  1. Where is Sarah Brewer from and who is Irish 43????
  2. I thought you were not allowed by TSSAA rules to coach a team during the off season with any of your girls on the team..
  3. where were the students from Riverdale last night? They had about the same #'s that the Memphis Northsiade team had in the previous game. Aren't you embarrassed? You only live 5 miles away.
  4. I'm sure Coach EGO would agree that he had nothing to do with the defeat.
  5. FHS will play tomorrow night @ Overton High. Sorry, I'm not sure of the time but I suspect it will be the late game around 8PM. Coach Harrick, where were you tonight????
  6. How will Coach EGO ever explain this?????
  7. I was told both Franklin Head coaches wanted to play as did Coach Hatley, BHS Head Boys coach. Coach Seigenthaler wanted to postpone the game. Maybe some of his players were sick or hurt and he didn't want to face Franklin at less than full strength. FHS beat Independence last week and are playing very well right now. Seig always looks for an angle.
  8. A solid two handed push with arms fully extended by the McGavock player. The outside official was looking directly at the play and never flinched. I think he froze under the pressure. Certainly not the guy you want to go into battle with. Batt was pushed off his feet and slid about 6 feet on the floor. Totally inexcusible no call. # 44 , to his credit made the play, and made the shot. No doubt, two very even teams. Either team could have won. I'm sorry the ref froze up. I guarantee if they play again, McGavock will not be over confident.
  9. District 11 1. Brentwood 2. Hillsboro 3.Franklin 4 thru 7. Independence, Hickman Co. , Centennial, or Ravenwood in some order. 8. Overton ( new coach?? ) 9. Hillsboro, they are better with their new coach but have a long way to go. This is seldom a particularly strong district but I think the separation between the top and the bottom has narrowed and could provide some upsets throughout the season. I hear there have been some transfers at several schools that could change the entire picture. holla back
  10. Having watched many games in this district , I will affirm , Ben Tyree is consistantly the worst official in the district. I don't usually make comments on the officiating because I think it generally balances out. However, in this case I will make an exception. One time it's a touch foul that's called the next time somebody gets the crap knocked out of them and there is no call. I don't care which way you are going to call it just be consistant. Mr. Tyree is clueless and needs to stay at home on game nights. My comment is not based on last nights game , but on watching him for several years call a lot of games.
  11. Brentwood coaches out coached the Franklin coach again! While not having any better athletes, the BHS girls are taught fundamentals and are more disciplined. FHS girls were dead legged most of the second half due to lack of substitutions and BHS running 8 or 9 girls in and out of the game from the beginning. BHS coach was over heard telling his squad to let Franklin run around helter skelter, they would win by maintaining their discipline and fundamental play. He also said his plan was to wear FHS down and continue to keep fresh legs on the floor. Sounds like his plan worked pretty well.
  12. Franklin beat Hillwood High Friday afternoon 81-23. Hillwood really only has one player, #30- The score probably would have been worse if the Hillwood coach hadn't asked the Franklin coach to play a 6 minute 4th quarter with running clock. Franklin had 4 players in double figures and had about 6 more scoring. The next game for Franklin (boys and girls) is in the Dickson County Christmas Tournament on the 29th and 30th. The Lady Rebels start the New Year with Page on the 5th at home Hickman Co on the 6th at HCHS Brentwood on the 9th at BHS Good Luck Lady Rebels!
  13. So who won??? Columbia Central or Coffee County? Both are CC.
  14. The game was ugly from the outset. Franklin was down 20-2 at the start. Final score was actually a 14 point difference not 20 as reported above. Lady Rebels made some points at the end when Hillsboro subs were mopping up. Looked like the FHS girls were very flat at the start and very confused at how their zone was supposed to work. Looks like they need a little more practice on it. Hillsboro was much bigger and could match Franklins quickness out front. They should learn from this. Should be a good opportunity for the Franklin coach to coach them up and make them a better team later in the season.
  15. Everyone should mark this date. The first evidence of whining from the BHS fans. They have benefitted from controlled zoningfor several years because they had 2 major feeder schoools. Now that their the territory has been divided, ( Ravenwood ) they will have to face the problems that rampant growth has created for the other schools in Williamson County. I predict that BHS will face several tough seasons in a variety of sports. It couldn't happen to a better group of front runners. A lesson to all . Be humble in your success. You never know when the world turns upside down and you find yourself on the bottom!!!!
  16. nicholes from FHS is a good player, but not one of the best players in the state. if he is, he makes the big plays against germantown, hunterslane, and brentwood last year. Pat Turner is by far the best receiver in the state with size to kill for. kevin murry from FHS in my opinion is the better player vs nicholes but didn't have the numbers this year. mainly because he wasn't USED, not because he didn't come up with the plays. bell from FHS is the best special teams player i've seen in a long time. himerdinger from BHS is good and he's only a junior. are any of these fhs players being looked at?
  17. Pageman, maybe you should ask coach Barnwell if you can report the girls stats to the Tennessean. Maybe he lost the number. Page-Franklin boys game was reported but the girls numbers are not in the morning paper. Franklin girls are beginning to play very well as a team. It's good to see the progress. Coach Pantall is to be commended on the season to this point. Don't let up.
  18. the lady rebels took the game with a 3-0 victory as they try to defend their state championship in Chatt. Wednesday/Thursday/Saturday of this week! GO REBELS
  19. To sum it up, It was Brentwood's roughness and "on the edge" physical game vs. Franklin superior ball skills and ability. I was concerned Brentwood would not be able to replace their former " hatchet woman " but it seems # 18 has managed to fill her shoes very well. You would think that after a dozen or so calls she should be ejected. She got the yellow in the first half but the ref wouldn't pull the card on her again. Probably afraid she'd beat him up too.
  20. If you will check, both Nichols and Bell also missed passes, in their hands, last week at Henry County. Interestingly, however, they were not shut out of the offense this week. I think the difference is we don't expect Murray to miss anything thrown his way but we know the other receivers have a history of dropping well thrown balls on occasion so we forgive them. I'm not questioning that both players are very good and deserving of their opportunities. I just question why Murray isn't gettting his. I don't think we expect him to have the quick hit break away TD's. He is much more of a possesion reciever. Kevyn's strength has always been on the slants, hitches and curls as well as the fade in the end zone . He must have scored 6 or 8 times last year on that play alone. How many times do you remember him being horizontal going for the ball & comming up with the catch? Thus far this season it has only been thrown in his direction once when the Rebels were in the red zone. The result was a TD. Friday night it looked as though the play was perfectly set up and instead of throwing to Murray , Solima threw it to Bell who was double covered. Just so you know the situation , it was the play that Bell got the unsportsman like call after the whistle and we had to settle for a long field goal attempt. To my recollection most of the balls thrown to him this season have been on fly patterns. This isn't his strength and those patterns are much more favorable for Ryan or Joe. The fly pattern that Ryan caught early Friday night was beautiful and the best catch I have ever seen him make, but if you will remember he dropped a much easier pass later in the game at about the same spot on the field. Please understand , I'm for FHS all the way and I greatly appreciate the wins. I just don't comprehend why you would exclude a talent like Kevyn from your offense. I hope we don't get to Brentwood this October and have go to him to save the game, just as we tried to do last year in the quarter finals. While others were dropping passes and fumbling, he was scrambling and catching anything thrown in his direction. I think an effort to keep his confidence and spirit up should be made.
  21. Is it Coach Nowell or Solima that has decided to completely leave Kevyn Murray out of the offense? He was open several times throughout the night and was only thrown to twice. Both of those passes were out of his reach , even though he is 6'3" and can elevate. He did play very well on defense and made crucial blocks on the 2 big plays of the night. I know there are not enough balls to go around on a team with this many skill players, but after 4 games it seems something isn't right.
  22. If you don't want her, Franklin High School should hire her.
