I hope it didnt come off as I was saying GP doesnt play anybody. The certainly have a very good schedule. I was just saying that many believed teams like CAK and Loudon were state championship caliber teams last year. I just thought it would be better to prepare for Alcoa if you played a common team instead of actually playing Alcoa.

Its no secret here how much I despise Goodpasture and everything involved with it but Im not going to go into that and be completely honest. You bring up playing Alcoa in scrimmages and regular season but honestly I think that would be a terrible idea. Just going by the last few State games how do you think the GP kids would have felt going into that game if Alcoa had beaten them by 30 (just using the state scores) a few weeks before? It would be a very hard game to get up for. Instead of trying to go straight to the big dog, maybe GP should take a smaller step. Arguably the top 4 teams in 3a last year were Alcoa, Milan, Loudon and CAK. Why doesnt GP take a shot at a Milan or an Alcoa rival like Loudon or CAK to see where they stand. That way if they and Alcoa do meet in the finals they have a comparable game to look at.

Who would have thought having to play Alcoa and Loudon twice a year was considered ducking competition??

I dont keep up with either school but I could have sworn I heard they were at one time. I very well could be wrong about those two though. Id like to see what Alcoas record all time is when they play a D-II school I know we're something like 10-0 against Webb. 1-1 against Brentwood, 2-0 against McCallie and 1-0 against DCA. So 14-3 all time against D-II...We should stay outta there

If Im not mistaken in the past 10 years Alcoa has smacked around Webb, McCallie, Goodpasture and David Lipscomb. All current or at one time were considered D-II schools.

You know....Private schools in Memphis and Nashville seem so worried about what we're doing. Why is it they never call Alcoa when we're looking for a 10th game and end up bringing in Booker T Washington. Its funny everyone wants to jump on big bad alcoa for "ducking real competition" yet Ive never seen a thread on here in my 9 years that says "Oh ______ private school asked to play Alcoa but they said no"

Of course its a mistake. Maryville played with the best team in the state for 4 quarters. They should be #1 in 6a, #2 in state overall. (Behind Alcoa of course)

My prediction? PAIN!! But seriously......I can see Alcoa using 3 Quarterbacks in this game.

Im not a big fan of newer country music but it wasnt a terrible song. I wish they would have left the NFL stuff out of it though. To me in High School and College its about the love of the game and in the pros its all about the money. Would have given the song a lil more meaning in my opinion. Also I just about crapped when I saw Coach Johnson at BGA! How long has he been there? He was an assistant at Alcoa my Freshman year under Ironside. I dont think he was at Alcoa long but I never knew what happened to him.

Nobody said anything about the 98, 2000 or 2001 teams and they all either played for a State title or made it to the semi finals.

What year is Maryvilles QB? He's a big kid with good size and good fundamentals. Should be another great Reb QB in a long line of great ones.

I honestly believe that the team that does dethrone Alcoa (in region play) will be CAK. Now Im not saying its going to be this year lol but CAK is has been a solid team and I think all Alcoa fans know that this run isnt going to last forever. Also Im not 100% sure if you can voluntarily move up in divisions anymore. I know for years Alcoa played up in 2a so Im not sure where we could be placed. Then again I thought we had about the same enrollment as Catholic and they are 6a and we're 3a so who knows.

I dont see how anyone can ever count Maryville out of anything. I think the 2000 team pretty much showed that as long as they get to the playoffs they're a threat. I do remember many last year saying the Rebels would lose to Catholic and a few others (maybe Farragut and Oak Ridge?). As long as GQ is on the sidelines you can bet money on Maryville and still feel safe in your wager.

Please show me where I "whined" about the refs? Because I stated I dont trust one because if he made a "close call" it could put a game in question (to fans of course) and neither program deserve that? I didnt say he DID make a call last night. Big games deserve outside officials. I dont understand how many times I have to say that for you to understand what Im saying. I can say it slower to you if you like. I think the old football saying goes "You can call a hold on every play if you really want to". As far as the pass interference goes I think its just an opinion play. Some think it was PI some dont. I agreed with the call from my vantage point.

Looked more like an option instead of a toss sweet Im near sighted though LOL You're correct that Goodpasture doesnt want any. I mean they might be the type of team to stand up to any challenge but Alcoa just......words can even describe what they did to them 3 straight years. Alcoa has always had GPs number when they played.

I learned after last year not to bring up names on here haha. Of course that was of a player and I know its frowned upon here and that I was out of line. If there is a private messaging system on here though feel free to drop me a message and I will discuss it in private.
