  1. Bolivar wins. Coach Rudesill could be elected mayor of Bolivar.
  2. The win over South Side was a big deal to McNairy because they have suffered several close losses this season. They have played some good teams tough this season, but just have not gotten the big victory. Coach Blaine Mahaffey is a very good young coach and when the talent cycle improves at McNairy, you can bet the Bobcats will be hard to handle. It's hard to win a race when you don't have the horses that other teams do. McNairy probably will not beat Lexington in the region, but they got the Big Red's attention last week. If not for a questionable call by a referee that does not know you don't have continuation in high school, the outcome might have been changed.
  3. The Lady Bobcats will play Liberty at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Don't know about the other games.
  4. Coach Russell and Phil Jackson have a lot in common. It is not too hard to win when you have the best players all the time. Bradford has seen more stars come through their program than probably any other school in West Tennessee in recent years. McNairy's Jerry Lott has never had a Miss Basketball finalist and no Div. 1 player in 25 years, but he keeps winning. You give him equal talent and his team would beat any other team in West Tennessee. He is that good.
  5. What about simply moving Humboldt and Trenton into the district that has Trinity and Jackson Christian School in it? That would make each of those two districts have 8 teams each and would seem fair. If you only wanted to move one of the Gibson County schools, you could move Halls into the district that has the three Memphis teams. It just does not seem fair the TSSAA put 10 teams in one region, six in one and five in the other district.
  6. McNairy Central's Blaine Mahaffey is a definite underrated coach. When he gets a really talented team like the Bobcats have put on the floor in the past, McNairy will win big under Mahaffey.
  7. McNairy Central's 2005 schedule A. 26 at Adamsville S. 2 at Fayette-Ware S. 9 at Westview S. 16 South Side S. 23 Hardin Co. S. 30 at Liberty O. 7 at Bolivar O. 14 Lexington O. 21 Chester Co. O. 28 Dyersburg
  8. I have not seen the schedule and game times posted for the Westview Classic. Does anyone have the list of games? McNairy plays Oxford on Friday and Gleason on Saturday, but I don't know the time. Thanks in advance for any help.
  9. Mallory Boehler led MC with 16 points, Kalisha Amos and Eboni Crayton scored 14 points each. Cassie Brewer led Collinwood with 11 points. Collinwood played hard and never gave up against a more talented team. They will beat some teams because they are not a bad team.
  10. I did not mean he was literally dancing. Greg has to sound worried to keep his union dues paid in the coach's association. There is little chance any players cut at JCM, North Side and South Side will make a difference at Madison. Greg's idol in coaching, Joe Bridges, taught him plenty back in the day about how to build up your opponent. Do you think Coach Martin would say 'We can print the district championship shirts now, our district is going to be a piece of cake! Wonder if Adamsville will play any defense this year? I doubt it.
  11. District: 15 Adamsville Jackson Christian (Jackson) Madison Magnet (Jackson) Riverside (Decaturville) Scotts Hill (Reagan) Trinity Christian (Jackson)
  12. Greg Martin is dancing in the streets of Adamsville after seeing his new district. There is not one other team that is normally very good in boys and Adamsville's chief Class A rival, Middleton, is in the Memphis district. Why would they not put Humboldt in Adamsville's district? The teams in District 14 will be unable to play many games outside the district with 10 teams inside their district.
  13. The coaches in Region 6-3A have to be happy to be away from Crockett County. I'm surprised they put Haywood and Crockett in the same region. Dyerburg probably wishes now they were still in 4A because their 3A region is tougher than their old region. McNairy Central probably would be the favorite coming into next season in Region 6 based on what they have returning. Looking at Region 5-3A, it has gotten tougher with the addition of David Lipscomb. It will be interesting to see what the basketball classifications look like later today.

    Bobcats win

There were not many people that believed McNairy would not beat Hardin Co. in Savannah, but they got it done. McNairy's schedule had been weak in the first four games and there were questions about the team, but they came through with a great effort against the Tigers. McNairy QB Blake Browder had an outstanding game with a school record 26 completions on 32 attempts and 242 yards. He and his father, Tommy Browder, had been involved in a wreck last Saturday, so there was a little extra meaning to this victory for their victory. The Bobcats will be an underdog to Crockett Co. this week, but at least Earnest Williams can't play this year.
  15. You show me another regular newspaper, not a tabloid like the New York Post, that has no game story at all on the front page. I have an idea they do it to save time and get that page completed early in the night. I'm guessing the photos were made early in the South Side-JCM game. It is a newspaper and not Sports Illustrated. I know they have a tough job on Friday night, but I just don't agree with the way they lay it out on Saturday. They try hard to cover everyone in their main circulation area. If they only covered the teams in Jackson, I doubt they would sell many papers outside Madison County. A problem with a lot of newspapers is the advertising department dictates what goes on at that paper. I don't think that is the way it should be at all.
