Maryville's 2nd team is better than Powell's, so I'll say Powell-35, Carter-7. ALSO, to the Carter fans. Your QB has racked up those yards and stats on crappy teams. How many passing yards did he have against Maryville? The only reason Cade isn't number one is because every game we blew the team out, he had to come out. Your QB gets almost every snap of the game.

Wow they have more people playing D1 from there school than Maryville. That means what to me or anyone else. Think about how much more heart and better coaching Maryville has then Melrose, Tn High, White House, or any team in the state. If were are whooping all these teams and winning state almost every year it just shows what we do with the less athletic students. What if we had the tallent and athletes that Riverdale, Oak Ridge, and Melrose have? We could probably beat De Le Salle in California. So what if you have more people playing D1 then us? How many state titles have you even COMPETED for? Ya'll can't even make it to the boro with all this tallent you have. If Melrose could make it to a state championship you might get a chance to see Maryville play. Or if Melrose COULD ever make it to a championship, us Maryville fans could see Melrose play. But, since Melrose doesn't and never will make it to the boro, we may never know. Unless of course this year they can pull their skirts up and make it past the semis.

chris is always WAY off. In 3A he has Fulton at #1. In his 4A predictions he has Maryville tied with Sullivan East and White House. There is no one in 4A that can tie with Maryville except for MAYBE just maybe but highly unlikely, Melrose. Chris didn't even have Melrose on his list.

Jon Lawhon, Matt Valentine, Jeffrey Smith, and Gary Tucker all took Dustin Lindsey down at the Maryville-Alcoa game. **Ryan Tallent is hard to bring down. Also Adrian Baker. Just ask Powell or number 10 for Powell about Tallent. Tallent ran him over twice. The first time it just stunned him a little bit. The second time, he left the game with a head injury.

I do agree that Riverdale is hands down the best in 5A. But they aren't what the Riverdale fans are making them out to be. These guys are making it seems like you are playing the Oklahoma Sooners when you are really playing Riverdale. How does anyone on here know that Oak Ridge, DB, Maryville, Melrose, or even Heritage couldn't beat Riverdale? Anything can happen in a HS football game.

Also, Farragut fans need to relax. This is the first time in forever they have been in the top 10 polls. They newspapers and polls, VolTimesSportsEditor, are making you out to be better than you are. You have played all crappy teams. Your hardest game was probably an 0-6 William Blount. You can continue with your ego's, but when Oak Ridge and Soddy Daisy roll around, they'll toot your horn! What Farragut needs to realize is that they almost lost to Heritage. Who has managed to win 3 games in like 5 years. They stink. Farragut is good at best. How can you say that you can beat Riverdale when you almost lost to Heritage. Lol that tickles me....

Yes, Lawhon is deff. the biggest loss for Maryville. I wish Parnell would heal up because his senior leadership will be needed in the linebacking corps as there are no seniors. Matt Vallentine must continue to play well. Tanner Caylor, though, will do fine. Mark those words because I believe the kid will turn some heads. He is downright crazy. He is good too, but the crazyiness he has will lead to some injurys and stuffed runs. At the Heritage JV game, he hit some poor kid from Heritage and the kid's helmet just split in half. Katlin Kimsey impresses me, but he is no Lawhon that's for sure.

Lawhon is very tough. In fact, you all just don't know how tough. He was at my fall baseball game last night and I was talking to him and he said that he knew he tore it but he stayed out there for the remainder of that series

Everyone says that West and Middle Tennessee is better than East. But this time you all are wrong. We could have a champion from EAST TENNESSEE in each classification. These are: 1A- Boyd B. 2A- Alcoa 3A- Austin-East 4A- Maryville or Central (probably Maryville) 5A- Dobyns B. Sorry west, we might have ya this year!

1. Maryville-4A-(7-0) Too strong for anyone except maybe Riverdale. Best coaching staff in the state. Cade Thompson, QB, has only lost 2 games in 4 years at QB! Coach Quarles has only lost 7 or 8 and won 70 in 8 years at Maryville. Riverdale is probably the only team in the state that can stop us this year. 2. Riverdale-5A-(7-0) Too strong for everyone else besides Maryville. Great coaching and athletes. Unless a miracle, they will bring home the gold in 5A. 3. Kingsport DB-5A-(6-0) Don't know much about them except they are good every year and are deff. good this year. 4. Melrose-4A-(6-0) Great Athletes. Fans say they would kill Maryville. If they are good enough to make it to the boro, they will see just how wrong they were. 5. Oak Ridge-5A-(5-1) Very good team. Only loss to DB. Great Coaching. 6. Ootelwah-5A-(6-0) 7. If they played teams like Halls, Carter, and Morristown West, they would win. They are playing teams like Maryville, Soddy Daisy, and Oak Ridge. Maryville were up on them 45-0 at the half.
