  1. Great post, thebeave. Need more of your type posting on here.
  2. Great job, OC, overcoming the injuries to pull off a big win!
  3. Yes, I'm sure P.A. Pratt spent his week all worried about the drivel that spewed forth from your fingers. Get over yourself. montague1 summed it up well in his above post.
  4. The running game is rolling at McKenzie. That's not good news for 7-1A.
  5. Just caught the end of the game on radio, but Cole had a 73-yard TD reception to put the Mustangs on top 26-22, then picked off a pass to seal it. Pretty good way to finish the game.
  6. Broken bone (ankle, I believe)...out indefinitely.
  7. OTB's Week Three Preview for West Tennessee.
  8. I disagree. If anything, the loss last year coupled with the classification difference will give SS more of a reason to be fully prepared for the game.
  9. Again, book_lover1, you're way underestimating Fayette Academy. I'm afraid you're going to be in for a surprise next Friday night.
  10. Considering the fact that JCS beat South Side last year, I highly doubt the Hawks will come into this game underestimating them.
  11. Haywood is 1-2. Beat Manassas in week zero.
  12. And Fayette-Ware also broke into the top 10. In all, six West Tennessee teams are in the top 10.
  13. Look at the teams Henry County has lost to. Ridgeway and Dickson County are both solid 5A schools, and Henry County played both of them tight. And remember JCM started 0-2 last season as well. That worked out OK in the end.
  14. Man, this kid just cannot avoid the injury bug.
  15. I think you vastly underestimate Fayette Academy.
  16. Anyone who may be attending Crockett/Obion and Haywood/Dyer County games tonight...we need someone to call in updates to 96.5 for our scoreboard show. Please email me at johna@ontheballmag.com if you are interested.
  17. dobber, it hasn't been totally decided at this point. Week two preview for West TN is available.
  18. I know that's got to be the downside to running weekly stats. You can only print what you're sent.
  19. You mean that Wing-T crap that they ran in 2003 when they won the state championship?
  20. So wait a minute. You're telling me that because Lexington beat a 2A team that graduated the majority of its production, that makes them the favorite over a team who barely lost to a 2A school that returns 17 starters and one of the best tailbacks in West TN? And I don't follow the implication that 7-2A coaches voted Humboldt to finish 3rd-4th in the region (depending on the poll) because they take pride in having a tough region. That makes no sense. I don't care what they say about Humboldt...the fact that they consistently picked them as a playoff team tells me that the region coaches see something. Did I say Humboldt was a top team? I don't think I did. I do, however, expect them to be vastly improved over their 2-8 season. They were injury-riddled last year, so badly that they had freshmen and sophomores starting. Show me any team that's going to survive 7-2A with freshmen and sophomores on the field. You're right in that Humboldt hasn't proven anything. Neither has Liberty. Neither has Lexington. No one has proven much of anything at this point. Liberty might win the game. I think they win. I might be wrong. Lexington might win the game. Who knows? This much I do know...Liberty is athletic and big, and I will be surprised if Lexington beats them by double digits.
  21. Someone explain to me why Liberty is an "underdog" here. Pretty much everyone--7-2A coaches included--are high on Humboldt, yet Liberty just about beat them in week one. Don't have the stats in front of me, but I believe Liberty outgained them significantly. Sure, they lost a lot. But so did Lexington. In fact, you could argue that Lexington lost more. Liberty graduated more seniors, but they field a lot of seniors this year as well. From what I understand, Lexington is primarily juniors and sophomores. You also have to remember Liberty is a 3A school with 4A enrollment. Does that mean Liberty wins the game? Nope. But I sure do see a lot of people here writing them off not only in this game but also in the playoff hunt, and I cannot figure out why.
