  1. Whitwell won a nail-biter against Temple 21-20 Friday night. I figured Temple would hang for a while, but obviously they had enough gas to finish. Does anyone have any details on the game? I know Drew Shadrick (DL) picked off a pass and ran it back while making all 3 EPs and Red Bank transfer Marcus Manning (FS) had 2 interceptions. I also heard that Temple ran the ball only twice. Pass along some details please. I am at college just tryin to keep up with the boys.
  2. Everyone knows that Whitwell has had trouble stopping the pass over the years, but Whitwell's running attack should keep the ball out of Temple's hands and wear them down.
  3. Soddy should win this game, but I expect a good effort from what should be an emotionally-charged Red Bank team. With all the storylines behind this one, it has the makings of being a great game.
  4. Ooltewah's defense gave up 26 points to Red Bank last week, so I don't see them locking down East Ridge. If Caldwell is unable to play, then I really like the Pioneers' chances. I'm gonna pick East Ridge in an upset, picking up their second win against Region 2-5A team.
  5. Well it looks like we've got the Sequatchie vote. Anybody else got any predictions or thoughts about either one of these teams?
  6. I think this will be a victory for the Tigers. Temple just doesn't have the bodies to slow down Whitwell's running game.
  7. Anybody got anything on Temple?
  8. Bivens was picked 4A Preseason All-State at LB in the Murphy Fair magazine. I've heard that Soddy will be pretty tough defensively. Coach Weathers should do great things for the Trojans.
  9. Is Stephen Smith still the QB at Temple? I was readin in the box scores today and saw that there is a QB at Dade County, GA named Stephen Smith.

    CAK vs Temple

I was reading in today's paper that the QB at Dade County, GA is named Stephen Smith. Is this the same kid that was the QB at Temple last season?

    CAK vs Temple

Who were some of the key players for Temple? What positions do they play? I know about the Skogen brothers at WR, but what else do they have?
  12. I read that Temple has only 24 players. If that's the case then Whitwell should be able to keep fresh legs on the field and beat the Crusaders in the second half. Whitwell always has a pretty good summer conditioning program and should work to their advantage in this one. Any other details on this game?
  13. It sounds like there wasn't very much defense being played. Anyone got any details about how the game went? How did the Skogen brothers look?
  14. Surely someone went to this game. A parent, player, anyone?

    CAK vs Temple

I am curious to know the score of this game as well.
  16. Not sure about tying it, but the other thread said that they missed two PAT's.
  17. Congrats to Harriman! You gotta hit the pat's, Sequoyah! Never know when they will be the difference.
  18. I know exactly how it feels to finally win one. My team lost 26 in a row and then ended up winning a region championship the year we broke the streak. Congratulations Harriman! And as a former kicker, I would just like to point out how important the kicking game is.
  19. Does anyone know how Temple fared against CAK tonight?
  20. Whitwell will host Tennessee Temple in their season opener Friday night. The Tigers are coming off a 7-4 season and a 3rd straight playoff appearance, but lost many key players from last season. Temple went 5-5 in their inaugural season, with a win over future region opponent Lookout Valley and a close loss to Copper Basin who is also in Region 3-1A, but steps up the competition this year adding the Tigers and CAK (beat Cloudland in 1st round) to the schedule. Whitwell returns a lot of key position players, but both sides of the line are young and inexperienced. I know the Skogen's are back for the Crusaders and will be their top players in a spread offense. What else does Temple have and how does everyone think this one will come out? GO BIG RED!
  21. I really enjoyed seeing a quarterback(Stewart) gettin the ball to the big man(Poole). A tight end who can catch as well as open holes is a big asset to a team.
  22. Watching the highlights, the run by McDermott was very impressive. It was big time considering it came right after having the touchdown by Locke called back,
  23. Could someone pass along the details from this shocker? All I have heard was how good Central was and then this happens. How did Brent Hayes look?
  24. In 2001, Whitwell had broken a 26 game losing streak and had won their first 4 including a shocker at powerhouse Boyd-Buchanan. They were down 14-6 to county rival Marion County and driving with only a couple of minutes to play. Mr. Football candidate Bubba Austin was stopped at the one yard line with no time on the clock. Whitwell returned the favor two years later beating the Warriors two years later 17-14 for the Tigers' first win in 16 years over Marion.
  25. Country is exactly right. The jamboree means nothing! Whitwell has an overall record of 21-13 since jamboree in 2001, even though they haven't won a single quarter. The Tigers will be ready and will finish no worse than 6-4 with a 4th straight trip to the playoffs as the #3 seed from Region 3-1A.
