  1. I think you mean resent instead of resemble, but my bad backr and congrats on that 69.
  2. There are a ton of professional baseball players, especially pitchers, that play golf regularly. And on top of that there are football and basketball players that play golf. I bet you wouldn't call Emmitt Smith or Charles Barkeley a fruitcake golfer. And as nokona pointed out, catsbackr is definitely not your typical country club member.
  3. Hey PioneerKing, Jake may know a guy who sells them, but he also won one, as did I!
  4. Just to get the facts straight, though apparently it doesn't mean much if Farragut hit 68, Hixson hit 40 homeruns last year not 30.
  5. No, I agree. Sometimes a coach will try to convince a player to change schools but most likely the coach is not paying the players enrollment fees. Private schools will award players scholarships to attend that school. Basically, private schools are more involved in recruiting players than public schools. Just out of curiousity, why did your friend chose Red Bank over Soddy? Finally, East Ridge is basically on the border, and if they do recruit they do a poor job. East Ridge does not benefit from those out of state/area kids like the private schools b/c Baylor would kill East Ridge in just about every sport and they are not contending for state championships every year. And I am not trying to be accuse Baylor of recruiting their entire team or take any of their credit away.
  6. How many of Baylor's players actually grew up in the Chattanooga area and were not recruited from out of the state/area? And Shakin i am not sure what it is that they are that we would want to be.
  7. Hey Nokona, dont you mean you will give it to Ooltewah instead of Soddy.
  8. Wow its amazing how people take things out of context. I never said they couldn't play D1 golf and I knew Fisher had other schools looking at him. I thought it was perfectly clear that I stated he chose Missouri because the coach move, never meant that he couldn't play there. And by the way I have played with Ryne before and when I did, that means just that round TnBball, he was not as spectacular as you make him out to be. And who ARE you TnBball?
  9. Hey Hokie, only a certain few UT fans want another Clausen. I know he suppose to be better than his brothers, but I would rather him be somewhere else. As for Clausen and Riggs, Soddy dont get your hopes up!
  10. James Brannen is a great player, but he won't be starting for UT as freshman. UT carries over 20 golfers, which are more experienced than he is. And Ryne made it at Mizzou mainly because the coach moved.
  11. Hixson has had several commit and several are still being recruited. These are jsut the ones I can remember: 2 in golf, one signed and one still looking at schools 2 in baseball, both signed 2 football, both still looking at schools
  12. Good Call TDCMan. The officials were actually from Chattanooga, Region 3 I think.
  13. Well Sanchez the club championship at the Brook is just as strong as any other Junior event, I mean with Tripp and Derek and Apyan and Lawson and Cothran and plenty more it doesnt get much better.
  14. Plenty, how many did he beat you by? He was hot out there, although he always plays that course great, and I'm not real sure why you even brought that up. But hey i got him back at the Club Championship where I beat him by 12.
  15. I like the idea about region and it could be past, but the State being 3 days wont happen because they dont want us to miss that much school, and they normally cant get courses on the weekends because of revenue issues. The longer the tournament normally the better players prevail, example the A-AA State Tournament because any team can get lucky the first day, and if it was 3 days Hixson would have won by even more. COUGH Last 2 groups by Goodpasture got beat by 17 COUGH, Apyan won SJGT event by 15 shots COUGH, Apyan shot 68 last day at State COUGH, Lawson shot 67 in the final day of a local tournament COUGH, Joe David and friends fired 76-80 the last day COUGH COUGH COUGH! Excuse Me!
  16. Who the heck shot 59, and practice doesnt count. but my understanding is that the all state team is consisted of the top 5 finishers in all three classifications.
  17. I think Harris English needs to be on that list somewhere, and Joe David from Goodpasture.
  18. Well the season is over and it is time to pick the Best of Preps. Who do you think should make the team, and be named the player, coach, and team of the year?
  19. All the results for all classifications, team and individuals, are on the front page of www.tssaa.org
  20. Good job guys, what colleges are Jonathan Hodge and Peter Malnati looking at?
  21. But back to the topic, I think Goodpasture is the team to watch in A-AA because they have just about everybody coming back and they put up a good fight this year to fall just short at the State tourney to Hixson. The A-AA champion Hixson Wildcats are losing their top 4 which include Paul Apyan, individual medalist, Josh Lawson, 3rd place finish, and Jake McClure, District and Region Champion. The only player returning from the 5 that played at state is freshman Jeremy Lawson. Hixson is losing a lot but dont count them out. They have some really strong underclassman and they should still be a strong team to watch out for. They will be back in the spotlight as a State contender again in two years.
  22. Baylor shouldn;t even count because they go out and recruit players, not really fair. If they played with kids from around the Chattanooga area they would get destroyed by Hixson and Soddy Daisy. If they really want to be proud of something, instead of playing public high school teams, go play college teams because they recruit too.
  23. Hixson's Paul Apyan and Josh Lawson led an impressive charge on Wednesday to beat Goodpasture's top 2 by 17 shots! WOW!
