  1. here is my opinion on several of the last posts that were made. #1: ssssss doesn't have the best argument for jessup. saying he quit cause he wasn't gonna play isn't a good reason. seems he might be a little soft. #2: marco will definately be the best running back playing qb. as far as being a good qb, i don't know how good he will be. #3: kale butler needs to work on his speed and footwork to be successful in coach rice's offense. he has a long summer workout to look forward to if he wants to get to the point he needs to be at to make wayne co successful this year. #4: moore co has said that same statement about being better the next year ever since coach mac left. i'm just not buying it. overall, this region is probably down in talent but should make for an interesting season.
  2. mp is the team to beat. they always had the talent but thankfully for years they had a coach to hide it! he could do less with more than any coach ever. i don't know what the rest of the region is like but i do know that wayne co is in somewhat of a rebuilding year. within 3 years the cats will be champs and run the region for about four years in a row when this years eigth grade class gets in high school. they will probably win a state title in that run also. anyway, mp, wc, and cwood will probably be in the playoffs.
  3. wayne co played union city a better game than grace did but no one there was going to beat uc. they were just playin too hot at the right time. grace beat humbolt who was the 2nd best team from the west so you can't say that the top 6 from the west could have won it. uc was not going to be beat but of the other three teams in the final four, they were all pretty evenly matched in my opinion. depending on which team played the best that day would have been the deciding factor with any on those three teams playing each other.
  4. i'm pretty sure that the wc/peabody game was a pretty good one last year and had wayne co played their best, they would have had a good chance to win. if it weren't for peabody's big man, wayne co would have walked away with that game. we had the better team but couldn't stop the big man. i don't know what game you watched but peabody didn't blow wc away. any time you can make it to the final four 2 years in a row, your prolly doin something right anyway.
  5. union city has scored 70+ in all but three games and wayne co has only scored 70 in only 3 games. these two team's styles are so different that it is hard to compare. with that being said, if wc can slow down the game, we got a chance. if uc pushes the pace, it could be a tough game for the cats. the one thing that both teams have in common is the ability to win. should be a good game.
  6. man that was a great explanation. i have made over 400 posts on coacht in the past, and several of them had been disagreed with. but for the most part, unless i am just making a bias statement, most people understand where i am coming from and agree with me to a certain extent. i would imagine someone with your great knowledge could see my point but i guess not. i mean most areas with that large of a population are at least 3A but uc is in 1A. that totally makes sense. there has to be a reason and i was just wondering why. you answer really cleared that one up for me, "in uc's case, it doesn't have to make sense and you don't need a reason." now i totally understand. to be honest, i haven't kept up with basketball all year and don't really care how anyone besides wayne co does. if west tn is better in basketball this year, i'm not going to lose any sleep over it. i'm not hating on uc nor am i jealous of them because we have not even played you all yet. i am only making a point that the numbers just don't make sense. if hitman13 is a representative of uc, then i now have a better understanding of why no one goes to that school. get a clue......idiot
  7. with over 10,000 people in both cities and both schools being in 1A, either there are about 45 different schools in those cities or both schools are so bad that no one wants to go there. i'm not being a jerk i'm just stating the obvious. wayne co has 3 schools in it (wayne co, collinwood, and clifton) and there are only about 10,000 in the whole county, and wc has pretty high enrollment numbers. other cities around wayne co like savannah and lawrence co are about the size of union city and are both AA or AAA. i'm not sure which one they are but i know they are both higher than 1A. it just doesn't make sense why they have such a small enrollment. if anyone has a reason, please share.
  8. i haven't posted all year and haven't been on here much so this topic has probably been answered before, but how can a place like unoin city, which has between 10,000 and 15,000 people in it, have a high school enrollment small enough to be playing i 1A? seems kinda fishy. good game cats and good luck Friday!
  9. i would love to see mp win but i don't think they will. jo burns is really good and they're playin at home. that 100 mile trip will definately take it's toll on mp. i say jo burns by 2 td's. if mp does pull it out, it will be by one td or less. jo burns is not just great at any position, but they are better than average at every position. they play smart and composed. mp plays a lil' wreckless with lots of talent. we will see which is better this friday....talent of discipline. prediction: jo burns: 42 mp: 28
  10. try rushing for around 2,100 yards and scoring in the mid 20's in td's, returning punts for td's, kick for td's, being your team's best defensive player, covering kick offs and punts and still not gettin any recognition. cj hammack of wayne co did all that and he's not a candidate either. seems to be a little bit too political. just for record, what was the south pitt running back's stats?
  11. ca's defense is soft. they can score a lot of points on offense but i don't think they can score enough to beat jbs. jo burns is too athletic and everyone on the team does their job. they don't overrun or get outran very much. ca will score some points but i don't think they will win. mp better not overlook cwood. i say mp wins that one but i don't think that they can beat jbs either. the thing about highschool kids is that distractions play a big factor in their playing ability. with the discipline of jbs, i see mp having more distractions which will problably make jbs the favorite in that game too. i would love to see ca win over jbs and cwood keep it in the county but i don't think that either of those teams will win. my prediction is: jbs over ca mp over cwood jbs over mp. good luck region 6, everyone who plays jbs will need it!
  12. jo burns 14 wayne co 0 halftime wayne co had the ball on the five yard line with 1.2 sec left in the first half and couldn't get the ball in. the qb bonz duarte broke his leg on the play. sounds like the cats have a lot to overcome in the second half. wayne co goes from being within 7 to still down 14 and no qb to run the offense.
  13. last i heard cj was runnin in the low 3's. lol i think it is always funny to hear people say that crap. one of the fastest players i can remember watching at UT was daunte stallworth and i think he ran a 4.4. 4.7 is good speed for highschool. anything under that is great. cj is fast but he is more quick and elusive than a pure speedster. he can outrun most players he plays against but not everyone. tackling him in open field is another thing though.
  14. i love the statement about both offenses being very explosive. when your a running team and peole think you can score at any time, then you know you have one heck of a back. i think one of wayne co's biggest obstacles will be the 115 mile trip up there. we will have to wait and see if that has any affect but i don't see how it couldn't. if the cats can stay close early, maybe they can get their legs back by half and pull off the upset. although both teams are very explosive, the game rests on weather or not the cats can hold on to the ball. the games that wayne co has lost had a lot to do with turnovers. not to say that we would have won any of those games but every time the cats turn the ball over, the opposition scores. cwood turned two turnovers into td's last week. the cats can not afford more than one turnover. none would be great but that is a stretch. i hate to totally give the cats gameplan away, but i would bet my house on us running the ball.
  15. don't get me wrong, chris wooden was a beast. he was good cause he played like a champion. he was not as athletic as cj. he also had a bigger, faster, and stronger line thank hammack. wooden did not have that many mooves, he was really strong and played with everything he had though. that was what made him so good. but to be honest, when wayne co played dca, dca had the better team but the best runner on the field was wayne co's qb joseph ruddle. if you don't belive me, just go look at the stats from that game. ruddle tore em' up all night. wayne co also had a better running back than wooden in the 90's by the name of brian coggins who won mr football his junior year and played for a year at auburn. he tore his acl playing basketball that never let him get back into swing. so don't think that i am compairing him to crappy backs. i truly think he is that good.
  16. we played against him in the second round last year and hammack is better in my opinion.
  17. hammack deserves 1a mr football because he has 2,000 yards 23 td's plus he plays defense all night, returns kicks, returns punts, covers kicks, and covers punts. basically he is on the field all night. the kid does everything.
  18. i don't know if wayne co will win against jo burns becuase they run an offense that will be hard for wayne co to stop but i guarantee you come friday, your opinoin of cj will be far different. everyone in region 6 thaught that hammack was overated until they played against him. trust me, he's that good. region 6 always has a stable of good runningbacks and to be honest, in my 15 years of watching and playing football, i don't know if i have ever watched a more complete back than cj at the 1A level. that is saying a lot since this region has had two mr football winners since the mid 90's. here is what hammack does for the wildcats.... plays running back all night. is our safety and probably best defensive player. returns punts returns kicks covers kickoffs covers punts the only thing he doesn't do is kick. and believe it or not, that is our weak spot! if he could just do that....lol
  19. collinwood owned the first and third quarter and wayne held the momentum in the second and fourth. the cats and the trojans scored the same amount of td's but wayne co's terrible kicking game cost us the game. collinwood started at the fifty all night also because of our inability to kick the ball deep on kickoff also. hammack ran the ball great and cwood threw and ran pretty effectively. it was a fun game to watch i just hated to see us lose.
  20. cj had around 220 yards last week on 11 carries. we played a weak trinity christian team but he didn't get the ball that much anyway. he's been that good all year. i think he also has at least 20 touchdowns. so maybe you should do the math. anyway, this friday's game is hard to get a read on because both teams have played all of the other region teams and have won and lost the same games. it should be a great game. cwood claims to be the best passing team in the region (i'm not arguing that cause i haven't watched them play) and hammack leads the state in rushing. so basically, these teams are good at what they do but are totally different. these kind of games can be very interesting to try to pick a winner. should be fun to watch.
  21. greenman, wouldn't you think that if the cats threw more it would help cj? we have played against 9 in the box all year and he's still dominated in every game. cj is the best back i have watched play. i wouldn't say that the trojans bringing the house will stop hammack.
  22. what's everyone's prediction of the game? i see the cats coming out on top but it should be a great game. if hammack can get loose early, the cats will dominate. cj has really been playing great all year and i look for him to finish the season up stronger than ever. hammack only likes about 300 yards having 2,000 on the year. i sure would't mind seeing him get to 2,000 friday night! all of region 6 has played both of these teams so everybody give your inside scoop on how you think this game will play out.
  23. cj hammack added another 217 yards last night on just 11 carries. that makes over 1,700 yards for the season. with one more game to go plus at least the first round of the playoffs, 2,000 yards is no stretch. i'm not sure about the numbers, but i wouldn't be surprised if he led the cats in recieving also. he's a player. probably the best back we've ever had.
  24. cj hammack of wayne co is around 100 yards off the single season record at wayne county. if he stays healthy through the next 2 games and the cats make it anywhere in the playoffs, he will probably break 2,000 for the year.
  25. and to think, after all of that talk, cwood has lost to the same teams as wayne co! that's got to hurt your HUGE ego there #84, and if it don't, it should. i'm hoping this will be a reality check for ya but for some reason, i doubt it will be. i sure hope you've came down a notch before the wc/ cwood game because i'm worried that you might hurt yourself if you haven't. i'm not worried about your impressive 140 pound stature hurting one of our guys but i think you have just enough stupidity to hurt yourself. refer to bottom
