  1. Speaking of Smyrna athletic property being vandalized, when will there be arrests in the incident that happened about 3 months ago that appeared to be a senior prank by their own? Murder cases have been solved faster. When will we see the perps mugshots on the 10 p.m. news and in the DNJ? What seems to be the holdup? you're hangin on to that one with a vengence aren't you. don't want to let that one go. they know who did it. just not enough proof to do anything about it.
  2. don't get your panties in a wad cause your boys are incapable of defeating smyrna in the only sport you truly care about. you have some real hate for smyrna don't you.
  3. i am still purple. i will always be purple and gold at heart. i think bail is a harsh word to use for some of the coaches that left. Coach schrim was from alabama and got a great job at bob jones high school, a very good 6a school, that did just scrimmage blackman (thats how that scrimmage was set up). Coach Wyant, Coach Pip and Coach Carson all got the oppurtunity for job advancement. bail is a very harsh word for these guys that worked extremely hard while they were at smyrna. i haven't posted as often this year because my job moved me out of state. this was the first season in 15 years i did not get to see a smyrna football game.
  4. i do believe ur boys talked about the "future" for years until you finally got the right coach in. there's nothing wrong with optimism.
  5. I am happy that the truth finally came to light for Dakota. A lot of people wanted to crucify this kid before the truth came out. This young man has worked extremely hard to straighten his life out. I'm just surprised the paper had the update in it at all.
  6. sounds like ur a little jealous harris. mid aint goin anywhere. he has it made at smyrna
  7. I have to respectfully disagree with you. i think as a coach in the lower divisions you might coach more sports, but within football itself, the coaching is very similar. I know you will disagree, but we can agree to disagree. you know we have argued many times over the years on here, and i have always wondered who you are, but i have a feeling that we know each other, we just dont realize who each other is on the T.
  8. why would he lose credibility? are you perfect? small school football is completely different from big school. i am happy for the man and excited for him.
  9. why is it amusing? just because someone is "led" to a certain place, doesn't mean that is where they are meant to stay. we have a lot of stops along the journey of life. everything happens for a reason. i find it amusing that some of you are quick to judge. you are never too old to learn something new and grow from it. give the man a break! i actually had heard this rumor a couple of weeks ago. i'm just happy it stayed off the T this long. i'm really surprised by it actually.
  10. i never said the editors apologized. we all know that will not happen. i said the editors and reporters need to be careful not to crucify a kid before all is said and done. when the charges are dropped, u will not see a thing at all in the paper about it. no one will admit that mistakes were made. but thats ok. i have watched the media make mistakes for 30 years and only admit their mistakes a handful of times. i understand no one is perfect, but it is ok to admit you are wrong every now and then. i know for a fact that the charges are going to be dropped. i know that when that officially happens, you will not see it in the papers. the school looked into the facts themselves and made an educated decision about the situation. i wish daktoa the best, and hope that there will be people there to support him along the way.
  11. has anyone read the latest tennessean article on this. they r still trying to crucify this. my question is will the editors be willing to own up to their mistakes when all charges are dropped or will they act like nothing happened. i know for a fact that dakota has recieved an apology from the da. 82cat posted earlier a reference to the duke case. u cant get in a hurry to condemn before all the facts. i know coach williams really well and i know he would never let dakota play if there was any substance at all to the charges. this will only make this young man stronger. he has been fighting the critics for 2 years staying out of trouble and not ending up like his two brothers.
  12. he was the defensive coord for smyrna's 2 state championships. absolutely great defensive coach. major key to why smyrna's D is playing so well. Mid is also a great coach. both of them are vital to smyrna's success.
  13. smyrna might have a young staff in some places but they still ahve two coaches that have won 2 state championships, one of those being the defensive coordinators.
  14. smyrna tried to schedule ooltewah at that time. it was right after their semifinal game but ooltewah didn't want to travel either time. thats when smyrna scheduled brentwood academy.
  15. I forgot about jenkins. Last year the OLB's were called SS's. He is a good player as well but tends to pout when things go bad. Has he really gained that much weight? I never thought he could get up to 210. He has great field speed.
  16. Who is number 4? I dont remeber any sophmores from last year that could be a good OLB this year. Is #15 still nick richardson? if so he is a senior. Deion is absolutley the best athlete smyrna has had in a long time. I know that is a bold prediction, but this kid has all the tools to play at the next level, plus a great attitude and work ethic.
  17. i'm very porud of my dawgs. I haven't been able to see any of their games this year for the first time in about 12 years. Give these kids a chance and they will surprise you. Keep at it dawgs. Its not how you start the season, its how you finish. keep workin hard.
  18. i like the rumors. gray lived in smyrna zone when he started high school. due to various circumstaces, his family moved his sophmore year. Wilks and Johnson both lived in smyrna zone, about 3 miles from the high school. Twon started high school in the smyrna zone and then moved many times during his high school career. dont even try to bring bryson into it. He lives right down from the school too. but by your thinking, i do like having the best athletes in the state of tennessee, no matter where they live. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  19. there is absolutely no relation there. mark coached at blackman for a while but the william's brothers are from shelbyville.
  20. nothing against danny, but there was no way on God's green earth he was gonna replace shad. danny was a good middle school coach. end of story. he was given ample chances to get his act together at smyrna. he hung himself. smyrna will be good for one reason. those kids have bought into the program. no one person can take credit. those kids work hard every day and have earned it.
  21. You might want to check on that impeccable source. Matt left Smyrna on good terms with mr. raikes. raikes knew it was a great opportunity for matt to go and be a coordinator with his brother. it was what was best for matt and his family. if he had left on bad terms as your source says, mr. raikes would have never hired matt. that is from mr raikes himself.
  22. i wouldn't put much into what tiger says. most parents don't have a clue whats happening, especially tiger. the players are on board and the staff is on board.
  23. depends on if elrod will be running the wing t or is he leaving again. Everyone saw that without him your kittie went 2-8 and with the same kids elrod helped them make the quarters. the man is a genius. hope for your'kitties' sake he is back. oh, and for aric's sake i hope he is too.
  24. I wouldn't believe any rumors you hear right now, no matter how reliable your source is. Mr. Raikes is being as tight lipped as possible on this hiring. He is specifically not saying anything to anyone, not even his other administrators.
