  1. I have to give the bears some congrats on coming out and executing with men on base. That squeeze play was a real tone setter. Great play and a great call. Jeff. Co. didn't play up to our potential and the bears wanted the game more than we seemed to want it. The game next Tuesday should be a good one.
  2. Well the Patriots are ontop of the IMAC by a game and half over Morristown West with a double header on Monday that JC needs to take 1 of 2 to get the automatic region birth. Well the three options for the mound today are Farrar, Denton, or Houseal. Our overall record isn't anything to be admired, but we really have lost lost 5 or 6 games, the other 8 we have given away. We are coming off a big win yesterday at Greenville. So who is going to be on the mound for the Smoky Bears for their trip to Dumplin Valley?
  3. My opinion is that if the pitcher is shown up then he has the right to go up and in and if "accidently" hits the batter then thats alright. I understand that there is a risk to seriously injuring the batter, but if the kid thinks he is so good to show up a pitcher then I am assuming that he is good enough to get out of the way of a "wild" pitch.
  4. When did Greeneville lose to Cherokee? in a double header or in the single game? Other IMAC questions, Jeff. Co. is 8-2, West is 7-3, East is 7-5, Greeneville was 7-3 unless the cherokee game is true then they would be 6-4, Cherokee is 4-6 i think, and Cocke Co. is 1-11. Can anyone confirm these records?
  5. I met Brad Sonner our Freshman year before the high school season started. We were working out at the Yard. Brad was always up for a conversation and was a nice kid. I feel horrible for his family. Prayers from Jeff. Co. go out to his family and the 2 other men in the car. This is truely a tragic loss.
  6. Upper, man it's your fault that you were stupid enough to skip a practice just to make a stupid point and Coach Cox called you on it. You still go to school at Central and should still have some pride in where you are getting an education. You made a choice to skip practice and got the short end of the stick. Life is like that man. So live on and don't start bad mouthing a team that you thought was not good enough for you.
  7. Jeff. Co. played a great game last night against Halls. The Patriots had one error and that was due to lack of communication. Jenkins did a great job throwing strikes and had a no hitter through 3 1/3 maybe. The Pats get back into action against Knox. Central. We get to face off against 2 great coaches that were once on Jeff. Co.'s coaching staff. I would not expect to see the same type of game.

    Bats

I prefer the Easton Company Bats because they seem to last longer than LS bats. I have never seen an Easton bat crack like I've seen 5 GenX1 or GenX1 Deuce bats.
  9. How come Maryville and Oak Ridge both played Double Headers last night? Are there some out of town teams or did teams drop out? Whats the story? Can anyone give me some information on what is going on after pool play is over?
  10. jbrock, Mcminn Central didn't look like a very sound defensively team last night for the first two innings. I know that their stud shortstop is out w/ a pulled hamstring. How long did the starter for Mcminn go? Did Cox's bunch get a lot of unearned runs or were they smacking the ball around the yard? The Halls/Jeff. Co game was pretty exciting. Good Luck tonight against McMinn.
  11. Baseball is a team sport, but just like in any sport you have to make plays. like in basketball you can drain a jumper but you still have 4 other guys with you and usually the play involves everyone from setting screens to skip passes to get the shooter an open shot. Baseball is different that every play except for the 3rd out flyball and solo homerun to make the play so yes it is a complete team sport.
  12. Sounds like to me that someone should score more runs than Walker Valley to win. What classification do they play in and region?
  13. How is the field conditions at Knox. Halls? Does the field drain well or do they have a tarp? Because if the field conditions are like anything like we saw at Bearden in the Oak Ridge classic I'll wear my Under Armour Wet Gear or my rain boots instead of cleats. The Bearden Field is a great field, don't get me wrong, but the rain was too much and the outfield turned into a swamp. Just tryin to find out some field conditions for the game tonight.
  14. Who is taking the mound for Halls? Travis Jenkins has the ball again tonight against the Red Devils. He pitched a great game against them and Tyler Farrar came in and gave some good relief. I hope tonights came will be another thriller.
  15. Man I sure am glad that we are discussing how Jeff. and Sevier Co.'s are doing this year. the Patriots season record could be about 5 games better if little things were done correctly but thats how the cookie crumbles. How is SC's season going?
  16. I believe I was catching that game if it was on Flinchum's field at Patterson's.
  17. A cornfield? what the heck? that complex is the the best site for baseball in the whole southeastern and may east coast to hold a tournament. If it had lights I'd like to play our home games over there b/c depending on the team you're playing you can pick the field you want to play on. That complex has probably seen more college coaches find recruits for their program than any 4 national tournaments put together.
  18. Who do you expect to see taking the ball for Halls on Thursday against Jefferson County in the Beaver Creek Classic? How many games has Lockwood pitched in and his record? How many bombs does he have now?
  19. Not to contradict you, but I would guess there are close to 150 different teams that travel through those gates during the summer. Gerald usually plays 6 weekends in a row and takes 2 off and then plays 4 more after that and then starts his fall tournaments after that.
  20. Do i know you? Did you go to Jeff. Co.?
  21. Hey E.T. I was wanting your opinion on something for this upcoming summer season. If you get the chance in the next couple of days would you email me at camroncrazy710@aol.com thanks I'd appreciate it. Sounds like Rockwood is having another successful season. Congrats on the bomb the other night.

    Catchers-

A key to being a great catcher is having the trust from your hurler that you will get the job done and make them look their best on every outing. If the pitcher has confiedence in the fact that you will block the baseball he won't leave a 1-2 curve up instead of low trying to get that big out in the 7th to win a game. Trust in yourself and trust from your pitchers is a major thing to being a great catcher.

    Catchers-

What seems to be your problem? Are you not getting down quick enough? not getting to one side of the plate or what?
  24. Umm what age group is this? 16, 17, 18 year olds. I guess the guy really had to go.

    Hats

are you talking about the uniforms that are royal blue that have a silky look to them? those uniforms are pretty ugly in my opion. another thing, karns you should wear a yellow undershirt under your blue vest it would look better, if you want to wear blue sleeves go ahead but wear the yellow shirt over the sleeves then the vest b/c thats the whole point of vest is to get 2 different colors in, but that's just my opinion.
