybe a few years after that.We cant help the teams we play in the district.I think Lake Co will be maybe the third best team in the district next year,could be between them and Union city.Lake Co has some good looking middle school players and probably about 3 or 4 years away.

Union City score was 75 to 29

Greenfield was beating Huntingdon 30 to 21 after 3.think the final score of the Union City game was 79 to 23.

I agree with all your picks.Think my Lady falcons are the only 14A team to taste defeat.Just don't have the talent.I think it will be Union city and gibson co in the championship

If Husker Vol is who I thought he is and goes by the same name on Facebook he's from Gleason.Maybe there is another Husker.But with him keep naming the other district to pull upsets and with him pcking Lake Co because he does go to quite a good bit of Lake Co games,I'm leaning on the Husker I know.

You guys ,i was just having fun about your announcers even though he did ask Mike about 100 questions during the game.But I actually like listening to them..lolBut they are UC all the way.When Lake Co played Humboldt ,it was Humboldt couldnt hit the end of a garbage can.Didnt want to maybe give Lake co credit.Then when it came to Humboldt-Union City it was .Why is it Mike that when Humboldt plays Union City they cant seem to miss .Something about those jerseys Mike.And Mike says.Well we just have to give Union city props for being who they are and bringing out the best from all the other teams..lol..The announcers dod say that with the tournaments getting ready to start and looking ahead ,he thinks Humboldt and Union city will meet in the championship.What do you think mike?

I've been saying Fred was biased for years .He always seems to call against Lake co when they play Bradford,Hu,boldt.Same for Eric Ward.Arent they from Gibson co.Would be like me officiating a Humboldt -Lake Co game and I live in newbern,not in the same county like they do,They can decide games during the regular season and cause a lower seeding getting in the tournaments.and when the district starts and a team has to win that first game or go home,they can end the season for a team before they get to the semi finals.I personally wish the TSSAA would send officials to different sites once the district tournament starts.Let the other district get our fine officials
