No problem zing17, I think that the both of these situations got blown completely out of proportion by fans of both schools. Its football and things happen in this game, things that should be left on the field. Obviously, the coaches and players from both teams did so, and from now on, hopefully the fans of both Tribes can do the same and give each other the respect they both deserve.
  2. It was definitely not the case with Lane Corum either. There were many other reasons why he left that program, not that it is my position to speak of them or any other business that is not mine. My guess is that he realized that Heritage has no fan support, community support, faculty support, etc. and ###### doesn't look like anybody there wants to step up and help to change things. Sometimes it can just get real discouraging to a coach when he is the only one who seems to care after he an his players have fought their tail off week in - week out and played many good teams close. Anyways, Lane Corum is a great coach and an even better motivator and wherever he chooses to go will be getting one great addition to a coaching staff who is a defensive mastermind.

    To all DB fans

I hate that this thread and this topic has gone this far. MnMinn County's head coach did shake hands with Coach Clark....he may not have shaken every player's hands, but he did shake the other coach's hand. I think that McMinn County had a lot of class, as did the Indians. As far as the whole punt return incident goes, I was not inside those two players heads, so I don't know if that was intentional, and I will make myself believe that a coach would not encourage something like that, but I think if everyone could handle and forget it just like Steven Moten did, then this thread would have ended a while ago. Granted, there was a lot of trash talking going on here before the game so I can see the hard feelings, but this game ended two weeks ago and it is basketball season in Athens and Kingsport, so why don't everyone be proud of their players and their season, and move on from arguing over points that were blown out of proportion in the first place.
  4. What the kid needs to realize is that there are so many other kids on that team that give it all they have everyday, and would give it all just to be in his shoes. I hate it for him that he made that decision, but quite honestly, the rest of the team doesn't deserve for the credit to go to someone like that. Hopefully he will get his head on straight in the future and make something of himself instead of just another great athlete out of Kingsport to give it all up for the wrong reasons.
  5. You aint lyin T! This is what it's all about. DB vs. Oak Ridge in the quarters....some things never change. Good luck to both teams and a safe trip to all the Wildcats cause I'll be following you down that little trail from Knoxville. I know better than to make a prediction on this one!
  6. I will pray for this kid and then rest of the Tullahoma family. It is always the worst when a life is taken too early. This young man will be in the minds of everyone from Kingsport in the future. If everyone had the heart of young guys like this then the world would be a better place.
  7. DB- 31 McMinn County- 6 Chase Flanary(FB) with runs of 66? and 44? yards.
  8. Last I heard was DB 17 McMinn 6 Oak Ridge 14 Jeff. Co. 3 I can get the DB score from back home at the stadium but I'm really wanting the OR vs. Jeff. game.
  9. DB 17 McMinn 6 Lamon goes up and gets one
  10. TribeFan, Yes, I will be there on Friday. I'll be making the trek from Knoxville the exact same way as I've been doing for the last 2 weeks.
  11. As a former player for DB, the way it feels on the field is something different than you feel at any other high school game. I remember having many of my friends on teams like Oak Ridge and Jeff. County talk to me after games about how it doesn't really even feel like your playing in a high school footbal game, but more like a college atmosphere. They always would talk about how what would throw them off their game is the simple fact that they had never seen anything like it before. One of the best nights as far as atmosphere goes was my senior year in 2000 after we had just beaten Sevier County to take the #1 ranking in the state. That place was packed, even for our standards (my guess is about 9,000-9,500), and believe it or not, the Cats beat us that night. Don't take me the wrong way in saying this McMinn fans, but you won't really understand the hype until you see it and experience it (be in your seat at about 6:15). My guess for this game is about 6,000-7,000 fans if the Cherokees bring a crowd. Best of luck to both teams and most of all, I hope everybody stays healthy and leaves it on the field cause this could be it for all the seniors on both sides. Have a safe trip to the KPT and grab a sweet tea on the way in. Roll Tribe Roll!!!
  12. "Tiger" defintely rings a bell with this guy. None other than Tiger Brooks. Used to love having him on the sidelines during games, especially the big ones. I must say that Mr. "Skunk" was a one of the greats as far as the radio goes, and during my playing days from 1998-2001, my family used to always listen to him because, as my grandmother used to say "he's always positive no matter what," and she couldn't get to games anymore, so he had to bring them to her. GovMan, what are all your DB connections, because you seem to know quite a few of them? Roll Tribe!
  13. GovMan, You definitely have some great DB connections with those two. Nothing has to be said about coach Wilson for all of the accomplishments he has. Definitely a legend. It is funny you say something about Keith Coates. When I was still a little kid dreaming about being an Indian, he lived right down the street from me and was my hero when he played for DB. I believe it actually was the very early 90's, but that is beside the point. It's a small world...Roll Tribe!!!!
  14. I can't believe the silly goose came on here talking this much junk right off the bat and even had it in him to personally call out Dee Peeler. Listen, if anybody on the DB sideline is ready for this one then I'll guarantee you it is him. The kid already knows he made one of the best decisions of his life to become a part of the Tribe. He knows you kids will be gunning for him, but you had better pack a lunch if your gonna take out all 6'2" 225 lbs. of him. We'll see hou tonight silly goose, and you probably should try waiting for a few years of success before the words you will eat later start flying from your mouth. P.S.- We will be serving barbeque grilled crow at the end of the game for people just like you.
  15. Best Team 1. Maryville: Has been for 34? games. 2. MBA: Definitely best private school 3. Cloudland: I really believe this. These country boys are HUGE and Mark Byrd is nasty. Most Underrated Riverdale: You can't count out the Warriors till the end on any year. Upsets just happen, and I'm not sayin anyways cause just as soon as I do then then that's be who the Indians draw in the first round.
  16. Lamon is definitely not out.... Ole J. Fred's gonna be bangin on Friday! Clark won't let them have a bad week of practice, and I'll guarantee you that Coach Vance will tell the D (especially the linebackers) one of his stories and have them so jacked that they won't be able to see straight. My guess is that the skies might be full because of a full-fledged air attack on Friday. I say come out on that Science Hill's Defense that has proven it can stop the run and unleash a passing attack like they've never seen. Not many high school teams can run the gun like that and not too many D's have stopped it. Plus, I think Moten adds another speed dimension at tailback, although the others are definitely good players. There is nothing better to see than Duran wingin' it to the "Man Child" and Darrell "Purple" Hayes. Then slip "Big Red" out from tight end and let him dare one of those safeties to tackle him. I love it when he catches a ball and immediately starts to look up one of those DB's......I don't do this prediction thin, but as you can tell, I feel good this week. Injun's- 24 Toppers- 10
  17. Bud, I'll be joining you at the game this week. Even us boys from way back on the team of 2000 (sorry, don't wanna make you feel like your gettin old too quick) have to come in for this one.....anyways, hope to see you there and catch up some (Great story about Hanna's on the Strip, I mean classic). This game with The Hill has potential to be a great one, as if I haven't endured enough heart failure at 'Bama on Saturday. Section G Row 15 (I think that's right).....look for me.
  18. 2good4nobody, DB had a bad game and still handed it to the Patriots, so don't feed me or anybody else anymore of this junk please. Yes, DB played about as bad as they possibly could have on Friday against Karns, and they got beat in every aspect of the game, but its funny that you come out of the woodwork at just the right time acting like the Indians are 0-8. Remember, all you are doing is digging yourself a bigger hole and making the rest of the Patriot fans look bad. Honestly, I would love to see a Jeff Co. vs. DB rematch as much as anyone right now just to see what you had to say after the game when its basketball season in Dumplin Valley. Yes, I am talking trash before the game, so I (under your definition) must have some mighty big nards.
  19. 2good4u, Man, you look for anything you can find to rail on DB. Bud, this kid has gotten me fired up, enough to make me actually post. (It's been a while) What must be understood is that DB still makes its own destiny in the conference, even with the loss. Jefferson County can only hope DB loses, which says something about the Patriots that a team can get beat by Karns, and still hand it to them on their own field. The Indians obviously went into that game cocky and thinking they couldn't be touched, and they got exactly what they deserved if that was the case. I will guarantee you that after that game, Clark has adjusted every player on the team's head, and if they lose again it will not be because they thought they had the game won. The credit goes to Knox Karns, and they deserve the win for the way they played their hearts out. Basically, what I am saying in this post is that a loss to Karns might have been just what the Indians needed right now. And the other thing is, Jeff County had better keep their minds on getting to a rematch with the Tribe, only to have their hearts broken again. Roll Tribe and keep your heads up, cause you've got 7 more to play!
  20. Where on God's green earth did that comment come from 64TNWater Boy. I don't think I saw any mention of DB at all on this thread. Man, you never cease to amaze me with the shots you take at DB, and for that matter Maryville.
  21. I played in that one Art, and you have no clue the feeling we had as a defense when they went for two. We just knew they'd give it to their huge fullback Kevin Stephens but they tried the bootleg. Bad Choice. Thanks for bringing that one up (for memory's sake). The Indians will be fine without Lamon, but the Smoky Bears get up for this one like no other. My guess is DB-31 SC-24. Gonna be closer than most think, but I hope I'm wrong. Roll Tribe!
