  1. Actually none of the District games were listed as cupcake cause ya know....You kinda...sorta...pretty much cant decide who you play for district games
  2. Lets hope everyone is wearing the appropriate team colors. CoachT doesn't need me going on ANOTHER rant about wearing colors that don't traditionally match the school uniform!!!
  3. What is this Blount County Kickoff Bowl that we speak off? Hopefully Im not going to have Alcoa and Maryville in the same stadium 2 weeks in a row cause I hate getting to games before school lets out. However if Neyland wants to open their gates we can have William Blount vs Heritage at 6pm and Alcoa vs Maryville at 9 in back to back games
  4. Mcminn wins by 3 touchdowns yea even I cant say that with a straight face. Part of me wants to see Alcoa hang 90 on a team again. Do I feel bad when things like that happen? Of course but as the Ol Ball coach said, "Its my job to score. Its your job to stop me." I think when you're prepping for a game (especially playoffs) and you look and go HOLY CRAP, they put up 90 points on _______" it gives you such a HUGE mental edge. Final will be 63-0 though.
  5. First Ive heard of this. Any credible sources or just word of mouth?
  6. Maybe its the Steve Spurrier in me, but I miss the Alcoa teams that would hang 90 on a team.
  7. Alcoa doesnt play in D-II, NAIA, NCAA, 4a, 5a, or 6a so who really gives a ####?
  8. Hey Alcoa doesnt have to jump classifications. If Im not mistaken, I believe Alcoa only has 7 games scheduled next year. Why dont the "big boys" call up Alcoa and take spots on their schedule. That way when big bad 6a gets beat they cant say it was by teams in their region and they deserve playoff spots still
  9. Im starting to think people want Alcoa to move up so their team doesnt get slaughtered by them and they can enjoy football into the middle of November for once. Alcoa has already beaten arguably the best team in 6A. What more do you want? Oh yea, forgot we have to play Trinity, South Panola, Phoebus, De La Salle, Maryville, Hoover, North Gwinnett, and Oak Ridge and Farragut (because people actually think they're powerhouses for some reason even though neither has won a championship in what, 20 years?)
  10. My prediction for this game.... I will pay $6 too much to watch about 4 minutes of football.
  11. Too bad bands dont win football games.
  12. All that was before we had open enrollment!!
  13. Sucks that Catholic got beat so bad. I was hoping for a big Catholic vs Maryville matchup as I wanted to go that week since Alcoa was off. Ill probably still go and cheer on the ol ball coach. Hopefully its still a good game
  14. I paid $2 to watch a football game and $4 to watch Howard's band!!
  15. Alcoa hasn't lost a home game in 3 years. After tonight, they still wont have a home loss in 3 years. Lets just hope the yahoos in our band don't try to have another "band war" with a Chattanooga school again like they did a few years ago and completely embarrass themselves.
  16. Well said. I too was an OOZ kid (although I never paid tuition ) but I would rather get a better education, have better teachers (that are more available) and also play sports for a better program then go to a school thats closer to my house. For 2 years I drove past William Blount Dr to go to Alcoa and my final 2 years I drove past Heritage High to get to Alcoa. Which brings up another good point. Just because you're an OOZ player.....doesn't mean you're some D1 5 star prospect. However I was the best OOZ Extra Point lineman Alcoa has ever seen!!!
  17. First Ive seen of tssaa site as I didnt use it for my research. As I did mention my numbers could be off a little but how much nobody probably knows except for Alcoa School Board. I find it odd that Alcoa reported a nice round number like 550. Seem more like an educated guess to me, but I could be wrong. Here is the site I was using that seems to give a more technical break down of Alcoa Enrollment. http://www.city-data.com/school/alcoa-high-school-tn.html
  18. Im not gonna lie, at one point a year or so ago you said you knew who I was (which a couple people on here do) but Ive yet to figure out who you are and it bugs me every week lol
  19. Yet I can give you sources for my numbers and all you can do is say "You're wrong" with nothing to back up your argument except your opinion.
  20. Of course Maryville isnt on Alcoa's level... Jk, no I dont see where you got that, it may have just been the way I worded it. I usually put Maryville and Alcoa right at the top of any lists. My percentages are not going to be 100% accurate but I think we all know that Alcoa isnt filled with a crap ton of tuition football players like many want to believe. Here's how even the uneducated can tell (by just doing some research) Alcoa has an enrollment of 513 student. Of those 513 students 308 are on either Free, Low Cost or Reduced Lunch. Do you REALLY think that a student that is in that category is paying to go to school? That leaves up with aprox 205 students. The male to female ratio is 56% Male to 44% female. So technically half of the school is female. You could drop that figure down to 100 students if you wanted (probably isnt an accurate number but I bet not too far off). With that being said, Im sure most Alcoa fans could vouch for many of the names on the Alcoa roster, while I assume Tallent is an Alcoa kid, since as far as I know he's been in the school system for YEARS, many like Tyson, Warren and Isom we obviously know are Alcoa kids. Honestly if Alcoa has 100 players on the roster and you told me more then 10 were OOZ players. Id be completely surprised. Especially if those players actually received any sort of significant playing time.
  21. Anybody can beat anybody if you dont show up. I dont think its the running up the middle that would do the most damage, its running around the corners. Alcoa over all just has waaay to much speed for teams in Tennessee.
  22. If GP has a strong passing game and they and Alcoa do get the chance to meet again, it could be another one of those High scoring games much like the Alcoa-Huntingdon game was in 2004. Alcoa's passing D is very sub par. A lot of fans have the rose colored lenses and say "Oh well nobody passes against us" at the same time though we don't play many passing teams. Scott Co QB had nearly 200yds passing on Alcoa. You could argue that if the kid had some stronger athletes on his team, much like Goodpasture does, they could have done some damage. At the same time I don't think Goodpasture could run the ball very effective on Alcoa and I also don't think they could stop Alcoa's rushing attack. Would personally still give the game to Alcoa myself but not by a margin like previous years. I could see a 10 point spread. Only time will tell though
  23. That's the argument you wanna use? You wanna take the top notch players from 4 schools in a county and pit them against the best? Do people not realize that Alcoa has to share Blount County with 3 other teams as well? One of which being 6a/4a Powerhouse Maryville? Have we forgotten how William Blount always seemed to finish 4th in their region only to seemingly always upset the #1 team in 5a during the first round of the playoffs? Clearly they must have some athletes in that program. Blount County just simply has athletes. Did you know in some places you can sit on your front yard and hear Alcoa games yet be zoned for William Blount? What do you think is cheaper, $100 a week in gas driving across town to school or $500 a year to just go to a school 5 minutes away? It was previously brought up and completely true. My freshman year in HS I was zoned for William Blount yet I lived off Air Base road......5 freaking minutes from Alcoa and completely across town from WB. People act like if we didnt have open enrollment that our athletic programs would equal that of Heritage (sorry Mountaineer fans). That's not true at all. The majority of the athletes that come through Alcoa system LIVE and have always gone to Alcoa schools. Not to break it up into a racially diagram but between 95-100% of your African American Alcoa athletes were born and raised in either the Hall or Old Field communities....Both Alcoa zones. 90% of your white athletes were born and raised in the Springbrook and most recently the Green Meadow communities....both Alcoa Zoned. The last I heard Alcoa's enrollment was around 500 students. Do you really think we have THAT many open enrollment kids that play football? Who are they? The Tyson, Warren, Tallant, Isom etc...Those are Alcoa kids. Then you get mad when Alcoa people get offended by basically calling us cheaters and want us to put our "big boy pants on". Why shouldn't we be offended/upset? 1)We're doing everything COMPLETELY legal and by the books 2)90% or more (probably around 97%) of our team is zoned Alcoa players. You ended one of your last paragraphs with "If you gave a player an option to play for a mediocre program or a 5 star program, which do you think he would choose" Well I dont think there is much of an argument that WB and Heritage arent on the level of Alcoa and Maryville but 1)You never see either of them bitching and 2)There has been some great athletes come out of both schools, in ALL sports that could have went to a "5 star program".
  24. It also needs to be noted, some of you yahoos need to pay serious attention to this part, that Alcoa has ALWAYS had open enrollment. 1999 6-6 team? Yes open enrollment. 2002 team that went 3-7....Yup Open enrollment too. There is also PLENTY of people that go and have gone to Alcoa via tuition that has never put on a Tornado uniform.
