  1. Hate to hear that sportman, but it could have been worse. I'm glad everyone is going to be ok.
  2. Also, for anyone interested, there will be at least 2 tailgates set up. One is more of an actual tailgate and the other is a donation. Mt. Bethlehem Baptist will have hot dogs and hamburgers for anyone that wants to come by just outside the stadium. And Lodge will have a tent inside where they'll take up nonperishable food or take cash donations to help the hungry folks in the area.
  3. Watch out. Someone is trying to rival Sgt. Southtowner. I won't get a chance to say hi at half, but I'll be at the stadium super early if a few folks want to gather around then.
  4. Good extension. It looked like he grew 4 more inches for that one play.
  5. Congrats to him. And I know your proud as well! I liked the bold part from the article: Holden Willis started the scoring for MTSU (1-3) on the Blue Raiders' second drive, catching a pass from Nicholas Vattiato in between zones of the CSU defense along the near sideline, making five Rams miss on his 36-yards after the catch for a 49-yard touchdown catch.
  6. I agree with you that there would be nothing to gain from some of the games. And I know it won't be the same as it was in the old days, but it used to mean something to beat the other teams in the valley. Crowd sizes were insane compared to today. But then that's just it, the gates wouldn't be large like they used to be. No one really travelled when we went to Grundy the last few times. It's been a while since we played Bledsoe, but the crowds were small then. That may be different with them winning more now. But there was a time that you had to get to the stadium extremely early to get a seat if you were playing an old SVC team, even after the SVC disbanded. I guess I would just like it for nostalgic reasons.
  7. Same to yours. It looks like y'all have a chance to finish strong. Your last 4 games look very winnable.
  8. I'm looking forward to it as well. A quality opponent. Reading your messages over the years, I know you are excited. You've been wanting to play us, or at least someone from this area for a while now.
  9. Yet another poll. This one is a combination of multiple computer polls, merged into one, averaged out by the square root of the greatest whole integer, divided by the fraction of the lowest common denominator ... it's a whole lot of technical jargon. Anyway, here it is: 1 Moore Co 2 S Pittsburg 3 Dresden 4 McKenzie 5 Union City 7 Clay Co 8 MASE 9 Gordonsville 10 Coalfield (tie) 10 Collinwood (tie) Since this is from computer polls, it obviously takes into account only the numbers so far. Every computer poll out there has (in my opinion) MASE ranked way too low.
  10. What do you think pegleg? Think we can get anyone to play that soundbite during pregame?
  11. This year the east is down as bad as it has been in years. This Friday will be a good measuring stuck as to where the Pirates truly are.
  12. That he does. I really like how he follows how Vic used to sub. Instead of doing a wholesale swap of players, he does a few at a time. Some of the younger guys get time with the older ones under the lights.
  13. #1 vs #1. This should be a classic and any other week would be the area's game of the week. But this game will be overshadowed by #2 Baylor at #1 McCallie.
  14. We did have some good, friendly battles, lol. Honestly though, when it gets late in the season though, I run out of time. I usually get so busy around the 7th to 8th week of the season (right about now) that I don't have time to really put into trying to break it all down. I figure if I can't finish it, I don't want to start it.
  15. Actually, it began in other states before being adopted by the NFHS and eventually used in Tennessee. Now over half of the country has a form of the mercy rule. Before that, either New Jersey or Connecticut even had a rule that if you won by more than 50 points then the coach received a one game suspension.
  16. If you boys go side saddle, a lot of us are going to cry and cheer at the same time.
  17. Hard to say how this one will go. It will easily be our toughest test of the regular season. Like Pirate2003 said though, this will get both teams ready for the playoffs. It will also show us where we are, as we are now on the backside of the regular season schedule.
  18. Gotta win first downs and not let penalties put us behind the chains. I know that's obvious, but we've created some bad situations for ourselves. Luckily we've been able to get out of a lot of them like you said, but this Friday won't be as kind to us.
  19. Yeah, it's on a different cycle. I think Georgia is as well so that makes it difficult to play teams from either of those two states.
  20. Did he teach that dog his patented nose dive landing?
