  1. Yes, if you go to coachT scoreboard and find the oak ridge/riverdale score there is a link for live audio. It is live broadcast on the Oak Ridge Wildcats network.
  2. Thanks for the price update, I knew I couldn't afford $1,500 p/child, thats why I haven't checked the price lately. Still would love to send them there. Hoping to get annexed or find something in the city.
  3. I would have to look through 43 pages of posts but I believe a SS fan said earlier that they lose students to DB. I believe that means county students going to city school. If that is the definition of open enrollment then, yes, Maryville has that. But with stipulations. There is a five step system for priority to attend Maryville if you live outside the city. The first I believe is that if your parent is a teacher in the system, second is if your parent owns property and pays taxes, and so on. If you are lucky enough to get in from a waiting list of non-residents you then pay tuition to the tune of $1500 p/year. This is because Maryville is graded all A's by the state and is considered one of, if not the top public school in academics. And right now because of current number of students in all the city schools tuition students are next to nothing because of over-crowding. Read the Daily Times last week. The city is looking at spending $45 million dollars over the next several years for building schools just to keep up with the influx of RESIDENTS. I know this personally because I work for the city, live in the county. My oldest daughter is a junior at Maryville only because her mother has legal custody and lives in the city. My oldest son graduated in 1999 under the same circumstances. My younger children, who live with me, attend county schools. I have nothing against the county shcools, would like to see them go to Maryville, but I can't fork out the $3000 a year to do it, even if I had the money being a city employee would only put me 3rd or 4th on the priority scale. All that being said, and this topic definitely doesn't fit the purpose of this forum, it was a great game between to very fine teams. Lets not take anything away from that!!!! Best of Luck SS in the future. GO MARYVILLE REBELS, bring another gold ball home.
  4. Congrats Falcons on another trip to the buro. Seems like we have been seeing alot of you'all lately playing the game just before us on the 1st Saturday in December. According to my math when you put a Falcon playing in between a Tornado on Friday night and Red Rebel on Saturday Afternoon it equals 3 gold balls to E. Tenn.
  5. Congrats to the Tornadoes, lets bring 2 more gold balls back from the Maryville/Alcoa December home for high school football (Murfreesboro). As a former graduate of AHS (Class of 74), I pull for the Tornadoes every week, well except the first game vs. Maryville. Hey, I have worked for Maryville PD for 26 years and I know where my check comes from, LOL. Best of Luck TORNADOES!!!! P.S. Falcons, bring another back with you'all and show them again this area has the best football in the state!!
  6. There is always talk about him leaving, going to coach college, etc. Last year he was courted by Brentwood Academy. I believe a couple years ago a D2 NCAA college showed interest. When he was contacted by Brentwood he said, and this is not a exact quote: Me and my family love it here in Maryville, great place to raise a family. Besides, if we move we would have to buy Jack (his young son) a whole new wardrobe (all his clothes say Maryville or Rebels) LOL He also said he has the best assistants anywhere to work with and credits them with alot of the success. This year he was made Athletic Director at the school. This being said, no he doesn't walk on water, but he is man of high morals, excellent raising, and a model for all persons, not just coaches, to follow who work with our youth on a daily basis. WE ARE VERY, VERY LUCKY TO HAVE HIM AND HIS ASSISTANTS!!
  7. Got back a little while ago from working the other defending state champion Maryville Rebel ball game. By the way MHS won both games, men and womens, against Farragut. I was talking with Douglas's parents and he was missing from the student cheering section tonite. He is at home with Strep Throat. Missed practice today and will most likely miss atleast Wednesday. Best of luck to him, they say he should be fine by Friday, maybe not 100% though. P.S. Thanks Coach T for making this forum a discussion among true sports fans again. When I left for the game it was getting ugly.
  8. Thanks for the kind word RED REBELS, I usually just like to sit back and read these posts. I enjoy the comments, predictions, and the ocassional ribbing that goes on, (even if most of that is targeted toward Maryville). The last part is especially enjoyable around 10:00pm on Fridays (and for several first Saturdays in December) when the final seconds tick off the clock. Agree with your prediction, look foward to a good game. As to the "Black-Out" this Friday, I have got every one beat on that one. I been wearing my MPD Black Uniform and hat every Friday night at home games for the last 25 years, LOL
  9. Have to go with matback on this one. Even though the numbers were interesting, anything can happen on any Friday night. But I believe this one will go Maryville Rebels way with the final margin determined by how soon Maryville pulls the starters versus how long Knox West leaves thiers in. GQ has never tried to run up a score, and knowing him personally he never would. He respects the other coaches and PLAYERS to much. Yes, the REBS could have scored many more points this year, but choose to let the back-ups gain valuable playing time and rewarding them for the hard work they put in every week to get the WHOLE team ready. With this said GO REBELS !!!!(MARYVILLE)
  10. 12. Maryville School Policy prohibits any flags on poles. The flag itself is okay, but it can not be on a pole, stick, etc. You will see Rebel flags being worn by MHS students as capes, etc., but they will not be on poles. Also no air horns, etc. are allowed in stadium. There is a sign posted at each gate listing prohibited items. Hope this helps. If you bring something that is not allowed myself, or one of my associates (aka MPD officers) will politely inform you it is not allowed. Have a safe trip down. P.S. Found one other problem with your post. Your prediction is off. MHS REBELS 38 MO. WEST 20
  13. Also Burnette is only playing about 1 to 1 1/2 quarters a game. He shares the quarterbacking with Hunt (senior), and in most games they only play one or two series in the second half before the reserves take over. If he was the primary quarterback and play an entire game it would be scary what his numbers would be. P.S. Hunt's numbers are very good also. Player g cmp/att pct yds avg td lng int B. Burnette 10 63/86 0.73 1243 19.73 11 54 2 D. Hunt 10 37/46 0.80 569 15.38 8 90 0 Combined ratings: NFL 150 NCAA 342
  14. No way it would be more than 60 point difference. Coach Q would have 3rd and 4th string in once the gap is 24 or better. He has never and would never run a score up. Check the games this year, in several the 2nd and 3rd strings got more playing time than the starters. My pick is Rebels by 28, 1st string see 1 or 2 series in the 3rd quarter. Go Rebels.
  15. Congrats to not only a great coach, but also a fine gentleman and strong family man. I have had the pleasure of providing police services by working the home games and privilege of escorting the teams to playoffs and Murfeesboro. Watch him both on and off the field and you can see why he is a credit to MHS, City of Maryville, and Tennessee Secondary School Athletics. He also has a staff that has the same values and beliefs. I also have had the pleasure to speak with his father after almost every game and it is clear to see that those qualities were instilled in GQ growing up. Congrats again !!!
  16. “When the moon is in the Seventh House (1) and Jupiter aligns with Mars Then peace will guide the planets (2) And love will steer the stars” AGE OF AQUARIUS For those who don't know, this was a hit song (and dream) several years ago. (1) Chances of WB beating Maryville (2) WB taking down the goal posts Everybody would like to think that there will be World Peace, but in reality it isn't gonna happen anytime soon. Never say never, but with the cloud cover Friday night WB isn't gonna see the MOON, SEVENTH HOUSE, JUPITER, or MARS. Course they may see some "STARS" Gonna be a great game between the current TOP team in Tennessee and a team that is on the rise. Who knows maybe in a few years there will be world peace. Also myself and the men in BLUE will not let the goal posts come down this Friday.
  17. I have read all the posts since the end of the game. Good points were made by fans and followers of both shools. And IMO it was one of best games I seen in High School in recent years. One thing that has not been mentioned yet is that the final difference in score was 3 points, a field goal. I was on the sideline in the corner of the end when he kicked it 47 yards. It would have been easily good from 55+ yards. If Taka isn't a D1 kicker, then there isn't one in Tennessee or anywhere else for that matter. If I was a recruiter I would be "kicking" down HIS door trying to get him at my college. Field position is critical and when your a kick returner and all you see is the football going over head into the endzone it kind of deflates any momentum you can build to start a drive. Enough about Taka, his foot speaks for him more than anyone could. Another thing I would like to mention. I will probably get alot of flak over this but I am one of the police officers who has worked MHS games for many years. As a matter of fact for the last 25 years. (My nickname at the school is Father Time). I am also a 74 graduate of Alcoa High School. Trust me I have seen much worse actions by students in those years. Last night when the students ran across the field and held up flags and the racoon Myself, other officers, and school officials immediately turned the students around. Enough about that to. Both schools should be proud of thier football programs, They are two of the bests, more likely THE two best in Tennessee.
  18. Will be there, GO REBELS, Wildcats, and Tornados !!!!!!!!!
  19. Talked to him on the sideline, he was in low spirits. Thought it might have been worse, he was just upset he wasn't on the field. Looks like a mild sprain or twist. Should be close to or at 100% next week. Besides, I would take a Tallent and Tank at 60-70% over most other backs. They play with god-given tallent, heart, and the best coaching staff in TENNESSEE.
  20. Your right, Warren also is a "star" on the basketball team. This could be bigger than we know, have to wait and see what TSSAA does.
  21. If he was ejected his career is over. TSSAA says 1 game for ejection, more severe for a 2nd ejection. More severe has to be atleast two games. They only have 2 left at the most. Following is from TSSAA By-Laws and Regulations B. On the ejection of a student athlete, the school will be required to submit a report on the action of the player and any disciplinary action taken by the school. The minimum penalty will be the suspension of the student athlete from participation in the next contest(s) at the level of competition for the specified number of contests played during a week in the particular sport (one game in soccer and football, two contests in all other sports). In addition, the student athlete is also suspended from participation in the same number of contest(s) at any other level of competition in the same sport. C. In addition to what is presently required when a player is ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct, a meeting shall be held with the player, coach, principal, and parent(s) or guardian(s) with a report on the meeting and plans to directly address the matter to be filed with the state office. D. If a player is ejected for a second time for unsportsmanlike conduct, a more severe punishment shall be imposed. E. Other non-monetary penalties may be assessed by the Executive Director based on all the facts. Page 21 August 11, 2005
