  1. I called Coach Shattuck after I read this and he said there is no admission charge for the scrimmage. He said the boosters would be selling concessions but that's all.
  2. Just curious...did the teams participating in this tournament get special permission from the TSSAA to conduct 7 on 7 practices during the month of June, or did they all arrive cold without having practiced since the Spring (as the rules stipulate)?
  3. Thanks Rebel Nation, we're getting there slowly but surely. Thanks for the class act that your program, community, team, and coach continue to be.
  4. While week zero games snag the headlines, there is one more jamboree this Friday night. Oak Ridge, Anderson County, Clinton, & Rhea County will get together for competition at ACHS.
  5. Don't forget, guys, it's just the first week in pads. We're all excited for the real thing but reality dictates the 10 play scrimmage early in camp. Many teams like to have a game situation scrimmage a week before their first game. It would be great to see Coaches Quarles and Stevens work that out!
  6. What about Ron Gray? Anybody heard anything?

    Oak Ridge

I apologize if I got caught up in the process and stated anything out of line while posting here. I know that every Oak Ridger who's taken the time to post here truly cares about the program.......I do as well. I just HATE negativity - especially since it always has a way of getting back to the kids. I do not like the personal attacks and venom that have been aimed toward Coach Gray over the years - they are not deserved. I have the utmost respect for Stanton Stevens as well as Ron Gray - I hope the new head coach is one of these fine gentlemen/educators. I have just as much respect for Mr. Chuck Carringer. Regardless of the choice, my fellow Wildcat fans can be assured that Coach Carringer has kept the best interest of our school and football program as his highest priority. Go 'Cats!!!

    Oak Ridge

Cat- PackScratchWatchLOSERS: Personal vendettas are ugly, especially when they are aired publicly. It's a shame your son/"daughter's" high school football careers didn't live up to the expectations you hoped for, especially after your "careers" fizzled - yes, I know who you are. Ask any current Oak Ridge football player, or any Wildcat from the last 10 years (except for your son/"daughter") who's best suited to be the head coach. To a man, they'll say RON GRAY. If that's not enough, look at the numbers - his offenses have averaged well over 35 points a game over his time as offensive coordinator. Head Coaching experience? Give me a break! If you don't think Gray has a detailed plan as to how to take the 'Cats to consistent glory, then you haven't been by his classroom ANY Saturday or Sunday during the season (as any of his players do) to witness his commitment, work ethic, or dedication. GET A LIFE, you "true Wildcat fans"

Congratulations Coach Quarles and Coach Coatney....... excellence and class.
  10. I've got nothing but respect for both of these fine programs. People can say what they want about Maryville-Central & A-E - Fulton, but anybody who pays attention to past games knows that E-V-E-R-Y time Oak Ridge and D-B play, it's a classic. Great coaches, great players, great fans, great traditions. I'm biased, so I hope the Cats are singin' the fight song come about 9:30. But regardless, I really want to to see the winner make two straight trips to M'boro and bring the gold ball back to East Tennessee.
  11. Year in and year out AC fields competitive teams, regardless of talent (I know what everyone is thinking but GIVE IT A REST). The fact of the matter is that Coach Kerr & Coach Lambert get everything out of the kids they've got. The Dragons have some work to do, but there's a tradition of winning in Clinton that I'm sure the new regime is ready to revive. I hope both teams prosper and that when they meet on the gridiron, the Clinch River runs backwards from the thunder.
  12. I don't know about Clinton other than they were 0'fer last year, but I can tell you this - if they can get Coach Justice its a move in the right direction
