  1. I would trust the district baseball coaches. They see the teams week in and week out- over a scout that may see a kid a couple of times at most.
  2. It will be Chris Lindsey of Knox West.
  3. Coach Chris Lindsey the current AD @ Knox West Former baseball and basketball coach @ Knox West
  4. oswego, How do you think the News-Sentinel did? Which reporter is your favorite? Who do you think does a good job? When will the all Prepxtra Spring teams be announced?
  5. The Morristown West Trojans think it will be 1 Maryville 2 Central 3 Powell 4 West 5 Halls 6 S-D 7 Clinton 8 Lenior City Trojans vs Maryville on Friday Nov. 24 with the winner going to the Clinic Bowl. GO Trojans !!!!
  6. Are you sure that it was the Central pitcher ??? The Knoxville News Sentinel---gave the Karns pitcher 1,000 K's.
  7. Pearl of Knox West ??? He was the 2nd best player on his own team. They played Mo West - the post player was much better. Knox West finished in the bottom 1/2 of the District.
  8. Sevier County has hired a GREAT new head coach Ken Wright of G-P
  9. Diet Coke aka Lambert's brother in Kentucky- 1 Good to see that you finally learned to type. 2 Figured you would be a Moonshine drinker not Diet Coke. 3 It is Brey not Bray--no one named Lambert can spell. 4 If anyone calls Central for a scouting report--They do the opposite. IrishBB if the post player was not good enough to play for your team must have been a strong group.
  10. Jeremy Parrot of Cherokee coach of the year
  11. My ranking of teams going in : (not a prediction of SUPER 16) 1 McMinn Central 2 Bearden 3 Fulton 4 Cleveland 5 Farragut 6 Webb 7 Anderson County 8 Central
  12. Jefferson County High School has always done a great job of standing behind its coaches. I have been living in Morristown since the early 80's and can not think of a time when our neighbors to the west did not give full support to their coaches. In this day and time that is comendable. Not always the case here in M'town.
  13. BOX SCORES ? BOX SCORES ? BOX SCORES ? Does anyone even have evidence that the Central coach can read??? He was ran out of here (Morristown) after a short stay. The Folks in Jefferson did not take long to grow tired of his ways. His team will not be prepared and will lose big. Is BIGCATT tho only person in Knoxville that has this figured out ????
  14. BULLDOGGED ????? With the exception of Central the Bearden bracket is tough. Anderson County and Clevland can play and are well coached. What is Central thinking playing in the Super 16 ?? The last 2 seasons they are 0 and 3 @ Bearden. The only surprise is that Bearden should open with Central. V -I -C -T -O -R -Y !!!!!!
  15. Any time Central wins a game in a week--it is a great start. By hosting a tournament -the HOME team has all the advantages.
  16. Sharpe-Halls Pearl West Lateaf West Battle Fulton Stanton-Carter White-Bearden Smith Powell Hargis Powell Connor Powell
  17. As I have said on an ealier post. Coach McGinnis will do great things. Saw them play at Mo West over the summer. She is the best coach that Central has had going back to Amy C. Walker.
  18. I agree with Boxout it is good to see the Jefferson County Administration support their coach. As a fan of Morristown West I have always known the Jefferson Administration was strong and did a great job of supporting their coaches. Keep up the good work. This Trojan fan is proud.
  19. The goal of any school or program should be to compete for a championship. It could be a District, Conference (IMAC), Region or State Championship depending on the talent, resources, tradition and recruiting budget at a given school. Difficult to argue with the sucess of Maryville. They are not afraid to schedule powerful programs -played Morristown West (my team) in the regular season a couple of years ago. There responsibility is to compete in championships. Historically the LADY VOLS BASKETBALL team in the interest of helping womens basketball would go anywhere and play any team. That was good for the sport and did help womens college basketball. Much more difficult to raise high school football across the state because of limited media coverage. To my limited knowledge COACHT is the only outlet covering high school sports from Bristol to Memphis. Football interest in Maryville needs no external boast other than the continued success of Alcoa and Maryville and the continued improvement of Heritage and William Blount. It is true that some teams go out and take on teams from outside the region. Many time when a program does that they do not know what they are getting into. You do not know the level of play for an out of stste opponent. What does a victory over Swain County North Carolina mean to the fans of Morristown West. Many fans would prefer a victory over Morristown East, Cherokee or Greenville. Swain has aprogram stronger than many local rivals, but I work and go to church with fans of these rival programs. Would a UT fan cherish a basketball victory over Iowa State or Kentucky. Winning a football game over Boston College or Alabama. Realizing that varsity football games are played on Friday nights- do we want players getting home at 12:30 or 1:00 VS getting home at 3:30 or 4:00. Plus the late night return of fans. Parents of players will travel no matter the distance-but as a fan I would not be able to take off a 1/2 day of work and drive 4 hours to watch a regular season game (Coach Don Woods lead us back to the championship game and I am there.) MARYVILLE @ CENTRAL Maryville does not need to go to Trigg County, Kentucky to face stiff competion or a big game atmosphere. I skipped the Morristown City Chapionship for the first time in over 20 years to watch the game in Fountain City and a LITTON'S burger. BOTTOM LINE Maryville and Coach Quarles have bee so successful that people have having to look awful hard and deep to try to find a bone of contention. The goal of Maryville football is to win championships----end of discucussion.
  20. HALLS HIGH SCHOOL in Knoxville TREY LUCAS starts @ QB on a team that is 4-1 starts @ Catcher on a state title contender starts @ Shooting Guard as a soph, junior and senior a region contender that won over 20 games last year.
  21. Same question as the Maryville Thread. Who at Central has a shot at D-1 ? QB ? RD ? LB ?
  22. CENTRAL is ready to name a coach. Monday or Tuesday of next week.
  23. Coaching is NOT a popularity contest. Leadership means doing and saying things that people do not always want to hear. Great coaches are demanding which means asking people to go beyond what is comfortable. Any long time coach will have players that will run through a wall for them, AND there will be players that had a negative experience. Coach Sharp, Coach Mike Cox, Coach Gaines Cox- or any coach in Knoxville or Morristown or anywhere for that case are somewhere in the middle. Normal average men that neither walk on water nor should they have darts thrown at them on a high school message board. # 2 I doubt and / or hope that any school administrator would not state in an open public meeting the details of a coaching search. I will admit there should not be white smoke burning in the smoke stack at Central High School, but the gerenal community should not know the inter workings of the process. # 3 if there are only 2 canidates for the job what has the community done to scare off canidates. What are the positves and the negatives of the job ? Facilities ? Players ? Relationship with other sports/coaches ? Salary ? Administrative support ? Community support ? Feeder program ? When will the hire to made ? I think the reason that Coach Keith Jones AST. from JCHS pulled his name from the Powell job is that he is a canidate and I hear that there is a top AST. from a very successful high school in Knoxville is a strong canidate (not Farragut nor Bearden but a team in DISTRICT 4)
