  1. Caught the game last night...Reischling had an excellent shooting game and Hudson made some nice plays. Don't know if I should have been, but I was surprised by the play of Phelps. I wasn't too sure about his play against Carter, but he also played well last night. I expected Gibbs to be stronger, but the more I watch this Pioneer team, I like what I see even better...
  2. Rutledge vs. Carter...a couple technicals...overtime...Rutledge came out on top. Overall good game. Especially impressive play by Rutledge considering the loss of several starters from last season. Great inside scoring by Rutledge with Dexter Lowe leading the way...should an exciting season!
  3. Wow, what a game!!! To the Lady Panthers: all of you girls are awesome and I hope you realize how much support you had all season and going into the tournament. Everyone I talked to was pulling for Powell. Tough loss against Craigmont, but look at where you are at...what an awesome accomplishment to make it where you did. So many teams would have loved to be at the State Tourney, but I think you girls did an excellent job of representing East Tennessee. This season will not be forgotten and next season will also be an exciting one. Good luck to all the seniors and congrats Lady Panthers on a job well done!
  4. I just want to say good luck to both Powell and Greeneville!! Both teams are extremely talented!! Bring back a State Championship to East Tennessee!! Jefferson County will be cheering for both teams!! Good luck ladies, play hard and with your heart...
  5. "We're goin' to the 'ship!" Way to go Lady Patriots!!!
  6. Does anyone know which station is broadcasting the girls Region 2AAA games tonight?
  7. I disagree about Powell looking like they didn't even want to be at the game...they made good plays, took good shots...but even even the best teams lose occasionally. This loss will just pump the Lady Panthers up even more going into the Region tournament. I will give credit to Oak Ridge, they played well...I just believe Powell has so much talent on their squad and we will definitely be seeing them finish big this year!
  8. How recently have you seen Jefferson County play?? Jefferson County has really picked up their game lately and the fast-paced offense they are now executing is working for them...just look at the Morristown West and Greeneville scores. The great thing about Jeff. Co. is the TEAM basketball they play. If they come out with the same intensity they have had the past two games then it will not be a close game against Science Hill. Also, the Lady Patriots realize that because they won the tourney doesn't mean they can take it easy now...it means some teams will want to pay them back so they will have to work twice as hard...Good luck Lady Pats!
  9. Powell is going to be fired up and ready for Sevier County after losing to Oak Ridge in the championship. I think Powell's guards will definitely hold their own against Sevier County's, but I believe Powell's posts will have an advantage because of all their size and quick moves around the block. It is going to be an awesome game...can't wait! So assuming that both Powell and Sevier County win on Monday, when would they go up against each other??
  10. I’m a South Doyle fan…I know I’m a little late but I just still can’t believe their season is already over…the Heritage game was tough and they played hard…they played with a lot of heart this season and that is one reason I like watching them play… no matter what their record was or what the score was, the Cherokees went into every game with intensity and great attitudes…I think all the players expressed great poise and sportsmanship on the court which means so much…I can't wait until next season because it should be an awesome one! Wish all the seniors good luck and congrats on a great season!
  11. Strikeout, you are the man! I think you are right on point concerning the play of Jeff County...If they come out against Greeneville with the same intensity they displayed against Morristown West, it will be a long game for the Devils...Good luck Lady Pats! Work hard and play as a team!
  12. Awesome game Lady Patriots! Way to play as a team and get the job done! Now for Greeneville... "We're goin' to the 'ship!"
  13. South Doyle is the team to watch out for coming into this district tournament. So their record isn't great and they've lost a few close games lately...big deal. I think they have a point to prove and will take care of business. Early in the season, the Cherokees were playing awesome basketball, they've lost some momentum since then but hopefully we can see that kind of play in the tourney. Good luck Kees!
  14. Nothing is wrong with Powell. They just haven't gone up against anyone who is on the same level with them yet, with the exception of Oak Ridge. I think this Heritage game will be a good test for them but I would also love to see them face off against Sevier County or Shelbyville. Ogan and Hollifield are talented players and the guards play really well also. They have good chemistry on the floor and know how to play as a team. Every player is contributing...if they continue this way then I have a feeling we'll be seeing them at State!
  15. If Morristown West comes out with intesity and runs the floor well, it will be an easy win. If the Torjans come out sluggish in the beginning and want to keep the game at a slow pace, Manuel and Lyons will tear them up!
  16. The original Sevier County vs. Jefferson County was canceled due to snow. It is not going to be rescheduled.
  17. A couple good games coming up...Jefferson County, who is having a great season, will go up against Bearden on Monday and then face off against Maryville on Tuesday. Let's see what's happened up to this point: Jeff. County beat South Doyle in tourney by three, South Doyle beat Bearden by two. Jefferson County then lost to Farragut 79-81 and Fulton 40-59 in tourney. The Patriots then beat Maryville by 11 points in a very well-played game. Bearden has lost twice to Maryville and was also defeated by Farragut. The bulldogs had a big win against Morristown West 101-53, and gained another win by beating Fulton by four points. In my opinion it's a toss up...partial to Jefferson County...Clement is having an excellent season, Brown and Jennings are also getting things done, and the bench is contributing big. Jefferson County at Bearden on Monday night is a game that shouldn't be missed. Curious about everyone else's thoughts...
  18. I'm a huge South Doyle fan and love watching Johnson, King, and Burroughs play together. Lately I've been really impressed with the play of Lightfoot and Mapes also. I was at the Maryville game and even though I follow girls basketball more than boys, I didn't think something seemed right with the Cherokees. Even though their record isn't great, I still believe they will turn out to be a threat in the tournament. I hope the Kees will bounce back from this tough loss against Maryville and play like we all know they can play!
  19. I'm with fatjoe on this one...we do know who's going to win...it's hard to beat South Doyle at South Doyle, it's hard to beat any good team at their place. And just some advice for the near future: watch out for those Kees around tournament time or they'll sneak up on some of you and plant a giant "L" in your Win/Loss columns. A trio like Burroughs, Johnson, and King...what more can be said?
  20. Logan Johnson for South Doyle deserves better than 3rd team. We've all seen this kid play and well...he can PLAY! Good decision giving Clement- Jefferson County- a 1st team spot...he's having a great season.
  21. I believe Powell is going to sneak up on some of you that are doubting...the whole team is playing great...Ogan is probably one of the top juniors in the nation and Hollifield is right up there with the top freshmen in the nation. From what I've seen they've really got this playing as a TEAM thing down pretty well. Powell will be at State, just be ready for them!
  22. Thoughts on Jefferson County... tons of talent, very athletic team, but should be winning more games...has a tough schedule including Sevier County, Greeneville, Morristown West, Oak Ridge. Rankings down because of the early season loss to Clinton...which is still puzzling everyone. Competed with Livingston Academy until the buzzer in Greeneville Tourney, also lost to Mt. Juliet at Greeneville. Just curious about everyone else's thoughts...
