  1. When things go bad, the easiest thing to do is to start pointing fingers. The worst thing that we can do is to start a bunch of negativity. CherokeeFever01 was exactly right in saying that negativity wears on the kids which affects the team. Everyone needs to stay positive and hopefully we can end the season with 3 straight wins!
  2. With all due respect , the majority of people who have watched the State championship games in the last 10 years have thought the winners from the 4A & 5A games would have been very competitive matchups . I guess since Maryville Is not up to the standards they have set the last 10 yrs this year , It will be very easy for you to come back on here and say I told you so , as far as comparisons go . There have been several years here in East Tennessee where the second best team In 4A ( Central ) would have beat any team In 5A . Just my opinion of course . Not trying to be disrespectful. Yes, I agree that the top teams in 4A were just as good as the top teams in 5A were. I'm talking from top to bottom, 5A was better. Kind of like college football, a lot of people consider the SEC the best conference even though each conference champion can field a team that could beat a many SEC teams. for example.....last year's sugar bowl when utah beat alabama. If McMinn could play Maryville's old schedule they could easily go 9-1 or 8-2 every year instead of fighting tooth and nail trying to make the playoffs in 5A.
  3. With all due respect to maryville's streak and championship history, I do believe that the old 4A classification was weak in comparison to the new 6A alignment that maryville will be facing this year. McMinn is a very respectable team and always steps up to stiffer competition. This will be a great game but to close to call.
  4. Mcminn's quarterback got hurt last week early in the first half and didn't finish the game. Will he be playing this week? Could that factor in to it being a closer game than people think. They have a talented young backup but has been a starting linebacker for most of the season and does not really know the offense well.
  5. How old is the new head coach? What kind of experience does he have as a coach and a player? What does he teach? What teaching slots are going to be open for any additional assistants?
  6. Increasing top end speed is almost impossible. You can increase it a little but it is mostly genetic. What you can increase is your power. This is the first 10 yds to 20 yds of the sprint. Three ways to improve. 1.) Technique- start, stance, running form (need to work with someone who can demonstrate) 2. Flexibility- This is something most people forget about. Partner stretch. A partner will help you stretch futher. To increase speed, you need to sprint often. To get better at something you have to practice at it. Sprint down hill to increase stride length and speed. Sprint uphill to increase power. 3.) Strength- Parallel Squats= Extremely important you get parallel, speed comes from your upper hamstring and glute. The last 2-3 inches of a squat works that area and is very important. Lunges= Works on hamsting strength and flexibility Straight Leg Dead Lifts= Hamsting Flexibility Anymore Questions?

Teaching starts out at around $30,000 Assistant Football Coach $2000 Head Football Coach $3000 I believe they have a quarterback club that also supplements the head coach. I don't know the amount.
  8. The 2a region that meigs, polk, and tellico competed in was much stronger than this 3a region. I believe they will be fine moving up and competing in this region especially against the original teams of this region. Question is, Can anyone compete with Notre Dame and East Ridge?
  9. All you can ask of the players are to get out there and battle with all they got. Sometimes there are teams that are flat out better than you are. They are bigger, stronger, and faster. If the kids play as hard as they can, that's all you can ask of them. To win, you have to believe you can win. If everyone is negative, then that attitude will trickle down to the players. McMinn has made the playoffs for 11 straight years. Not many schools can claim that. If McMinn does not make it this year, life will go on. As long as the player fight till the end and not lay down then that is all you can ask.
  10. I think it all boils down to Tellico's offensive coordinator. The bears played hard but got out coached in the 2nd half. Go Indians!!!!!!
  11. Central is a very improved football team this year. Like McMinn, they have a tough defense, but both struggle to put points on the board offensively. Central had a breakout game offensively Monday night but I wonder how they will bounce back with such a short week of practice. I believe it will be a low scoring game with the tribe on top by 14 points.
  12. Mr. West, there's no way you run a 4.5 and no way Watkins runs a 4.8! Keep dreamin'! And if you keep dreamin' maybe dream up that you have a good football team. Central by 10!!!!!
  13. Farragut by 14 points. McMinn is way down this year!
