  1. I think this has the potential to be a good game, but I really don't see MBA needing to stray from running the ball if they get any kind of early lead. If Ryan can be competitive early they have shot, but I really don't see them playing well from behind with MBA... I expect a hard-nosed, well fought game from both sides.... but I really expect this one to either be a blowout for MBA or an extremely close win for whoever's on top at the end... MBA got put out of the playoffs in 2006 to a Baylor team they had beaten a week earlier, and if Ryan's going to win I expect it to be pretty similar to that game--but it's going to take a LOT of heart to overcome this red squad in the playoffs
  2. The thing about McCallie's line is that they don't need to be very big. They have this incredibly weird stance... almost like a frog or something, and using some zone protection and quick passes it's really hard to get a good pass rush against them despite their size.
  3. Wow.... this really made me think back to a number of college visits I had (Davidson, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt) in which male tour guides openly said they never even considered the possibility of attending a lot of really good schools because of Title IX casualties. That's ridiculous. Make the sports available to both sexes, but I mean.... lets not be naive. Which programs are bringing in the money?
  4. wait, wait... DII's second rate? I seem to remember a scrimmage early this year in which... oh yeah, MBA whipped Ravenwood. Who was that other team that beat Ravenwood? Oh yeah, BA. Who won the 5A title? OH YEAH! RAVENWOOD.
  5. I didn't mean that the MBA win was guaranteed, just that both had to happen... I see a good matchup in CBHS vs. BA, but a big question is whether or not Tyree is playing. If so, I think BA will keep it close with a couple big plays
  6. I'm an MBA fan, meaning a general disliking of any BA victory in state...but this time I want to see them win because MBA over Baylor + BA over CBHS = MBA as a #2 seed in the playoffs
  7. this is the one and only time you'll hear me say this let's go BA!
  8. nope, I'm saying if CBHS loses to BA, I really don't see MUS losing. My scenario had MUS in first... but the most likely is that none of the top three lose
  9. first of all, give ryan a few more years... the new coach is really rallying those guys second, as others have said ,it's probably 1) Christian Brothers 2) MUS 3) MBA 4) McCallie 5) BA 6) Baylor BUT... if baylor loses to mba and cbhs loses to BA, that puts MBA at #2 and MUS at #1... the same goes for MUS, but I think the most likely change in position could occur there, but for that to happen it would have to be both an MBA win and a CBHS loss.
  10. mccallie's d has been either hit or miss, and their o has been unstoppable. I'd say their offense will slow a little for mba, but it mostly depends on how their d holds up.
  11. Well if that's your argument, the class of 2006 at MBA beat riverdale's class of '06 in freshman football and the class of '07 stomped riverdale at the freshman level. As well, in '03 the JV team beat them. Guess that means MBA is unquestionably better than Riverdale this year (which I don't believe is the case)
  12. year in and year out, it's gotta be MBA-BA this year, I'd really love to see riverdale vs. oak ridge, which hopefully will come up in the playoffs
  13. To be truly successful there needs to be at least a 30-70 mix of the two. That question tends to make me think back to a quote from Bob Beatty (the coach of Louisville Trinity) from back when he had Brian Brohm. He said that there were only... I think three game where he had thrown the ball more than (a very high percent) of the time... they lost all three. Similarly, if you don't throw the ball and you're playing a good team, they can stack against the run. Only in keeping a team off balance by mixing up under tackle and shotgun (utilizing the pass and run out of both) can you expect serious success.
  14. good thing MBA won't be taking FRHS lightly then, better buckle it up
  15. MUS will have a hard time running the ball, but they'll pull through with a solid short-passing game. MUS by 2 TDs
  16. I've seen mention of Rocky, but not Cinderella Man... that was a REALLY good boxing movie, I've gotta say best all time, though.... probably either Hoosiers, Rudy or Remember the Titans
  17. definitely, WITHOUT QUESTION, jacques mcclendon
  18. Manhandled? They beat Ravenwood and Goodpasture in those scrimmages....
  19. That's the best high school team I've ever seen. Period.
  20. MBA v Riverdale or Hillsboro thumb
  21. or if you prefer incredible quality for high-school uniforms, although pretty much copied from OU
  22. a la... Byrnes is coming here and they're a public school...
