  1. If they are going to wear them at the next level, get used to them now. Baseball has been doing it for years. By this level they are playing regulation distances, why not plaqy by as many of the same rules as we can to get our girls better prepared for the next level.
  2. Great job the coaches and players from Morristown West. We (Seymour) played them in the opening round of elimination play and they were tough. Great tournament. We will be back next year.
  3. so what you are saying is public schools get hosed
  4. Actually it is Benton Householder Stadium and Gary Householder Field. And more recently, Gary Householder Fieldhouse.
  5. Congratulations to the Pigeon Forge JV team on a successful season so far. They have won 3 games in a row improving their record to 3-1 after a opening loss to a tough Carter team. All of their JV games have been great with some great competition. It seems that more staffs are taking their JV a little more seriously which makes for great games. We have really enjoyed being a part of them. The turning point for this team was the second week against Rutledge. The Rutledge team was very tough and physical (just like Varsity). They put up some quick points and led 20-6 at halftime. However, our boys battled back and came up with the 26-20 win. That was really important for these guys to learn how to win. With limited success on varsity, it is very important for them to get that feeling inside and want more of it. The entire JV will pretty much be our starters for the next two years (very few juniors). The JV team is big and physical. It is nice in our situation this year at PF to have something for the parents and fans to look forward to in the coming years. As anyone knows. a little success goes a long way. But again, Congrats and keep working hard. They play a very big and physical Heritage team next week at PF.
  6. I would like reiterate the part of being a gentleman. He is the first one o grab a cooler or bucket of balls. He is an outstanding young man and has done a great job of CONTRIBUTING to the teams success. Tyler himself will tell you that it is a team effort. No team can survive with only one player, that is why we play between the chalk. PF has an outstanding group of young men that contribute day in and day out. Sure they are not your prototypical players, but they give their "very best" (quote from Miracle) to get the job done each time they take the field. Great job on another great season Tigers. Keep the rolling in Murf.
  7. We are having our Annual Tiger Classics at Pigeon Forge High School again this summer. Ranging in ages from 8u to High School. We have a great atmosphere for players and families. You could be done with your game and riding go-carts, putt-putt, swimming, arcades, aquariums, Dollywood, Splash Country Water Park, mountains, Gatlinburg, resturants, movie theater, lake (and on and on) within 15 minutes. If you would like to come and visit us this summer for a tournament or just bring your team and play a few games on the weekend, contact us at: 865-774-5790 x104 and ask for Coach Smelcer. These tournaments are open for High School teams and Travel teams. We just want to play baseball.
  8. Don't forget Chris Vaccarella from Pigeon Forge going to Union as well. Ricky Branch to Carson Newman, Brandon Cogdill and David Moore are both going to Maryville College ( I think...). Good luck to all of our yound men from PF going on to play college ball.
  9. When I was a Head baeball coach at a school in east tennessee, i had a kid that stole 9 bases in one game and 14 in the doubleheader. The pitcher was not very good and the catcher was young. It was not against quality competition, but that is how some records are broken.
  10. To along with LL's statement, if you take all the numbers and line them up, PF should not stand a chance. For example: PF's Region has an average power ranking of 42.5/highest rank Carter - 14 none others above #39 AE's Region has an average of 16.1/highest rank Fulton - 2 4 of 7 in the top 15 PF's offense has scored 155/ avg 15.5 a game AE's offense has scored 226/ avg 22.6 a game PF's defense 156/ avg 15.6 per game AE's defense 162/ avg 16.2 per game You can say all you want bout the numbers, but in a game like this, it is all about who wants to show up and play. Momentum will play a huge role in this game. AE does play in a much tougher Region during the season and according to the numbers they should win the game. But, I would not coutn anyone out during the playoffs. Anything can hapen. All it takes is for someone to have a bad night, and their season is over...
  11. This year's brackets are lookng much more competative than in the past. 1A has 4 teams with a losing record. 4-6,4-6,4-6,2-8 2A unfortunately has 7 all 4-6 3A the best with only one 2-8 4A has 2 4-6,2-8 5A has 2 as well both 4-6 Congrats to all teams across the state that have stepped their game up this year.
  12. I agree with Shotdoc. Alcoa needs to get their starters in street clothes during half time and stand them somewhere where their RING finger wont get broke. It would be a shame for it not to fit after they win another one.
  13. WOW! Some needs some Valumm (spelling?). How about the facts. Could we discuss those for a minute without Hack butting in?! I like what coachsbigfan said about the Kingston game. The same could be said about PF in the Union game. They gave up! Then how about the AE-Catholic game. AE played a great ballgame but gave the game a way on special teams and fumbles. The same could be said about the PF-Carter game. PF gave the game away on a busted defensive play, key fumbles and a pick-six. AE-Webb. AE got out played PF-Rockwood. PF got out played It seems that both teams are playing the same kind of ball this year, up and down. Both have showe signs of being a good team. At other times, they look like they want to give up. again, I think that it will come down to desire and special teams. Both defenses are tremendous.
  14. Hack needs to calm himself down. I do not know who he is. But he needs to cool it. I am PF supporter and enjoy watching them play, and I have no idea who he is. All I know is that I would like to PF get that first ever playoff win. They are hungry for it, and I feel like it could happen this week. I do think the kicking game could be the difference. If they let AE get ouot and run, it could be a big change in momentum.
  15. After talking with an inside source. I heard that PF is going to line up in two tight power I and try to run it down AE's mouth. I hope AE is ready to cram 11 in the box and play man coverage if needed.
  16. SPLITBACK - Let's go ahead and make that 17-14. I like PF to score a couple and win it on a Harper FG. The FG may come early, but I think that will be the difference. Neither team has a quick striking O, so it should be a low scoring, fast game. I will be surprised if the clock ever stops.
  17. PF has not lost much. Last year when they played KC, they were starting mostly sophmores. This year those sophmores are juniors and are playing well. PF had way to much wasted talent last year. They had many of their starters on this year's team in the same positions last year battling each other for PT. This year that talent has been dispursed and utilized. I do not do much trash talking, I just give facts. If PF can hold on to the ball on offense, they are a tough team with many sets that chew up the clock. Defensively, they were scored at Tellico off a turnover on their side of the field. Rutledge and G-P scored their TDs the same way. Meigs County (major props to Meigs for the coming to play against PF, awesome QB. Someone needs to be looking at this kid. Is anyone?) scored two of their four from turnovers insde the thirty or fourty. All I know is that PF is allowing 11.5 PPG and KC is scoring 49 PPG. Something has got to give!! Should be exciting. I do like seeing that none of the PF PLAYERS are trashing talking. That is great. Good luck gentlemen! P.S. Their huge lineman went to Carson-Newman. Their OLine coaches played their. It is key for C-N to be able to recruit players who already understand the veer offense. They also lost their QB to Tusculum, RB/LB to Pikeville, OL/DL to Maryville College, OLB to New York (plus others who did not go anywhere and did not contribute that much). That is all they lost, and next year they lose even less: 1 DB, 1 LB, 2DLs, 1 OL
  18. Pigeon Forge Rickey Branch (SR)(MLB)- 6'1" 220 sub 5.0 40 speed (around 4.7), Ran 200m on track team. Has recieved letters from many top schools. David Gibson (JR)(OLB/TE)- 6'0" 215 sub 5.0 40 speed (around 4.8), also ran track Billy Wilson (JR)(MLB/OT)- 6'2" 240 5.0 40 speed, also ran track Grady Huskins (JR)(OLB/FB)- 5'11" 200 sub 5.0 40 speed (around 4.7) Caleb Moore (SR)(OLB)- 5'9" 195 sub 5.0 40 speed, played cnterfield for state runner up baseball team. Possibly the best open field tackler in our conference. Josh Branch (SO)(?/RB)- 5'10" 200 sub 5.0 40 speed (around 4.6-4.7), ran 200m relay with big brother Rickey, ran the 400 and 400 relay. Brandon Wilson (FR)(?/RB)- 5'10" 190 (and growing fast) probably the fastest of all the backers. All of these boys bring the wood when they come. I have watched, played and coached a lot of football, never have I seen a group of backers with this much depth, smarts and aggression before. they all want playing time and they fight hard everyday to get it. Practices are basically a linebackers showdown. Pracitces are filmed, and I swear a highlight film of the backers group work could be made. It is unbelievable. I just hope they play half as hard during a game.
  19. Great post budrock! I hope the info is correct. I know that people are saying all kinds of things about our (I am a high school football coach) schedule. Most of which is not true. I think that Alcoa -Fulton or A-E will be a better rivalry in the long run. I hope that Alcoa can schedule those types of teams.
  20. Wait a Minute! I am not saying that anyone is whining. I do appreciate the support for Transition Threes, but I am neutral in this discussion. I do have my opinion, but everyone does. I am trying to look at both sides and challenge each one. Again, thanks for the support, but I am not saying anything about whining. I just like a good discussion that doesn't get into all the trash talking.
  21. I do not want to butt into you alls converation but to elaborate on TNT's comment on Heritage beating Alcoa in girls basketball every year... It is a little different when you have 30 games on a schedule as oppose to 10. I would not care to play Farragut in baseball because I know that I would have 39 or so other games to make up the difference. However, when you have 10 games to make a season, and you are already playing a region schedule that they (Heritage) are, it is tough. Plus, being a coach I know that it is nice sometimes to not be on the edge of your seat, having sleepless nights or whatever else because of a game. Every once in a while it is nice to be able to sit back with confidence and look forward to a game. Grant it, Maryville Football, Farragut Baseball, Heritage/Seymour/Sevierville Girls Basketball can play that type of schedule and get better. Heritage keeps playing that kind of schedule and has not had much improvement. They need to try something different. As I have said before, you have to win games in order to get talent on the field, but you need to play the best competition. This is one of those which comes first, the chicken or the egg questions. Also, why are the Alcoa fans worried about losing Heritage when they keep saying that Heritage should play the best. Shouldn't Alcoa being looking for a better team, whether 5A or 1A? Just wondered what the Alcoa fans thought about that. It sounds like a double standard. You want Heritage to play the best competition, but inturn, you want them to play you all. Shouldn't you all be looking to play A-E or Fulton or somebody of that calibur???? This is a serious question. I am on the outside of the Blount County Series. I have never been a part of it. I am enjoying this post though. I like hearing other peolpes opinions without it going to personal attacks or things of that nature. I would like to hear thoughts about this.
  22. Not to sound like a broken record, but I again agree with mapperman. I have W.H. playing Maryville for the Championship. We can't forget that Maryville lost last year and I don't think the coaching staff will allow this team to get over confident. Plus THS will be playing on a lot of emotion. That can sometimes hurt you in this round. Emotion is good, but you have to play smart. I think Maryville will win by at least 17. W.H and M.M. will be a close game with W.H. winning by around 10.
  23. I have to agree with mapperman. I have the same winners picked. When the playoffs first started I had A-E picked. So far the other teams teams I had picked are still in the hunt.
