  1. Lamon was an awesome player, I even being from Jeff county will miss seeing him on the field this year, I am glad he won't be playing against us, but not for the reasons at hand. I think if Lamon was not there last year, Jeff county's would have won that game, but not one to live in the past and on what if's. I pray that Lamon will get things straightened out.
  2. First of all, Meodows ran away from Fanney,And if he "Handled" Fanney why did Fanney make all the plays he did. Yes you beat West, But you did not see anyone "Handle" Fanney ! Plus the kid from science hill was a good player, but only on offense. Too slow on defense. I wasn't cutting your precious Fanney, if you read the whole message, not just take part of it out of context, talking about one person's blocking ability, in the assignments Luther had, Fanney was not his assignment most of the time, or any DE, most of his assignments were the tackle, or down field lb, or Safety's. Fanney was good, I say that, otherwise he would not be at Alabama, and I wish him the best of luck, but we are talking about Jeff Co line here in this post.
  3. Parker was a strong point of last years team?? If it wasn't for the athleticism of Brown, Parker would not have been labeled a strong point. Parker through the ball into double and triple coverage, and Brown would just go up and get it. Look at the yards threw to him, and not to anyone else. I am not completely down on Parker, he is a good athlete, a bright athlete, but his arm relied on Brown. Acuff, and the rest of the receivers were thrown to in the single digits on the whole year. The TE was thrown one pass the whole year. So to judge Parker vs Pewitt is not an accurate statement. Pewitt may not have the arm strength, but he has the head for the game and the accuracy. If Bowlin's name buys him the spot, we will be in trouble. He can throw the heck out of the ball, but can't hardly come out from under center with it, or hold on to it long enough to find somone. Not a smart player, to be in a QB position especially with learning a new O. Carson, Chris, and don't forget about Rabbit Lowery, who is tough, Also John Huskey can run the heck out of the ball. Trey Reilford can get some yardage also. So the backfield will be fine, the Offensive line will be strong as long as the starters stay healthy. T/E can catch the ball and get some yac if thrown to him. The Billy did not get a lot of recognition last year as a blocker, due to the offense ran, most of his blocks release, just a touch and go under the scheme. But when he had straight up block patterns, he handled the best of them. Finney from Mtown, the big 6'7" lineman from Science Hill. Green and the rest of the gang will be good. The only question is can Hopkins step up to the plate game in and game out. Defensive side, the line, should be good. DE should go to Luther hands down, should have been there all year last year, and he proved that the last four games. The other DE should go to Marcus, or Red. Both would be a good choice. Interior D line is a toss up, linebackers, Green is tough, our concern again is the pass coverage. Anway enough rambling, you will be surprised by this years group of seniors. They have been a competitive group all the way up, smart good kids, love the game. GO PATRIOTS!
  4. I am a jeff county fan, but Clark from DB, does get the job done, 99% of the time, except when it gets to the end of the season. Meadows is a good coach also. The difference, Clark does establish discipline as far as I can tell, He stood up to Williams, and kept his ground. This is a new year, the kid should be given another chance this year. Meadows had some kids, that acted, like 2 year old tantrums coming off of the field, they weren't even sat down for that game, they were right back in, they had some kids that had some discipline problems that should have sat out the rest of the year, they were back on the team. No discipline is Meadows only downfall. All in all, both coaches are good, meadows does ride the talent train, Jeff had the talent, don't know if meadows was outcoached by Clark, or Clark just had his kids better prepared. The latter, I seem to think.
  5. For one, I hate to disappoint you, but everyone in the Bible Belt, is not a Christian... Christian, means Christ Like, and I do not know anyone who is Christ Like, myself included. But I believe in my heart in Jesus, and that He died on the Cross for my sins, and rose again. That is the only way to heaven. Just going to Church, praying, and calling yourself a Christian does not make you a "Christian" Brands of Religion does not matter, as long as you believe in the one true God. Mohamad, Buddah, etc.. they were all human, they all died, but they all stayed dead. If I were to go to another country, I would not expect them to pray as I do, I would not be offended personally if they prayed to their god, knowing that they were getting nowhere, while they were praying to their god, I would be praying to God. I would witness to them, I would share the One True gospel. It is their choice to accept it or not. God created us with our own choice to choose Him or not. But one day, we will all bow down, and know who is God. Saved and Lost. So, enough preaching, Prayers should be allowed, a moment of silence or even a verbalized prayer. It is what our country was founded on, Freedom of Religion, not freedom from religion. And, one question, why is True Christianity, the only one that is silenced. All other religions, have the freedoms they want.. ??? Satan is walking around like a roaring lion, seeking about whom he may devour... Watch the Passion, see what Jesus Christ did for YOU, see what he did for ME. He laid down his life, the soldiers did not lay him on the cross, Jesus crawled up there on His own...
  6. I know Hutchins, just a typo, saw it after I sent it. I know the program well, just can't type worth a crap. I agree with you, I would like to see Hutchins back also. The boys I know like him and like to play for him, and he at least knows most of the Jr and Sr's there, and that would be a plus coming in, not having to learn who can do what, and who just blows smoke.
  7. Kisabeth may want back in because his political career flopped. Why would Chuck King step down from a college program??? Don Woods, doubtful... Coach Hastings presently at Jeff a possibility, former head succesful, Hutchings would be a good choice, but they didn't choose him before, why now? Hopefully they will put someone in place soon so the boys can focus and move on. A lot of talent still there this year, a good opportunity for somone.
  8. Billy Luther from Jeff County, a heck of a blocker, and has hands if they would throw him the ball.
  9. Hats off to Coach Clark. I am a Jeff Co fan, but that is one thing lacking there is the Discipline, and it peeked throughout the season, and came to a boil the last two games. We had two players in particular, coming off the sideline and throwing 2 year old tantrums, and nothing being done, and they went back into the game. Discipline is #1. Whether the best or the worst player, it needs to be there and be consistent. lamon is a great player, but I admire the coaching staff to make the stand and keep to it. DB has a great program, and a staff like this will keep it going.
  10. from Jefferson County. Aaron Carson R/B L/B Quick on both sides of the ball. all-state potential Billy Luther T/E D/E. Great Blocker, good hands if thrown the ball, and strong on defensive plays and contains well. all-state potential Daniel Green L/B Big, Strong and plays well to the ball. all-state potential Kevin Cline O/L Strong Lineman good blocker. Zach Smiley plays with a lot of heart and quick. Ben Pewitt QB/Safety Smart player, plays positions well
  11. It may be alittle late commenting on this game, but I want to commed the WB team. They showed a lot of class, and heart. After #3 dropped the pass wide open in the end zone, at the end of the half, he was hanging his head pretty low, and understandably, then there came 8 or so WB players running back down the field after most everyone had cleared off, to walk with him and lift him up. That impressed me, too often, and unfortunately on JC as well, they would just kick that man when they are down. Not to take anything away from the WB team, but if the field was dry, I believe it would have been a complete different ball game, I believe JC would have scored at will. But that goes in the if and but section and the best team has to be able to play and win regardless of conditions. WB, again you are a much better team than your record shows. Nothing to hang your head about. I don't know how many you have coming back next year, but I have a new respect for your team and program.
  12. I hear everyone has wiped jeff county off the list next year, losing quite a few seniors, and especially Jeff and Scooter. Yes they will be hard to replace, but they have a lot talent returning. Aaron Carson Billy Luther Daniel Green Zack Smiley Kevin Cline Jason Yeary Justin Blair John Huskey Trey Reliford Chris Shiverdecker
  13. I definitely agree with you our secondary is in desperate need of help. Although, I believe the de's we are playing are giving the qb's too much time to throw. They are playing the weakest guys we have at de, and they chicken fight with the ol. or the secondary needs to go to a zone. We do need help.
  14. Yes the TE Billy dropped the One pass threw to him in the Rhea county game the first game of the year. That was it, not been threw to since. I have seen Billy play for years, and that one drop is not the norm I would have attributed that to first game jitters. He has good hands, and can pick up some yards after also. I don't like to bring up history, but Pewitt and him connected for about 600 yards their freshman season, and I know freshman ball is different than Varsity but probably half of them were yac yards. Acuff can catch, has only had 3 or 4 looks this season. But I am not downing Parker. He is a good QB, and Tyler of course, we all know is an awesome reciever. But to better Parker, he needs to look the field. That is what the scouts will look at, not just total yards, when they watch the film, and see the TE open, and throwing into double and triple coverage, that is questionable.
  15. Parker remain level headed, he does that, but he needs to look at more than one reciever. Look at the stats, all the numbers goes one place. Tyler is good, but there are some other good recievers also, and their TE. Parker looks at one reciever, he does not look over the field, and his durn line is blocking, if you knew the schemes, it is his backs that does not pick up the blocks, or the defense runs a stunt or a blitz, and his main reciever is one of the ones that does not block. he has stated himself, he doesn't like to hit. Even Jennings gave praises to the line to open up his holes for him. Parker has a lot of potential, but I don't believe he will make the next level until he learns to look the field, not one way.
  16. We went through this alot last year. Parker Clement does a good job in my opinion. Do we need another QB? Thats beside the point, do we have another QB is the question. The answer to that is no. Our back up might be able to throw the ball farther but that doesnt mean he has the decision making skills and knowledge of the system that Parker does. Parker is a good QB but the offense doesnt allow him to be the hero, and with a suspect o' line he doesnt ever have time to let someone get open if they down run screens or 5 yard outs. Our secondary is full of great atheletes BUT with the exception of Jeff Jennings they are all offensive players. There were some coverage breakdowns but with a reciever like Williams, the DB air attack will be tuff to stop. A combination of d line push and blitzing coupled with a great secondary is the only thing that can slow them down. Will JC have these things in the playoffs more than they did on Friday? I think with some work they can be, we shall hopefully get to see.... Lawyer, Yes, they did learn a new offense last year, I agree with that, I have known these guys all the way through growing up though, and Parker has always looked for Brown. As far as another QB, Bowlin has the arm, but no leadership. Pewitt, could be a great leader if given the chance. Not saying he is better than Parker, just Parker needs to look at more than one receiver. He doesn't need to be the hero. And th O line, if you knew the plays, with a Wing T, half of your blocks, are designed just brush and go it is designed for speed, on the pass plays, they block pretty well. You are right, the secondary is great athletes, and yes they are offensive players. But it goes back to the comment I made, no one can cover Williams, if the QB is given that much time. They are running the wrong personnel on the Defensive line. Smiley does a great job, especially for his size, but Mason, is holding on to his Dads name, he is not the player his dad was, and never will be. He has the size and strength that should put it there, but it is not inside. No heart. Not to down him, he is a good kid. See it just wasn't DB that has passed on us, if West had a QB that could throw, they would have, Campbell threw all over us. I am saying, we HAVE to pressure the QB.... Science Hill, Bearden will be the toughest games in regular season we have, but even with Cocke County with no wins, they may give us a game, as all great rivalrys do. We have to take one game at a time, adjust and go on. Of course, I am not the coach, never will be, and what I say doesn't matter, just opinion, and knowledge of these guys.
  17. As I stated before, D-B has a great team. A lot of IF's in this game, and it could have gone either way, but the fact is DB went away with the win, Jeff boys, got down, and couldn't pull it back. One thing I see is the players that are on defense. This new Defense Coach, may know his stuff, but he doesn't know these kids. I know almost all these guys, and the most of the ones out on the field were not the ones that you go to in a big game. The DE's are slow, and weak. there are two ends that play on offense, that needed to be in there that they are not getting to play on Defense. DB's QB had way too much time to throw, Big 71, should tear through that line consistently, but he makes one play a game, then you don't see him again. With a reciever like Williams, as awesome as he is, you can't give the QB time to find him. Also, DB marched right down the field passing to their TE, we never see that play anymore, Clement, looks for one reciever, and one only. Gee who do we cover if we are playing against Jeff in a pass route???Now Tyler Brown is a great reciever, not taking anything away from him, but you have to utilize that, and others to be able to make the most of him. Take a note from DB's game, they have the best reciever probably in the country, but they also looked elsewhere. Just frustrated from this game, both teams did play hard. Congrats to DB, and hopefully see ya in the play offs. Maybe we will have made some much needed adjustments by then.
  18. In one sense I agree with you, in another I don't. Some positions are not stat generating, and just a eye catch needs to be done. You must not have kids, or played yourself, to realize the competitiveness, or just been able to pay for college yourself. Some of these players, need help to move on. Noticed by a college may be their only chance.
  19. # 5 and # 87 was being punched at, and did not retaliate other than to protect their quarterback. The zebras let this game get out of control early, when their defense took a obvious elbow to the helmet of JC QB. Then the obvious missed calls, against Mtown on their tying touchdown, the hold that was directly in front of the side judge. Any thing that blew up from this game, should be blamed on the officiating crew. I do not like to blame things on the refs, but this blow up was obvious. In a rival game, things should be called tight, both ways, all game.
  20. Jefferson County vs. Dobyns Bennet game will be an exciting one, with or without Scooter and Carson. JC's defense is tough, but they got some players just playing offense, that would make their defense stifling. Coach Meadows is spreading it out, to keep everyone fresh. And is good in theory, and works in most situations but there are times when the best men need to be on the field. Not to take anything away from Coach M. He knows far more about football than I ever would hope to, as well as his new coaching staff. Dobyns Bennet may come in and take it now, but JC will take it in the playoffs. These players will not be denied.
