  1. According to my understanding, the team that is the number 1 seed (1st in the conference) has the choice.
  2. If anyone need any convincing that Burke-Toney needs the turf then they should have been forced to watch the Morristown West-Cherokee game tonight. That field was the worst one I have ever seen. What a disgrace for Hamblen County. Thank God nobody got hurt!
  3. You can look at this issue a couple of different ways. Yes this field wouldn't be cheap, but over the next 20 years it would SAVE Hamblen County a tremendous amount of money. Once it is installed it requires little upkeep. The rumor is that 40-60 K is being spent each year to make the field playable. After that with the amount of play on this field all that money is flushed down the drain by mid-season. Right now there is NO grass between the hashes. This makes for a very dangerous situation for players and officials. It would be a shame for someone to get seriously hurt (which unfortunately is a very real possibility) because the field is in such poor shape. This leaves only 2 solutions. Build a new stadium (which would cost significantly more money than a new field) or put in the turf. Continuing with the current situation is analagous to having a classroom teacher trying to teach a class with 100 kids and no textbook. Something needs to be done, and to me this seems to be the most cost effective and best solution.
  4. Amen, Amen, and Amen to everything said above. The best thing they could do is put the schools back together. However, since that probably won't happen this is the next best thing. About 99% of people in Morristown take this rivalry WAAAY too seriously.
  5. Interesting article in the Citizen Tribune. I hope this works out, the kids deserve it. I hope the link below works. http://www.citizentribune.com/news/index.asp
  6. Every group has their share of loudmouths. However, that doesn't mean everyone that supports a team acts the same way!
  7. This person obviously isn't for the Trojans and he (or she) is trying to stir things up. These type of things happen from time to time.
  8. It should be a great game. The Trojans had better be ready to play.
  9. Morristown West threw for 155 yards last week.
  10. No team gets any respect from the Knoxville media, unless they are from Knoxville or are named Maryville.
  11. playing on the road shouldn't bother Morristown West, due to the fact that they play all of their games on the road.
  12. Morristown West plays about 40-50 players consistently a game.
  13. I would like to think that this thread could stay civil and be about the game. However, I am sure it will deteroriate into the usual pattern of rumors, half-truths, and outright lies that BOTH sides tell about each other on a daily basis. This is a football game people, not the end all be all of western civilization. Hopefully both teams will play a hard, clean game.
  14. Morristown West went 13-1 in 2005 and are 5-0 in 2006. Where are the other 2 losses?
  15. Good point. I hope one day someone will be able to fix this, the kids in Morristown deserve better.
  16. This was their 4th game. They have played in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
  17. The Maryville-Morristown West game had to be dropped because South Doyle and Lenoir City were added to region 3. This gave Maryville 7 region games, plus the 3 Blount County games (WB, Alcoa, and Heritage) which left no room for any other games. I think both sides would have like to have kept playing, it just didn't work out. I think Knox West was a good pick-up for the Trojans. They are as talented as anyone is E. Tennessee. Also, word is Mo. West won't be playing Swain anymore after this year. It will be interesting to see who they pick up.
  18. Yea, not everyone can schedule South Greene and Seymour out of conference. BTW, who was the last team to win a game against Maryville (and played them out of conference until the new region aligment prevented it)?
  19. According to my sources, nobody is bashing him. Everyone that I have talked to has raved about how hard this kid has worked, and what a good attitude he has had in the summer program. It looks as if he will be a great addition at Morristown West. It is hard to tell if this Trojan "Pried" person is really for the team at all. Hopefully both Jeff County and the kid can put the past behind them and move on.
