  1. Thank you starman. Roll Tribe Roll
  2. Dobyns-Bennett is playing the two time defending state champion...the 13th ranked team in the country...uh, I'd say D-B is the biggest underdog Roll Tribe Roll
  3. Thank you for the info, lesbearcat...I was real focused on our game. Roll Tribe Roll
  4. Check out today's Johnson City Press and their All Northeast Tennessee Team...all classifications...Odem player of the year, Morgan Coach of the year, Harrison 1st team, Throp defensive player of the year. They have a first and second team. Roll Tribe Roll
  5. Thank you Rolltribe 54 You going to Murfreesboro? Roll Tribe Roll
  6. debo and john mark, you both need to reread WaCo's post and then please hush. You both keep talking smack when none is needed...White Station is a great team, they lost twice all year and Bradley Central is one of their loses...Bradley has since lost a key cog in their wheel, but, are still an outstanding team. Talking smack is not going to garner any respect for the Indians and will only breed distain. The D-B players deserve more respect from you than you are showing. The players have respect for their opponents; that is how you prepare for the contest, know your opponent, respect their skills, attack their weaknesses, accentuate your strengths, give your best effort. The age references only give pause to the fact that, due to your deficiency of years, a lack of respect is abounding. Not a positive trait. I have seen White Station play three games, thought their win over Elizabethton @ Arby's was the most completely perfect high school game I have ever seen. Please speak positive about your team, not negative about your opponent, it's a lousy sales tactic...stop calling names...WaCo is a D-B guy. Roll Tribe Roll
  7. I care about all the East Tennessee teams. Roll Tribe Roll
  8. Shipley's a good, good friend and a very good man. He's a heck of a coach, too. So don't you worry. Roll Tribe Roll
  9. D-B's freshmen played without Reid Powell, Josef Throp, and Coty Sensabaugh in the tournament final...they played the entire year without Reid, played with Josef for only 5 or 6 games (he was also playing varsity until he broken his foot) he played predominately on the jv...Coty was the leading scorer for the D-B freshmen and was moved exclusively to the jv late in the season...none of these three played at all in the freshmen tourney...but, hey, just keep talking - all three of them will be on the floor next year with the rest of the Tribe Roll Tribe Roll
  10. WaCo, I had a long talk with Coach Moricle tonight at the game about the bracket situation and in the past, the bracket would have been drawn at the Garden Plaza in Murfreesboro (no longer a Garden PLaza, but I don't remember who bought them) with all the coaches present...special event, special extra trip to Murfreesboro (I went with Coach Shipley and Coach Adams and got blizzarded in back in '93)...another story for another day...BUT, evidently TSSAA now has predrawn the brackets and we will play the White Station vs Whomever it is they are playing (Dyersburg) winner. But I am still happy and ready to travel west with this great group of Indians...this Team...the Dobyns-Bennett Indians... (I think the new system stinks, but Ronnie and the boys failed to call and get my opinion...I'll try to provide them a bit of insight when I reach MTSU) Roll Tribe Roll

  12. How 'Bout Them Indians!?!?! Another team victory...58-54...The Tribe is 25-9...unbelievable I am so proud of this bunch of young men. Part of the "Great Eight" headed to Murfreesboro, two years in a row. Congratulations Dobyns-Bennett Indians...players and coaches Great crowd support...this team deserved the support and got it! Roll Tribe Roll
  13. Briefcase Brien...at it again... Roll Tribe Roll
  14. The Substate is one game...the winners of Mondays Substate games go to Murfreesboro as part of the "Great Eight", for the state tournament...the losers of the Substate games go home having had a great year. Roll Tribe Roll
  15. Very well said Art. The Indians are Region 1 Champions. Congratulations...I am so proud. Roll Tribe Roll (like Art said)
  16. Stokomo played for and learned a lot from the best... the one and only Coach Walter "Buck" Van Huss...Stokomo is doing a great job of teaching those lessons learned to his players and everyone else who will pay attention... Stokomo, I am proud of you and I know Coach would be, too. Keep up the good work. Congratulations on an outstanding year. Roll Tribe Roll
  17. Scoring for the Indians: Creech 15 Throp 13 Harrison 12 Blackwell 8 Begley 5 Morrison 2 Tritapoe 0 They all played great...man I'm tired Roll Tribe Roll
  18. Does anyone have an update on Halls and the Admirals? Thanks Roll Tribe Roll
  19. It was a very exciting game. Thomas was double and tripled teamed all night, but the guards were patient, hit some big shots, and played outstanding "D". Walker, the lone Indian not on the all conference team, hit 3 big threes (one from way out beyond the arch to tie the game and send it to overtime), Ryan hit 2 threes, Jamie had six points in the 2 overtimes. Phillip "hands" Tritapoe had a solid game in the post and a huge steal at the end as Fox brought the ball down for Boone, picked up his dribble just to the left of the lane, about 12 feet away from the bucket, tried to dump the ball inside to Aaron Cox on the block and Phillip stepped in the lane and stole the pass and was fouled with 2.4 showing on the clock...he missed the front end, but Doyle's full court heave was not close. Defensively the Indians again controled the guards...In four games against Boone Walker has held the person he has guarded (Honeycutt games 1 & 2 and Mabe in the district and tonight) without a point in three games and tonight held Mabe scoreless from the field...Doyle hit a couple or three big threes early, then Jeff shut him down the rest of the way...Honeycutt, being guarded by Blackwell and Creech, did not score...Thomas blocked at least three shots...Begley battled all night and did a great job on A.Cox & Champagne as did Thomas and Phillip. Huge win against a team who had stated in the Johnson City Press that "D-B will not beat us for a fourth time" (quote attributed in the Press to Rusty Mabe). Took two overtimes and everyone got their monies worth. Boone had a great year and will be outstanding again next year with Mabe, Champagne, Fox, Compton (#32)...great year Trailblazers and a great game tonight. Congratulations Indians, be proud...be ready...We play the Hilltoppers tomorrow for the Regional Championship. Roll Tribe Roll
  20. Another geography lesson...Chattanooga is in Southeast Tennessee and has been for a long time...Knoxville is referred to as East Tennessee and Kingsport (D-, Johnson City, and Bristol are the Tri-Cities and it's known as Northeast Tennessee...there is a whole lot of land and people east of Chattanooga. Roll Tribe Roll
  21. Dobyns-Bennett wins tonight over Jefferson County in a very good high school basketball game. Well played, well coached, fun to watch. Good win for the Indians. Roll Tribe Roll
  22. Obviously, a geography class or two was skipped by folks in the Chattanooga area...and basketball IS played east of Knoxville as well. In fact, last year, the two 5A teams representing East Tennessee were Dobyns-Bennett and Greeneville. This year it may be different, but the sectionals haven't been played yet...no wait, the district tournaments haven't been played yet, either. I have seen White Station and Bradley Central and they are outstanding teams...may very well play for the championship, but thusfar, they haven't made it anywhere...many more games to go. Good luck to everyone. Roll Tribe Roll
  23. As the dad of two D-B players and one at Sevier - 7th grade, I have seen the Betsy freshman play @ D-B (without dogman's son...if he's who I think he is...he is a good guard), the varsity and jv play twice, and the middle school teams play once. I agree that Coach Hardin is a good coach...he has some pretty good kids on the team, some good athletes, maybe not great basketball players. I remember the Travis Johns of the past who were great athletes and great basketball players, the Normans and the Wittens, etc. Coach Hardin is a good man who wants the best for his players and his program. But the freshmen situation needs to be addressed directly with Coach Hardin, let him know the concerns of the players and the parents (in that order). The freshman class at Betsy has some very solid talent in multiple sports, don't let them get distracted or discouraged. It is a good rivalry for the D-B freshmen, I know the respect is there in both directions. Talk to the Coach, have the players talk as well...don't trash the freshmen coach too much in front of the kids, it may influence their opinions beyond there actual feelings. I wish everyone good luck. Roll Tribe Roll
