They very well could be.
If everyone comes back, then they return 41 players with 13 that will be seniors. This is from a team that was one score away from returning to the championship for the 4th straight season.
I knew Mike from just about the time he and my sister were in elementary school classes together. I've known some of his family even longer than that. He was truly one of a kind. He could have given up a long time ago, even before you became Mrs Pirate Mike, but he didn't. He kept fighting and showed great spirit .... along with great Pirate and Volunteer pride. He loved both teams and woe to anyone that told him that they didn't! 😆 After marrying and having kids, he had even more reason to fight and in doing so he set a great example to those who just think they have problems. He had serious problems his whole life and kept fighting back against it.
Thank you for posting and updating everyone on things since he's been gone. Your family had been in a lot of people prayers for a long time.
True. Generally, if you win more then they will come out more. Lose more and they don't want to be a part of it.
That's not always the case, but it is quite often. Trousdale County had years where they won it all and had small numbers ... and years where they won with larger numbers. But generally kids want to be associated with winning. That is the biggest thing that gets then to come out.
I don't know if he'll leave yet, but even though he's a great coach, he's got an uphill climb at Sale Creek. I hope he can get them turned around, but it will be a tall task. Harriman may be a better fit if he wants to win sooner rather than later.
That would depend on the staff at Midway. As I just posted in another thread, unless the school or county has a rule about it, you don't have to teach there to be the coach. In my opinion though, it does help to have the coach on site.
Do you have to teach there to be the head coach? I know some places have different rules on who can and who cannot be head coach, but per TSSAA rules, you do not.
No open dates. That will be like the old days when you just played straight through. That first Friday will be tough though, knowing everyone else is playing and you have to wait around another week.
Please tell me that he won't "be officially able to accept the job until the new school year starts" but he will be at least working with the team and leading them through workouts.
Because if not, then I guess we're going to be having this conversation again next year. No one, at least no quality candidate, will want to come in that late.
A few things. First, the conversation has been going on for a loooong time. Second, with this cycle's numbers they would be 4A, not 5A. Third, with 10 appearances and 5 titles, I wouldn't call them the new kids on the block. Fourth, nope.
