  1. You folks crack me up, I needed a good laugh today. But to answer some questions. Yes, LaMech Jones (#31) was a junior, but IMO needs to put about 30-40 pounds of weight this off season (was down to 175 for the last game). And Goose will be the leader for next year, but not as QB (again IMO), but as a RB and LB, plus Rudwall needs to step up next year. QB will be a ? next year at this point. Somebody new may step-up there, T.J. Davis and Roberto will be big players from this year's freshmen team, but speed was something lacking from this year's freshmen with those 2 being exceptions. Spring may answer some questions, but too early to tell now.
  2. Georgia used to decide it the same way, at a neutral site. I went to one once and the one who won it was the team that played both quarters (Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe).
  3. ErikG, Got you taken care of. Will trade stats for a good Farragut roster. Also, Todd Agne (UTC's color man, and JR's fill-in when he does TV) will be broadcasting for ESPN 105.1 so if anyone is interested in the other view. (Todd is taking over this week for Randy Smith, who had called the Owls all season)
  4. RedRebels, I have met David (at the 2006 semis at Smyrna) and he is who he say he is. I have helped you out a time or two when Ooltewah played WB, so hopefully you remember who I am. I'll vouch for him, he is meaning well for all of these suggestions. David, I would recommend giving these plans to the members of the Legislative Council and Board of Control from the Murfreesboro area. They can bring it up to the principals, athletic directors, and coaches in the area, their support will be paramount in getting your ideas implemented. I don't think that just giving them to the TSSAA office alone is going to get these changes made, IMO, it's going to have to come from the membership of the TSSAA and get grass roots support first. Just making some suggestions.
  5. Ooltewah can't host McMinn County in the first round in Pod 1 since they are both in the same district. Quarterfinals, maybe, but not the first round.
  6. Indian, Manning is the Owls' #2 QB and #3 RB to answer that question. He did play both positions on Friday night. In regards to using the #3 QB, I don't know why he didn't go in, maybe because of the JV game coming up on Monday, I don't know, just guessing????
  7. How is Soddy-Daisy out of 5-AAA left out instead of Bradley Central? SD is 2-1 in district play versus BC's 2-2 and lost to SD head-to-head?
  8. BBZ, Ooltewah went AAA during the 85-86 school year.
  9. Actually I was going by one of the coaches who was at Cleveland and knew some of the kids, but I won't argue though.
  10. Funny, Walker Valley had a junior and at least 3 sophomores playing tonight, so you can't say that the Mustangs brought a freshman team down for the game. And Phishy, Dayton doesn't have a Dayton Middle School, get your facts straight before bashing me. It's either Rhea Central or Dayton City School. And since you don't know me, I don't follow the middle schools at all. BDO, that was the info I had got from some of my old TFP friends (they do get senile in their old age, especially Ward Gossett, ), so I stand corrected.
  11. Out of District 5, wouldn't Soddy-Daisy be in ahead of Bradley Central since both are 2-1 in the District and the Trojans beat the Bears head-to-head, or isn't head-to-head a tiebreaker anymore?
  12. Phish, Rhea has run the spread as long as Jason Fitzgerald has been on the coaching staff. Chill out Owl fans, I have to work in Dayton. I don't want some foolishness to have an effect on my job, ok?
  13. Sorry bbz, sometimes the whining about the stats gets old, especially when they don't know the stat rules. I have been doing them since I was a sophomore at OHS, so yep, I'm that old. I seen the good (this decade), the bad (all of those 1-9 years), and the ugly (all of those 63-6 beatings Cleveland used to give us) in Ooltewah football. I guess a formal introduction needs to occur next Friday at the Rhea Co. game.
  14. Reed had 2 passes 1 pass in the dirt and the other a duck that the rec was waiting on forever that was called back for some reason, other than that he handed the ball off well. I really find it hard to beleive #4 had that many yards..........he ran well but i didnt think he had that many. I kinda felt sorry for WV to be honest with you and congrats to Mayfield to laying the wood on some kid and sent his helmet a flying!!! I m sure your right on the rushing yards but it didnt seem that much. Do you keep the stats, 2seam? I don't think so. I have been keeping them longer than you have been alive. Officially Brady threw 1 pass, the one that got called back doesn't count. If you want my job, it's all yours. Nobody else has wanted it in my 27 years of doing them. You can start next week, Mr. Know-It-All.
  15. Thanks, heard the report of it on the Red Zone, but few details.
  16. Ooltewah 389 (all on the ground, only attempted 1 pass) to Walker Valley's 65 (-1 yard in the second half) Eric Green 234 yards on 18 carries and Goose Manning 82 on 10 carries (not sure on # of carries, relying on memory)
  17. You must have never dealt with the Athens officials association in ANY sport, ru4mocs. Their reputation proceeds them. That's why Cleveland High School refuses to use them and uses the Chattanooga association in both basketball and football.
  18. First of all, I am an Ooltewah person, but I'm not going to pile on. It's not my style. I will ask questions and try to make reasonable observations, I may not always be right, but I'm trying to go with what I see and hear. If that info is wrong, I apologize in advance. Second, losing to Polk County is not a disgrace. They are currently 3rd in AAA. Coach Davis does a great job over there, they play good, disciplined, hard-nosed football, and don't usually beat themselves. No shame in that. Bradley Central has been improving since Coach Floyd has come there, but the question must be asked of the Bradley County School system of the importance of football. At both Walker Valley and Bradley Central, football takes a back seat to basketball and baseball, with wrestling coming into more prominence at Walker Valley, while it already is outstanding at Bradley Central. Does the school system even care? Back to the game, what happened on the Bradley sideline with the skirmish? Was anyone thrown out of the game?
  19. Thanks for the laughs folks. I needed that. Ooltewah will see Bradley in a couple of weeks.
  20. Any word on Brady's right foot? It was pretty mangled after getting stepped on in the first half on Friday night, and certainly didn't help his passing. (it's his drive foot, so he couldn't fully get into his throws.) I'm not making excuses for him, but giving some facts that explained what happened. Good opportunity for others to get some work this week so they will be ready if needed later on in the season.
  21. If Walker Valley had offensive line problems against Polk (no offense intended Wildcat fans), it's not going to get better next week. Ooltewah's Jacques Smith went off on Maplewood's James Stone (a big-time D1 prospect, who Tennessee, Notre Dame, among others are looking at) tonight for 13 tackles (6 for loss) and 2 sacks tonight. Not looking too good for the Mustang o-line to get better.
  22. Void, It's obvious you don't know me or you wouldn't have to ask me that question.
  23. Ive been quiet on this, but feel it's time to say something. Brady Reed has played well this season, as I have said on other threads, his decision making has been very good this season (no turnovers is testament to that). He has been going through his progressions and has made smart decisions with the ball (hit 7 different receivers on Friday night alone). He has run the ball when he has had to and at the right times (leading rusher for the Owls against the Rebels). Am I ready to say that Brady Reed has been the best quarterback that Ooltewah has had this decade? No, I'm not, but I am going to say that he has improved and is not costing the Owls games that other Owl QBs can't say they have done.
  24. HornedOwl, 2 good posts in a row. I have been impressed with Brady's decision making on what to do with the ball when he decides on what to do with the ball so far. Would I like to see better stats from him? Yes, as would just about everyone else, but the one stat that is important right now is 2 and 0. His stats, as long as he continues to make good decisions with the ball and the o-line gels and improves, will come. I have seen many an Owl QB in my 25+ years of being around the program, and Brady Reed is far from the worst one that we have had by a long shot
  25. What I meant was that none of the Ooltewah turnovers that happened were Brady's. No INT's, no fumbles. As for 2 QB's, I don't know why not. The offense is struggling right now, but to put the blame at the feet of Brady Reed is not the right answer at all, FatSak. If you have a question for me, you know where I sit on Friday nights.
