I think someon here my be underestimating a couple of teams: Peabody and Dresden. Peabody has some very good young players and I think after a little transition with a new coach will be much better than most give them credit for so far. Dresden has most of its team back and all the key players are back. they had their chances to beat Humboldt, Camden, and Carver last year. With a years experience they may be able to finish some of those games. This is going to be extremely tough region and whoever makes the playoffs should be playing each other in round 2.

Bailey from Dresden has made 88 3's and is shooting over 40% behind the arc.

Could match it with this one: Bailey---Dresden Perry---Trenton Bobbitt---Trenton Alexander---South Fulton Quinton---Dresden

Terrible tournament? She had 5 in the 1st game and took only a few shots since she was being face guarded, and 9 in the championship game in which she only took 3 shots from the field. Yes, she gets a lot of credit most of it deserved, but Levister and Quinton get a lot of credit too. There are 2 players, Rook and Hughes, that never get any credit but they deserve a lot as well. Region 8A should be a very exciting tournament. Good luck to all teams involved.

Your exactly right about Riggs and Hughes in this game, but that is why the team name is the Dresden Lions, not Bailey, Levister, and Quinton Lions. Someone still had to take care of the ball, set screens and make passes.

Good job, but I do question how after seeing Trenton Peabody beat Dresden the way they did how you can have them ranked behind Gleason and Unaka. I understand the DCA being ahead since they are undefeated, but Trenton is probably the best team in the state. They haven't lost to a single A team this year.

No, it is 2005-2006. Just heard yesterday from some people close to the situation. I've heard that the Trenton duo was giving Union the cold shoulder as well, any truth to that?

Actually, Bethel is going to the Trans South next year!!! They would still have a good team even in that league.

I guess coaches winning 20 plus games a year is not being coached right? Every team she has played on has won at least 20 games. This year they are 23-4 and the season isn't over. I would hate to see what you would say if they had only won like 15 games a couple of years.

shooter20, where did you get your info on the scoring averages for the players from Gleason and Dresden? I looked in the Jackson Sun this morning and it had the top scorers in West TN and this is what it had. For Gleason, Hudson 17.2, Green 9.8, Price 8.6 for a total of 35.6 points per game. These were the only 3 people from Gleason listed. For Dresden, Levister 15.5, Bailey, 14.9, and Quinton 11.7 for a total of 42.1 points per game. Again these were the only people from Dresden listed. So your statement that Hudson, Wiseman, and Green are averaging more than Bailey, Levister, and Quinton is wrong. Both Hudson and Bailey are very good players and and each have different strengths and weaknesses. Most people would love to have either one on their team. Back to the original topic of my post just wondering where you got your info on the scoring averages?

Dresden and Gleason are in west TN and in the same district. Gleason is 19 or 20 and 2. Dresden is 19-4. Dresden is the #1 seed going into the tournament. Both teams are very good.

Clarksburglegend, who are you picking? In another thread you picked Gleason to walk through the tournament and now you say they will lose in the region semi's. Which is it?

Trenton should be ranked #1 or #2 in the state. I think that when they lost 3 in a row everyone seemed to get down on them. They should be ranked very high though.

Where on here does anyone state that Dresden is overlooking Greenfield or anyone else for that matter? I think right now Dresden is worried about Bradford since that game is first and when it is over they better be looking at Greenfield. As someone posted earlier Greenfield is much improved and will be tough for anyone.

Bradford is Thursday, I think it is wrong on the coachT schedule.

I read where Clay had 8 points vs. Huntingdon. Huntingdon won by 14 I think. She will definately make a difference for Lake Co.

Looks like it was another good game. Humboldt by 9. GC seems to really be struggling right now, but the only thing that really matters is how you are playing in Feb. and March. Graves and Hayes are tough and the others must be stepping up for Humboldt and making some plays. Good luck to both teams.

I agree, but in this particular game the other girls that Dresden relies on to score were on the bench in foul trouble. The difference in the game was Trenton's ability to crash the offensive boards. That is where they won it.

realfan04, you are talking out both sides of your mouth. The comment was that Coach Stephenson had done a good job at Dresden. You said he didn't and then went on to say that it is hard to coach a team that peaked in middle school and that he is a pretty good coach. Which is it, Coach Stephenson didn't do a good job or the team peaked before he got them? We all want to know your expert opinion.

I'm not so sure everyone should write off McKenzie. They have played well this year and they are scoring lots of points. It should be a good game.

Dresden played the worst game they have played by far this year. They have scored at least 63 points in every game except this. You are right neither team could hit water if they fell out of a boat. This is Dresden's 3rd game in 4 days all on the road so that might have had something to do with it. As the saying goes, "good teams find a way to win games that they don't play well in." I think that is what Dresden did in this game.

When will the banner hanging ceremony be for that pre season win?

Milan flatt out put a beating on Dresden. I thought a lot of Dresden's players quit for some reason. #6 and #5 ran hard but were getting hit a the LOS. The backs for Milan ran hard and their line was very physical. Milan looks as though everything is coming together for a playoff run. I thought Dresden's kids looked like they are ready for the season to be over, which is a sad thing because someday they will wish they could play just one more game. I don't see Lake Co. beating Union City next year or anytime soon. Lake Co. is much improved don't get me wrong and will only get better but as everyone has said, the difference between 1a and 2a in this area is very large!!! Union City will have more athletes and more depth than anyone they play in 1a year in year out. Besides the last 2 years they have had more in 2a, heck they way they have played some games this year you might say that is still true to a degree. Nothing against any of the 1a teams but anytime a team drops to 1a from 2a you will definately see a team that can be dominate especially if they have had some success in 2a.
