  1. Actualy Speedo, Sal SHOULD and probably will be eligble to play if he moves into Harpeth's zone. He is a pretty good player and will help them alot.
  2. This should be one of the best games this season in 3A, but can they top two classic Sycamore/Greenbrier games? On a side note: Cav fans, I know of some Sycamore and possibly other region 5 players going to the game, could they stop by the nascar RV?
  3. From what I've seen out of Greenbrier in 2 games against Sycamore is there is no stopping Herndon. You may slow him down, but not stop him. If you get a solid hit on him he still spins off for 2 or 3 more yards. And if you do concentrate on just him the fullback will rip off a big run. They also have a pretty fast QB who will take off on a big run if his receivers aren't open. If Greenbrier would open up the play book and throw it 10-20 times they have a great shot to beat Crockett. Maybe another screen pass to Herndon that saved them on 4 & 10 against Sycamore in the first OT. If they can get Herndon out of the backfield and throw him the ball..........no one person will tackle him in the open field. Looking forward to a great game.
  4. Sycamore had a great year and lost a heartbreaker last night. They are losing some key players. Both guards, both defensive ends, their best receiver and safety, and a very good TE. All of these people made some big plays. But Sycamore does have most of their offensive weapons and defensive stoppers coming back. Sycamore will have an even better season next year with all of these people coming back. Here are some of their returning starters. -JOSH GARZA-QB (1700 passing, 1100 rushing, 20 total TD's) -MAURICE POLK-RB (1100 yards, 12 TD's and those are pretty good number considering how much Sycamore passes) -MICHAEL BOOKER-LT (6'3 270 gave up very few if any sacks during Garza's 27 pass attempts and always cleared a hole for the runner) -DUSTIN JOHNSON-C (Sycamore was in the shotgun about 350-400 times this year and not ONE bad snap, that's hard to do for a center with someone in your face) -JEM MOORE-MLB/FB (Amazingly strong kid. Was only a sophmore this year and started at MLB the whole year and played alot of fullback. A hard hitter on defense. A hard runner with soft hands out of the backfield on offense.) -KYLE GRAHAM-CB (Only a sophmore and started at CB alot of the year. He's fast and has good hands. Plays RB on offense but might go to WR next year since Sycamore is losing alot of receivers.) -JUSTIN MCCAIN-CB/WR (Had a broken thumb the first few weeks of the season so he coudn't play any receiver. A really fast kid who is always in the right spot on defense and has amazing hands. A very sure tackler.) -JAKE VAUGHN-LB (He is the heart of the defense. Lays some hard hits and makes some great stops. Should be even better next year.) -MIKE KREGER-SS (A great defensive player. Can stop the run, and is never out of position on a pass. A great tackler. -LOGAN MORRIS-DT (6'3 250, a big kid who's got some quickness. Blew up alot of plays in the backfield this year, looking for even more next year.)
  5. What is the deal with a lot of the losing players and coaches complaining about various things? I can understand a little bit, but the amount I have seen is RIDICULOUS. I just read Jackson South Side's interview in The Jackson Sun and several times he says something about the officials not calling holding and that might have cost them the game. Did it ever occur to him the officials had nothing to do with his player fumbling the pass he caught, or the bad decision he made to pass it late in the game. Maybe the officials made him call a second pass (that was intercepted) after he called one the previous play that was nearly intercepted. Did it ever occur to him that what lost them the game was simply Sycamore never gave up and just wanted the win so bad. And also there was a whole thread full of complaintes from Ridgeway(but I don't know anything about that). Losing is part of football and only 1 team is going to be happy at the end of the season, that's just part of it. Stop whining about the officials, the coach, etc. Just except that you lost and work as hard as possible in the off season so it doesn't happen again. Let's try and keep this site full of friendly football talk, not full of bad attitudes, complaints, smack talk, etc.
  6. Asmodeus, why do all of you people constantly talk about Crockett? I have no doubt they are a very good football team, but the more people talk about them the harder it is for them to live up to the hype. Talk is cheap. Everyone talked about how good South Side's defense was and Sycamore put up 37 points and 20 of them in a span of about 7 minutes. Crockett is a good team, but they will have their hands full with Page this week, then either Greenbrier or Sycamore next week.
  7. Yeah, there is no stopping Herndon is there. Even though the last time these 2 teams played herndon had 80 yards on 20 carries.
  8. The person that said Gann will throw for 300 yards tomorrow and win the heisman should never speak another word about football. First of all he wont go D-1 so he has no chance of winning the heisman. second. he passes real good against sycamore. he was um 6-22 for 82 yards, o td', and 2 picks. yeah your right that is a pretty good night
  9. So far this season there's only been 1 team who stopped Garza from running and that was Cheatham. So since he couldn't run he decided to put up 300 yards passing. And it will be a close game, not 28-10. Greenbrier 28 McNairy 10 -Greenbrier is one of the most physical teams around. McNairy likes to run and that could be a problem because Greenbrier has one of the best run stopping defenses in the 3A. Herndon goes for 200. Page 27 Lexington 14 -Page as a very talented secondary which should throw off Lexington's gameplan. Page has to capitalize on the Lexington turnovers to be successful. Sycamore 35 Jackson Southside 24 -The reason I'm givin Sycamore so many points is because I think JSS will have all they want with Sycamore's offense. I don't think SS has had to deal with an offense quite like Sycamore's. If Sycampre doesn't turn the ball over, could be a long night for SS. If Sycamore coughs up the ball alot, could be a long night for them. Should be an excellent game. Marshall 30 Crockett Co. 28 -Marshall has a young defense, but they have an inredibly talented offense. They're also looking to redeem themselves for last years subpar performance. It'll be a shootout at the Alamo. The team with the least mistakes wins.
  10. If I'm not mistaken didn't Garza throw for almost 300 and 3 td's with only 1 pick against Cheatham? If it hadn't been for the defense Sycamore would have beat Cheatham on JUST GARZA'S ARM. And didn't Sycamore beat White House advocate? And oh yeah the Mcnairy game was last year and he has gotten 10 times better. And it's GARZA and POLK. I guess that is that White House education they are teaching you over there!!!
  11. Hey FatCat, you were saying that you would have a tough game against South Side, but they have to play Sycamore first. And Sycamore was a foot short of the #2 seed.
  12. I've heard that Sycamore's cheerleaders aren't going because they have a competition the next day. And because of that there isn't going to be a pep bus. This should not sit well with the football team. If im not mistaken cheerleading evolved from people wanting to cheer on their team, not going to competitions. I understand that's important to them, but the football team's biggest game of the year should also be important to them. I believe they could make both if they really wanted to.
  13. If Crockett and Greenbrier were to meet in the quarterfinals, why would Greenbrier get to host the game?
  14. SShawks, thanks for the info. Here's a little on Sycamore according to The Tennessean. Lookin forward to the great game Friday. RUSHING Maurice Polk 137 car, 1033 yds, 9 td's Josh Garza 112 car, 869 yds, 7 td's Jem Moore 16 car, 114 yds, 3td's PASSING Josh Garza 102-176, 1426 yds, 14 td's, 6 int's Zack Baily 6-12, 64 yards, 1 td RECEIVING Shay Williams 42 rec, 766 yds, 9 td's Zack Baily 18 rec, 227 yds, 2 td's Nathan McVay 16 rec, 212 yds, 1td Maurice Polk 9 rec, 116 yds Daniel Smiley 10 rec, 103 yds, 2td's Jem Moore 4 rec, 28 yds KICKING Justin Billingsley 3-5 FG's, 24-25 xp's Zack Baily 35yds/ punt DEFENSE Alex Aymett 41 tack, 1 int Clark Clements 39 tack Jake Vaughn 39 tack Jem Moore 29 tack Justin McCain 24 tack Mason Johnson 22 tack Shay Williams 18 tack, 2 int Kyle Graham 17 tack Mike Kreger 14 tack, 2 int Logan Morris 11 tack Terry Newman 10 tack
  15. You know, we could all just quit arguing back and forth about which region is better than the other and let the scores friday and in the following weeks decide who the best is.
  16. hey bulldog, sycamore had a winning record this year and had 3 close, tough losses to four very good teams. and a couple of other teams marshall beat werent bad teams.
  17. apsugov, you are badly mistaken if you think elliot is the best qb in the region. im not trying to take anything away from him because he's pretty good, but i just think garza is better. running the ball garza is faster and ive seen him break alot of tackles and lay some massive hits while running with it. passing, hes got pretty good accuracy and arm strength. hes also got a good completion percentage and around 1200 or 1300 yards with 13 TD's. o and someone listed receviers in an earlier post. shay williams has like 600 or 700 yards and and is the leading receiver in 5-3a and in the top 10 in middle tennessee
  18. Hey flanker ..er....I mean clamclam, that was a nice attempt at tryin to combine football and soccer in your last game. To bad that cost ya 15 yards.
  19. Hey Clam, how can you say Sycamore's D is not good. Let's see, they haven't allowed a 100 yard rusher since their first game of the season(rossview) and have held a few of their opponents under 200 yards of TOTAL offense. I believe Sycamore and Cheatham played the same Harpeth team and Cheatham allowed alot more points and yards than Sycamore did. And Cheatham couldn't stop a pass to save their life, too bad for them. And let's look at Sycamore's loses. A tough loss to Rossview but alot of things have changed for their team since then. Then the loss to Page, 6 turnovers didn't help the cause and I doubt Sycamore will have 6 turnovers in many games. Oh, and Page didn't score when they started on their own side of the field. And finally the Greenbrier game. They held one of the best RB's around to around 70 yards. So taking all of this into consideration, Sycamore seems to have an extremely good D. I doubt Cheatham will be able to run the ball very effectively against them, or pass for much. They may have a few big plays, but so will Sycamore. Sycamore by 14
  20. Hey statebound, why don't you shutup and quit giving Cheatham more motivation. You are making the rest of Sycamore look bad, and you better stop before people find out who you are.
  21. Clammy, how can you say you will destroy Cheatham and that Cheatham has to many weapons for Lewis to stop. They've only been a powerhouse for who knows how long. Cheatham hasn't been good since Sycamore opened and Tharp left. Yeah, I'll admit Cheatham is good this year, and it should be a fairly good game. You don't have to come on here saying that you will destroy anybody, because that just makes you look like a fool even if you do win. Maybe you will get lucky and beat Lewis Co Friday, but I doubt it. Lewis by 12
  22. Ya know there was also a game Friday night.
  23. Ok Punter, I'll try to make sure this post is logical. Yes your special teams did a good job of giving Sycamore bad field position all night, and Sycamore's special teams/turnovers let Page start on Sycamore's side of the 50 most of the time. Page never scored when they started on their own side of the 50, and were stopped a couple time when they were on about the Sycamore 30 after a turnover, which I think is a testament to how good Sycamore'es defense played. The longest Page scoring drive was only about 40 yards or a little over that. Now let's talk about penalties. Didn't Sycamore have a touchdown on their first drive because NO ONE was on the receiver, but that got called back. So that could constitute as about a 70 yard penalty because essentially it cost them that many yards. But the story of the night was the turnovers. I would say 1 or 2 of them were caused by the defense, the rest were stupid mistakes or not protecting the ball when they were running. The QB made some dumb decisions to throw off his backfoot, or to try and get rid of it, which as we all know he shouldn't have done. But, I will say Page made a good play when they got to the QB when he was passing and stripped the ball. That was a legitimate turnover. But all of this is irrelavant, the game is over and Page won because they were good enough to capitalize on Sycamore mistakes. Congratulations on the big win, good luck with the rest of your season.
  24. All of you people wishing Greenbrier to "win by a bunch" or "beat sycamore to a pulp" just because of their fans is stupid. The players, coaches, program, administartion cannot stop little (or big for that matter) jerks from acting like that. I agree the fans were pretty bad from what all you say, and that is embarrassing. On another note Jsmack does not attend, play, coach, or teach at Sycamore so please quit calling him out, he won't respond.
  25. I agree that behavior of those fans was very rude and unnecassary, but you can't blame that on the team or the program. They can't stop people from talking or acting like that. The Page fans and players showed class before and after the game. It was a hard fought game, and Page capitalized on Sycamore's mistakes. Good luck to both teams on the rest of their seasons.
